Wow. I enjoyed PPT1 a lot and was very excited when the sequel was announced and enjoyed that as well, since I was mainly excited for story mode. I had no idea the competitive community had so many problems with it. Thanks to your video, I know the just of it!

this is a really solid video but didn't really focus on the puyo side after all this was the only competitively played puyo game until puyo puyo esports came out so it feels a bit unfair to only focus on the tetris side of the competitive history since swap was the main game mode played at lans
A year late from the video's release, but this was one of my thoughts as well! I never ended up buying ppt2, and just went from ppt1 to te:c and never looked back. The regular game is already incredible, but bringing a major community figure on to help watch dev was a brilliant idea. NES has gotten a proper outlet and is much more accessible which is amazing even though i dont play classic. Zone battle is also something i love, the offense/defense strategy options it offers really reinforces good play on top of just speed, since one slip isnt necessarily an instant death sentence. Its also beautiful to watch, some of my friends who dont even play tetris enjoy watching tourneys with me. And ofc, combos got a nerf normally, and a bonus nerf with zone enabled to prevent zone 4wides from being too devastating. Although zone basically prevents stall in the first place a lot of the time.
