For over 35 years I’ve been involved in flying Radio Controlled gliders.
From lazy and slow thermal flying to action packed Dynamic Soaring, I’ve pretty much had a chance to do it all.
One of my favourite things is to share this incredible way of flying with everyone that crosses my path and RC Soaring Diaries is a way for me to share it all on a grander scale.
From flying, tutorials, product reviews, general knowledge that I’ve learnt about the hobby that has been passed down to me and my many adventures. My aim is to have some content on this channel for everyone.
Hope you all enjoy the content on here and please subscribe for instant updates about new content and what’s happening in my world!
My deviant wing developed a crack on the bottom of the wing about 20 mm from the launch peg running from front to back. I've reached out to armsoar about a week ago and haven't gotten a response back from them. Can you point me in the direction for affecting a proper repair on this wing. It's my first composite plane and the resources I've found so far on you tube are pretty lacking.
I'm looking to get into dlg's and I think a 1m might work better for me but most online experts say the 1m are too twitchy for a newbie to dlg's and I'd be better off with a 1.5m bird. Any thoughts? I've been hunting around the Edmonton sites looking for a used bird but none ever vome up. I guess dlg's are not very popular.
Nice! Curious about what planform you used for the wing. I was just looking through the polyhot/polymild thread on rcgroups and it looked like there was no reference planform in the thread? Looks like whatever you used works well.
Are you a former MMA-fighter? At least you share the looks of one. Nice flying and DS is definitely worth a try. Edit: No, you must be the illusionist, am I right? Well MMA is also about illusions, so I was pretty close.
Hello, I am kinda newish to slope soaring and live in Calgary. Looks like you might be my guy for a source of info and a way to meet other enthusiasts in the area. Want to go fly so you can check out my gliders and give me some critiques? I am figuring it out but kinda stabbing in the dark on a few aspects of my scratch builds. Cheers, great video!
@@rcsoaringdiaries5813 Thanks for the reply! I have been called away traveling for work at the moment but will send you a message when I am back in Calgary. Happy flying!
Not sure if you are checking these or not but I just had a phenomenal day on the embankment that catches the air coming from lake minniwanka. It's crown land on the edge of the mountains with logging clear cut on top of about 150' very steep river embankment and the minniwanka valley really funnels the air square with the hill. Best site I have found yet. Going nack next weekend for sure.
The best of life ever.. I wouldn't say how many times I have watched this vlog. There is much in all of us that wants to be a Chris. Thanks for sharing Mike.
Bob B Very nice plane, I do have cnc and aspire software, do you have some more information to share on the cnc work you did? would like to make something like the Tantrum.
That's was a brilliant video. You explained dynamic soaring well, kept it entertaining and I could actually see and hear the glider!! I've tried watching some other videos but it's just a camera panning up and down with no signs of the glider. 🤣
Thanks!!! Glad you liked it. Wanted to do a video that was different than everything else out there and actually described how DSing works in layman's terms.
@mike - if you don't know about it, might want to give Gorilla Glue Clear a try sometime. GG Clear is a poly glue like GG White and is also water activated but it does not foam/expand, so a good substitute for epoxy in an application like this. cheers
Thanks for the tip! I use both GG PU and GG PU white with some moisture for expansion for quite a number of repairs and builds. Ill check out the clear!!!
