So I actually have a funny story about this: "Mr. Tyrone" When I'd been younger (3-5) I had been at a daycare at my local community college and Mr. Tyrone was one of my favorite people to play with. Later on when I was in middle school I happened to go to a magnet school that had a rough reputation since it was located in the poorest section of the county but it had an excellent science program (most science fair kids would end up getting 1st - 3rd in state consistently). Cut to some random Tuesday afternoon where I'd stayed later for track practice, and we went through the basketball court to get to the restrooms and the basketball team was getting reamed out by the coach - now they were an excellent team but they could misbehave for sure. As I walk in BAM there's Mr. Tyrone doing his thing and we both see each other and I go: "Mr. Tyrone!?" and he immediately comes over to give me a hug and ask how everything has been. 30s go by and we both go to our respective teams but it reinforced for me the importance of relationships with folks - being remembered for being good and how it impacts you even years later.
