BMW was speeding at a busy junction on a bend, his reaction wasn’t justified but expected from a bmw driver 😂 (no offence to decent bmw drivers)

Can you modify a cat v.8 engine to fit a standard Ford tractor? How much does the modified engine cost?

What about the Cockshutt 580? One still exists. Or maybe the White 4-325? One of those is still around too.

Did you have to plumb the ports up in the radiator for the oiler cooler?
@dirt_and_diesel
@dirt_and_diesel 9 месяцев назад
Yeah exactly that. The ports are on the wrong side of the tractor which make it a bit of a pain too
@Ron-ok4vm
@Ron-ok4vm 8 месяцев назад
Do you run the engine oil through any cooler? , I’m putting a 7.5 genesis in my 8700 from a new holland 8340 basically a straight bolt in Just not sure if that engine needs needs running through an oil cooler on the radiator or not
@dirt_and_diesel
@dirt_and_diesel 8 месяцев назад
Sorry I think I misunderstood your question the first time. The oil cooler ports that are in the bottom of the radiator didn’t get used, no as the water runs through a large oval oil cooler that’s on the side of the block before going into the block/pump etc so I didn’t feel the need to use the radiator based oil cooler. 40 series engine will be so much easier to put in. The oil feed and return ports should also still be in the same place should you want to use the radiator based oil cooler using the 8700 steel pipes. If it’s a non turbo engine then should definitely run cool enough I think.
@Ron-ok4vm
@Ron-ok4vm 8 месяцев назад
Thanks for that info I’ve had to source a differnt radiator as mine was missing the radiator/air box panel and turns out it’s not that easy to get one here in Australia Its a turbo engine So I may have to run a seperate oil cooler perhaps something similar as the transmission/hydraulic cooler that’s on the front of them currently
@dirt_and_diesel
@dirt_and_diesel 8 месяцев назад
One other possibility is to put a later NH oil cooler on (a bit like mine) which replaces your existing oil filter housing. The oil ports are the same so that is a bolt on job but the water will need to be plumbed through it. I’m not really an expert on it all but what did the original 8340 use for an oil cooler? Could try and replicate that?

The 2 wheel drive 200 plus horsepower tractor in JD colors is i think an Australian Chamberlin because they were famous for their 2 wheeldrive monster tractors with upto 360 hp i think .

Great work. Great videos! Did you get the gear for the steering pump? We have a few here ready to bolt on if you need one. Could you put this conversion in a playlist to make easy viewing from the start?

In the states it probably is known as a dog engine but in the UK, it’s a novelty. Nothing in the UK sounds as good as those crappy GM diesels

I did this same conversion on my 8700 here in Australia I used a motor from a 8340 Already had 6 bolt crank Power steering pump bolts straight on And the sump didn’t need swapping as it was already a cast one
@dirt_and_diesel
@dirt_and_diesel 11 месяцев назад
Yeah a 40 series engine is externally as close to the 401 as possible, it would slip right in. The 675, other than bell housing bolts and block length is set up very differently. Pretty much nothing else matches. 277hp though so it’s going to have a lot of variation

these massey ferguson series were not imported to my country, but a patented series was produced as the 285 and 265 series. unfortunately, they were produced at a very low level as hardware. the 285 version has a 75-horsepower perkins engine. It has only one hydraulic valve, and this 3-point hitch dependent running,so you can not use 3 point hitch and hyraulic valve same time which is what I dislike most about the 265 and 285 versions produced with the massey ferguson patent in my country. Apart from that, there are a lot of people who love these tractors, which have been produced since the 1980s, and they are still very popular where I live. because everything is mechanical, and even if the malfunction is a very small problem, you can solve the problem yourself. At last i from turkey :D

Ha, that's spooky. I was just thinking last week its been ages since you put anything on RU-vid and this pops up today - the day I'm at the Cambridge Tractor Auction. Would be good to see how you get on with your Mustang restoration if you have time to film any of it.

Great work well done, it's well worth the effort. Check out two similar converted Fords at Cathedral Mountain Railway on RU-vid. First video " Haymaking 2022 with classic Ford Tractors, Part 1 mowing, tedding and rowing up ". Second video, " Part 2 Baling, Tedding and loading small haybales." Our TW15 has a NH TX 66 combine engine fitted whilst out 8100 has a NH 8970 tractor engine fitted. They have been running faultlessly now for over 27 years since their engine swaps. These conversions are the best tractors that Ford never made.
