I would never throw over my boater's shoulder but if he's retying and the boat drifts and puts that spot to where I'm aloud to throw I'm going to fish it
I fish as a co angler for a year boats F over the co angler all the time they do it because they are afraid they are going to get beat by co angler the guy that looks at his boat as a team is 1000% best day of fishing for both guys the co angler only gets half of the money if he win the boaters wins a % of the co angler entry you got to keep that in mind
So, i know this is 8+ months ago but just watched it. But f&*% that Co. He was just a whiney little B@#&*. We (Co's) do not put the time and effort in to the tourney that you guys do (and if we do, we need to be the boater) yet some have entitlement that the feel and often express. I have stories of boaters, mainly just their tantrums towards their day. I pay to fish these tournaments to learn from guys like you (that is why I watch your channel) and hope I catch fish. I would have been stoked just to see you catch fish. Co's should learn that Pro's try to be on fish, S@#& happens, you cannot help it.
Matt, I agree with everything you brought up in this video. He was wrong on all aspects. However I do have a question? Why do some boaters think as a co-angler we should be there just to learn? I am 60 years old and have been fishing since before you were born. Now I am not saying I cant learn something, I try to every time I go out on the water. I own 3 boats and still would rather fish as a co-angler in tournaments. For me it takes all the stress out of the day and I can just enjoy fishing. Like you said it's cheaper than a guide service. LOL But please remember not all co-anglers don't know what they are doing.
Good point. But you’re also probably not the guy to whine and complain about what I’m doing. You’ll put your head down and work with the water you’re presented with like any angler should. There are some Horror stories about other cos that I hear. At the chick Toyota I heard a boater saying that his co angler was telling him that he didn’t know Jack about what he’s doing bc he couldn’t find fish on a shad spawn and that was Theo convo the night before the day even started LOLOL. Respect, open mindedness, and a good attitude are the key to being a great co.
You’re a co angler in someone else’s boat that they pay for. Suck it up fish. If you don’t like it take the initiative and responsibility to buy your own rig. WTF is the matter with people today?????
Was a co angler in the 90s redman tour 16 thru my mid 20s and learned to adapt out fished a few of the boaters . Im always looking at it as im bank fishing i have to fish whats there
dude I fish as a boater and a co-angler. wow. dude should be banned. the fact you sprung into action to net his fish...wow. when im a co-angler we are going where the boater wants to go....whether I like it or not im there to learn what to do or what not to do
As a co angler compared to some of the situations I been in rather be around the stuff you were instead of 60 ft of water watching a guy live scope. My biggest question did he give you gas money 😅
Lol. Theres bad boaters to. Rich guys. Sometimes you got to give em a crankbait so they can get a limit. Sometimes they say theres an invisible line Dont cross it ,dont cast over it, then they lose a fish and i say mmmmm i coulda netted him if that invisible line hadnt been in my way. Lol. Personal experience here. I think most non boaters own their own boats. Some of em are better then some of the boaters. Go's both ways. Just gotta keep on fishin! Pray you get a good partner. No matter which side your on. Shoulda asked him if he just started his period when he said he wanted to go home.!
Its co-anglers like that that gives good co-anglers like me a bad name i hate people who want to bitch that guy was unreal, sorry u had to deal with that guy bro
It's very simple. Sounds like he's a youngin. So basically, he didn't get his way and needed his safe space. You were far cooler than I ever would have been.
A lot of times co anglers know hetter than the boater. They should work as a team. Period. Start with boaters opinion first than if nothing take in to consideration boaters opinions more so.
Kudos to you for not throwing him off YOUR boat, right into the water. I bet he's single and had said before "i got mine, you should've tried harder to get yours, woman". Brother you should teach anger management techniques, that was phenomenal.
Ive fished 100s of pro ams. BFLs, Strens, Bass, etc... Which means I have had 100s of Co Anglers in which a lot of them have become good friends. I can count on one finger the amount of idiots I drew. Sure I had some inexperienced anglers, but most of them were just asking a lot of questions picking my brain. Which is fine. I actually spill the beans when they ask. But there was this one guy at the Red River that I will never forget. I had a Basscat Cougar with a 250 optimax. This was back in 2005. My boat would run close to 80. Which was fast back then. Well, I come out of the lock, and travel about 10 miles to my spot. When we get there, he informs me his cigarettes flew out which he had in his front shirt pocket. Of course I say Im sorry but we were nowhere near any store. I honestly would have taken him to a store had we been close to one. But by the time 11am rolled around, he was having severe withdrawals and literally yelling at me to take him to get cigarettes. He threatened me, he told me he would not sign the weigh in slip, etc... I apologized but told him we were not going back early. I actually had a good sack of fish. He literally laid down in the back of the boat the rest of the day . He finally shut up about it. But he did keep his promise. He did not sign my weigh in slip. I told the tournament director what happened right in front of him. The tournament director looked at him and said is this the case. He admitted that it was and said I was an asshole for not getting him some cigarettes. The director was nice to him and told him he would take care of it. After the guy walked off the director told me jokingly, if your co angler smokes, always bring an extra pack of cigs from now on. He went and talked to a few different competitors and came back and said my weight would count. Never heard a peep since. Im sure everybody that reads this has had a day like that. Its just inevitable.
What the hell did he want? Pick up a rod and start casting dude!!! Yeah, as long as there is water around you, you can cast and fish. What the hell did he want for the boater to give him his fish?
