Why are the boys wearing long trousers and not shorts, would better to go a long with the girls short skirts. May be make the short orange as well, instead of short skirts for the girls maybe something mid length, won't effect their playing or movement, just seems a bit sexist to me.
The school started as an all-girls school, and in 1961, a brass band was established, and at the same time marching was also started for the sake of health. At that time, it seems that they tried to express femininity rather than the style of a military band. This uniform was designed by a female graduate several years later. Since then, it has become a dream come true for girls who join to the band. In 2000, the school became co-educational, with a small number of boys joining to the band each year, and uniform was also created. These uniforms are steeped in history.
This is one of their trademarks. They have been wearing this style of uniform for a couple of decades at least. Fully approved by the parents, the school administration, and of course the kids.@@user-je4hj2ml4b
What I read. These guys and girls practice every evening throughout the year. I mean it. Every evening throughout the year. There are breaks only a few days during Christmas season. And they all join the band not because of compulsion but out of passion and dedication. That's how it should be.
Except for the first song "Wintergames" and the last song "Sing Sing Sing", they change the songs every year. Of course, they also play some songs that they've played before.
@@melmarcus7010 In addition to stage drills like this video, in the parades, starting with "Down by the Riverside" they play every year more than 10 different songs without sheet music . And in the seated performance, they play a variety of songs including different classical pieces every year . I hope you enjoy them.
