@@TheRecordist Thank you so much for the reply <3. Yaa! not many people have used this one. I have watched some videos on it, they either love it or absolutely hate it. There is nothing in between XD. But I was confused between this and samson one. My work is mostly for youtube voice overs. Would you recommend the DCM6 for it?
@@yashbansalaudio hey no worries! And no, I don’t recommend the DCM 6 for that. Are you specifically looking for a dynamic mic to do the RU-vid narrations?
@@TheRecordist Yes! That’s more or less my only use. Maybe use it for streaming. But my main purpose is RU-vid narrations. Can you please suggest me another one? I’ve been scratching my head trying to find one.
@@yashbansalaudio oh I see. I wasn’t saying the DCM6 was bad. Just that dynamics are a little different. If I had a choice, I’d go for the DCM 8, but the DCM6 will be just fine. Also a simple Shure SM57 with a good pop filter would be my other choice. $100. But it doesn’t have a built in in-line preamp like the sE Electronics ones do. If money isn’t an issue, I’d go for the Shure SM7dB. What interface are you using?
Hey. Well, the F2 - while seeming to be in the Zoom F class of recorders - is actually an H class recorder. So, the F3 has the really nice preamps, as does the F6, F8n, etc. the F2 has preamps like the H series (H1n, H5, H6, etc). So, noisier preamps.
Hi, great videos as always. I own the Peavey PVM 520 i Large Diaphragm Dynamic Mic. I know it is meant for Kick Drum but I find it amazing on vocals and Vice-Over also. Any opinions on that model. Thank You.
so if I delete my field recording....am I killing time ? if I record enough sounds will time slow down ? ....How many sound clips of my mother in laws voice do I need to compress to make her shut up ? , Is it wrong too only field record naked ? ..... If I set up an array of mass drivers with harmonicly matched ULF repeaters squeezed into the frequency of a microwave pulse generator can I ride the waves ? .... so many questions, subscribed .
I did just purchase this and it's arriving tomorrow 😁 although I don't believe you get all those preamp plugins that were demonstrated. Great video and I hit that sub! Cheers
Hey that’s great! Congrats! It doesn’t ship with ANY plugins? Are you sure? They usually get you started with some. When you get it all set up, come back and let me know! And thanks for the sub!
@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff yes but does it SOUND like I’m in a well? Haha. Yeah, I’m still trying to figure out how to mount the GoPro in there. I’ll try to get it lower. The HyperCard AND the figure 8 sounded amazing. I wasn’t expecting that. Great mic.
Oh hahah. Well thank you! I’m not a great singer. I have poor control of my voice. I was always a backup singer back in my band days. I’ve been writing and selling songs and orchestral scores for years and years, but was not usually the performer. Just composer. Cheers!
That’s the way to buy one! The T1 review is coming in mere weeks. If you’re anything like me, you watch reviews of products you already have, hoping they’re positive ones. Haha. Well, it will be. Cheers!
@@TheRecordist yep, guilty. lol. would you be willing to compare the T1 to the Roswell mini K87 when you are testing it please? My guess is the T1 is more "gritty"
@@jonbuder I will eventually be doing a comparison between many of them. The T2 is faster and less smooth. The Mini K87 is very rich and smooth. Rounded.
I really want a stereo pair of these they sound so good. I've heard percussion sounds from these (I think some Bollywood people use them now as they sound good on Tabla), acoustic, violin.. everything I like. Probably wouldnt be my first choice on cabs, but for fast picking/shreddy stuff it should come across better than an 87.
Love to know what you think of the Rode Broadcaster mic for voiceover work. 20 year old mic still being produced with no real advertisement on it. And on the Rodecaster Duo it has a unique setting on the EQ for it, showing Rode still support this in 2024. Love to know your thoughts. Also video request... when do sales happen on Audio gear, as you may have noticed I'm in the market to upgrade from my Yeti Pro. Rode Broadcaster is top of my upgrade list, with the SE4400 in 2nd place, know you know :o) Love the vids BTW and keep up the sterling work.
Hey thanks! Well, I don’t have any experience with the Røde Broadcaster. I’m not a fan of Røde because I find all the Røde mics I’ve tried cheap sounding. If you ask any pro, they likely wouldn’t recommend a Røde. But that doesn’t mean the Broadcaster is a bad mic. I just don’t have experience with it, nor do I hear much about it in my audio circles. The 4400 is incredible. But maybe you don’t need all the polar pattern options of the 4400. If not, the 4100 is the same mic without the polar pattern options. And cheaper. $300. That one I can confidently recommend.
So I bought an old NT1 and its still super hyped in the high end. The ssses are crazy. I rang rode and they confirmed the NT1 is the same as the NT1A its just the old graph was deceptively smoothed out. I'm off to sell the rode and get a Roswell mic. Keep fighting the good fight!
Man, I know what you mean. The NT1 is still better than the NT1A, but honestly not by much. The Mini K87 will help you out immensely in that department. The K67x is fantastic too, but much more saturation. I personally love the saturation of the transformer, but I also really love the clean 87. I reviewed both of them, as you know. Cheers, Matty!
@@TheRecordist I'll learn eventually - Buy once cry once! Love the channel. Have some dt770 PRO on order also. Still can't find my samples of tide though 😅
OH GAWD THOSE SONGS OF YOURS !!! Please please please ppppplllllleeeeaaaase tell me you released them on platforms as outstandingly humourous insidejokey objects
Hahaha. I have some of them released on all the usual streaming platforms (Apple Music, Spotify, etc). Just look for The Recordist and you’ll find what I’ve got there. Cheers!
I hate you ❤ guess I’ll have to find out what this sounds like on a Welsh voice! On another note, your British ‘that’s another video altogether’ sounds like Del Preston from Wayne’s world 2,
Hahahah. So sorry about that. I try to get my hands on really good, timeless products and review them here. Eventually I’ll have reviewed all the best ones at varying price points and then it’s all here to decide between for viewers. Until then, it’s a new great one every week! Oh I’m sure I’ll come across some crappy ones on the way, so you’ll have a break then. Hahaha. Cheers!
@@Dwoalin hahaha. So sorry. The 208 is a killer mic but it’s best suited for closeup VO type stuff like ad reads as a way to cut through. But honestly, it takes EQ so well, it can be used for anything. The T2 is a spectacular mic for narration or for all kinds of music recording. It’s a Jack of all trades. But the T2 does have a bit of a mid-kick. Hard choices, eh? Best way to do it is to try to find a way to test them out.
For the love of God, stop, I can't be broke before Christmas! (Awesome review as always, by the way, and on an unrelated note, I thoroughly enjoyed your VO performance for Lauten Audio's Rim Mount.)
Informative and the most fun to watch reviews in this universe and any others!! I think though, like someone else said below, that a 4400 shootout with the T2 would be really helpful. Keep preserving that time you beautiful madman!!!!
Hahaha. Wow. Thanks so much! The T2 vs 4400 is coming! So sorry about that! I ran out of time! I was building a preamp and then realized I hadn’t made this week’s video yet. Sorry about that!
@@TheRecordist oh my gosh no apologies necessary! Just mentioning a wish, and I totally understand videos is entertaining as yours take a lot of time and energy and I truly appreciate your work and the time it takes!
@@TheRecordist no apologies necessary whatsoever! The kind of magic your videos are takes time to make and I deeply appreciate it! Also I forgot to mention how much I loved the song that you made about the T2, I’ve been humming it and it’s super catchy!
@@TheRecordist no apologies necessary whatsoever! You’re doing amazing work and I understand magic takes time to happen so no worries at all. Also, I wanted to mention I really liked the song that you made for this microphone! I found myself humming it hours later.
@@simonsayshomeassistant oh thanks very much! My studio is more gear than visual appeal. Haha. Unfinished basement. Tons of moving blankets and layers of curtains everywhere. But it looks great on camera! One day I’ll finish the studio but no time soon. I have videos to make! Cheers!
John, glad to see you survived T2! I’m generally not a fan of multi pattern mics….I like to it simple. Oh…T1? But….that looks like real doozie! Ps, you’re lookn good in the booth…….sounding good to!
I have a very very similar story with telecasters over my guitar playing journey. I hated teles. I am left handed so I don't have many options. I tried every other shape and style, but I finally got one a couple years back and unfortunately it is the most useful guitar I own. I track it, I tour with it, I fly with it, I do demos with it. It blows everything else out of the water. To be honest I still kinda hate it. I hate the way it looks and I hate how blocky it is. I get there is a romance to how "simple" it is but I like my comforts. My favorite guitar to play is an Ibanez RG550 if that gives you any idea. But I have to admit its damn useful.
Wow. That’s very well said! Man, I used to have an Ibanez RX which I used to call the Ibanez PRESCRIPTION. That was an awesome guitar. Loved it. Don’t know why I got rid of it. But yes, the Tele is an extremely useful guitar. I know exactly what you mean.
Your song sounded a lot like Tenacious D lol. I really love your videos. Informative and extremely entertaining! Even if I'm not interested in the mic I still watch!
Hey thanks so much! You know, I get the Tenacious D reference about as much I get the Robin Williams one. I very much appreciate both! And thanks for watching! Cheers!
Yes. That was also great version. The Serkis version has been wildly popular of late - becoming one of the top sellers on Audible. And thanks very much!
