How so? The dude claims he's a professional conservationist (he says it in both the show and his book) who searches for thought to be extinct animals. But then he also didn't actually find said animals. What's the context you're refering to? Forrest claims he's a professional biologist. If that's the case, why shouldn't we hold him to those standards?
That Royal Gammoth is low key a super easy get. The fight itself seems incredibly daunting but she only ever uses Power attacks, and the stomp while having massive HP. So just use Speed over and over and then use your Ride to tank her stomp. Better to do solo than partnered up. Getting her to retreat is the true issue after the absolute slog that is fighting her.
Glad to see a video from someone addressing Forrest Galante’s dishonesty as I’m somewhat tired of seeing comments from his devoted fans constantly praising him and asking that Extinct or Alive be brought back. Thankfully I am confident that it won’t be brought back, in the case of one of the animals that you bring up, Miller’s Grizzled Langur, it is simply impossible that he did not know at the time of his expedition to find it, that it was not considered extinct. The monkey was proven to be still extant in 2011, by a team of researchers led by Brent Loken, they obtained photographs using trail cameras, Brent Loken co-wrote a science paper on his rediscovery of the monkey, published in 2012, inconveniently for Forrest, lots of news sites around the world reported on Brent Loken’s science paper and how he rediscovered this monkey, thus if you Google Miller’s Grizzled Langur, all these articles from 2012, come up on how Brent Loken and his team rediscovered the monkey, but the really absurd thing, is that Forrest having claimed in the episode that monkey is extinct or allegedly extinct, states that it was last seen in 2011 and shows the photos taken by Brent Loken and team, proving that he knew that Loken et al had proved in 2011 that the monkey was still extant. He offers no justification for his statements that the monkey is extinct, no reason why conservationists or scientists would think that it was, or evidence that any did, Brent Loken and team obtained their photos by placing trail cameras around a natural mineral lick known as a sepan, Forrest did not need to use any of his alleged wildlife expertise and tracking skills, because 1) he knew the monkey was not extinct and 2) he obtained the first ever video footage of the monkey, by doing exactly what they did, putting a lot of trail cameras around a sepan. The entire reason they picked this monkey, is because they were certain they would find it. After he recounted how he proved that the monkey was not extinct on the Joe Rogan Experience, Brent Loken tweeted on what was then Twitter, that Forrest Galante was a liar. I’ve no doubt that he will try to push a lot of the blame for his dishonesty onto the network, but that does not really wash. I won't go into huge detail, but after Extinct or Alive, he went on to make a series called Mysterious Creatures, Episode 5 of this series titled It Comes in the Night, is a very heavily fictionalised account of how he allegedly arranges to have a herd of 13 elephants in Mozambique captured and removed to the safety of Zinave National Park. The translocation of the elephants was not arranged by him, but by an NGO called Peace Parks Foundation, all Forrest did was donate some money to them, so that he could involve himself. He alleges that he has gone to Mozambique because a village is under attack from a supposedly lone bull elephant and states that the villagers are Shona people who he lived amongst in Zimbabwe, to claim a personal connection, but this is a blatant lie, given the location of the village, near the South African border, the villagers are clearly Tsonga people, he also conveniently fails to mention that the village is on the boundary of Maputo National Park, because that doesn’t suit his story. Again, he is portraying himself as the hero and taking credit for the work of others, claiming that this is the largest animal rescue he has conducted, when the entire thing was arranged by PPF, he arranged nothing except put up some of the money. The other episodes I've seen are little better, but I know more about the true story of the Mozambican elephants, but the dishonesty in his story about them, leads me to see more dishonesty in the other episodes.
Yeah dude I’m deleting Path… oh wait I spent like a few dollars on a bundle and there is no way of getting it back and I don’t live in America so those U.S. dollars I’ve spent cost soo much in my native money 💀😭
Hyenas left click also takes stamina away even if it doesn't catch onto some animals. Still there should be like at least 5% or so chance that you break a leg so they can't run or 30% of their stamina goes away.
So did Balaguera-Reina actually re-discover the Caiman before Galante did? Or did Galante re-discover the Caiman based off information provided by Balaguera-Reina? There is a big difference, and you muddied clarification.
He’s a lazy hack so he probably read “Devil Facial Tumor Disease is often spread through mating” and so “STD!”- overlooking that it’s spread through bites of infected tissue, which Devils may do during mating. But NOT an STD
Something has never felt right about the guy, he seems arrogant and only interested in his own image, that combined with a lack of basic knowledge that I as a young kid knew: like claiming leopards are larger the jaguars, and Reticulated pythons being shorter, but heavier than the green anaconda, saying there are wild elephants in the Sundarbans mangrove forrests. Its just something that a real biologist would say.
One underrated detail from lost world in my opinion is how both Rex parents come to the aid of the baby Rex’s calls. I feel it’s fair to assume that they were good parents and filled a defensive and tutorial role for at least a short time, the same as many birds today. The larger balance between character vs animal is very important when it comes to writing, and if not enough care is taken here it can make or break the media piece. This is why most Dino dorks gravitate towards Dino docs rather than monster media, myself included. I have been working on a passion project that of course includes dinosaurs, and I want to find that line between plain animals and characterized specimens 😂
You can get brute tigerex at hokolo island at spire rock everden I got it on my frisk try after I got my flying rathalos flying need if going for it and that’s it if you want one
How come I, a non biologist, with only the aid of a ruler, could clearly tell the photos were fakes when Forrest and his team of expert cameramen couldn‘t ?
he's not a scientist - not a conservationalist - literally just a fraudster who likes to play explorer - perpetuating colonialistic science and doing damage to real conservative efforts
honestly the caiman thing had me going "wait a minute..." when it came out because i swear i had heard through the grapevine of the more academic reptile community that someone else had done that. and same with the tortoise like hey man you just showed up to help, you didn't do all the work needed to find her, you just tagged along with a film crew. he's "rediscovering" extinct animals like i "discovered" indie bands in high school: someone else put me on to them first
It really shouldn't be controversial to say "Taking credit for someone else's work is bad and breaking promises to them is even worse.". I feel like that's just common decency.
I have been Researching sll this after i saw xour video and i sadly have ti say that you are corect , forest seems to fo all tjis for fame , he might realy have a padsion gor animals BUT he believes that he is the Person that deserves credit, yes his extinct or slive production company might have mislead him BUT he should still be intelligent enough to fact Check whats going on ...
It’s funny how people like to rag Jurassic park for being scientifically inaccurate yet it was actually accurate to our knowledge of dinosaurs at the time. Of course, it’s not accurate nowadays but it was still true to the scientific knowledge of what dinosaurs might have looked like back in the 90s
