Wow this is a truly horrible version soundwise compared to the C64 release. Reminds me how far ahead the SID chip was for its time for both music and effects.
Level 1: Hell's Kitchen The Mansion Exterior: Begin outside the mansion. Pick up the revolver and ammunition from the chest near the entrance. Use the rope on the balcony to climb into the mansion. Entrance Hall: Upon entering the hall, quickly shoot or evade the pirate to your left. Search the hall for the map and healing items. Proceed through the door on the left. Dining Room: Eliminate any enemies and collect the sword and flask of rum. Search the room for additional items. Kitchen: Deal with the pirate cook. Use the frying pan as a weapon if necessary. Grab the key and any food items that can be used for healing. Secret Passage: Use the key to open the secret passage behind the pantry. Navigate through the passage, defeating any enemies you encounter. Level 2: The Courtyard Outer Courtyard: Exit the mansion into the courtyard. Avoid or kill the zombie dogs patrolling the area. Search for hidden items and clues. Greenhouse: Enter the greenhouse and defeat the plant monsters inside. Collect the herbicide and use it on the larger plants blocking your way. Shed: Find the shed and unlock it using the key found earlier. Collect the items inside, including the shovel and dynamite. Tunnel Entrance: Use the shovel to dig at the marked spot in the courtyard. Enter the tunnel. Level 3: The Caves Cave Entrance: Navigate through the cave, dealing with bats and spiders. Use the dynamite to clear blocked passages. Underground River: Cross the river using the boat. Beware of any lurking creatures. Pirate Hideout: Enter the hideout and stealthily take out the pirates. Search the hideout for a map and the key to Grace's cell. Level 4: The Final Showdown Cell Block: Use the key to unlock Grace's cell. Defeat the guards and free Grace. Escape Route: Escort Grace back through the tunnels, fighting off any remaining enemies. Return to the mansion's entrance. One-Eyed Jack's Lair: Confront One-Eyed Jack in his lair. Use your sword and revolver to defeat him in a final battle. Conclusion Watch the final cutscene where Carnby and Grace escape the mansion. Congratulations, you have completed "Alone in the Dark 2"!
The young folks don't realize that this used to look "cutting edge" and super cool in 1991. Lol. I played this on a giant-ass IBM PC with an old-school cathode ray monitor with a joystick when I was around the age of 10, and I thought this was the coolest thing I had ever seen. Lol. 👍
Listen, the realism and graphics for these modern simulators is great. But if you still want to give me an armament selection screen with little spinning missiles and stuff like we can have both.
is it possible to change graphic settings and particualrly the resolution? DOSBox has some serious issues with this game. The sound slows down with full screen and the picture is distorted. Other pinball games look and work great with same DOSBox settings so I don't think the problem is there. Also, is it possible to change flipper keys? I constantly press shifts, but this game forces to use CTRL keys... Edit: I tried to play it with authentic DOS-machine, even there the video doesn't display right, and I didn't find any means of chancing the display settings. Install_.txt mentions in the last line, that video options should be accessed during the play by pressing L+R Flippers and Space Bar. (tried both CTRL and ALT keys) Well that didn't do anything at all. Any ideas?
Yes! it is in my plans at somepoint. Thing is that i'm stuck on beginning of 10th-mission on "Jabba's ship" which starts in jail, captured where you have to face against four kell dragons in arena without weapons with only bare hands and i dont wanna lower the difficulty level and i have succeeded few times but left with very low health for rest of the level, so it's very frustrating.

This was my first video game of any kind. My grandpa ordered it for himself via mail order, and it came with an aircraft carrier documentary on VHS. I still remember sitting on his lap, and him frantically trying to stop me from hitting random buttons and ruining his mission. Eventually I learned how to fly for myself, and every time I crashed he would say "That's another 18 Million dollars." 😂 Ah, I cherish those memories!
Great game, I only knew it from my childhood friend on his Amiga 500, I even do not know that this game was available for PC/DOS.... but adorable, the Amiga version of this game was much better in graphics and sound (coloration and sound generation of this version are really poor, in comparision to A500)
