If you are a parent and in full time employment UC will deny you the care element. They will say you can’t be employed over 16 hours a week. That is wrong. To be entitled to the care element you have to be a carer for over 35 hours. That’s the only stipulation on time. Even benefit advisors and legal experts will repeat the same lie from UC. Challenge it and go to court if you need to. They will undoubtedly change the decision before that stage.

Sadly this is the fault of the benefit scroungers who have abused the system. Why are we always complaining about steps to be taken that are common in Europe? On mainland Europe, and here in France specifically, EVERYONE has a health number an id number and a tax number. The government knows of every penny you own, have ever owned, in any country. If you aren't trying to hide anything, why is it a problem? I know several people in South Yorkshire on benefits, hugely reduced council tax, housing benefits, etc who boasted they had over 250k in savings. As a state pensioner on less than basis rate, i still had to pay council tax. I personally welcome the changes. They should also examine the young people on benefits claiming every possible benefit, to see how many iphones they have. Do they own and finance a car? Do they get their hair done, nails done, sunbed use etc. Because they are sure as hell being paid too much, or they have jobs on the side. I guarantee it will be we pensioners who need a cash buffer the most who will suffer the most.

I got refused 3 times, in the assessment they asked me if I was to so and so "hypothetically" what would I do. This is how they trick you. The fouth time I reapplied I refused to answer hypothetical questions. I said I do not want to guess nor answer a question on a scenerio that does not exist, but was asked a multiple times, I was adamant!
