In this video, I learned about the three types of losses: shrinkage, defects, and spoilage. I also learned that normal loss is treated as a product cost, while abnormal loss is considered a period cost. Additionally, I gained an understanding of the necessary journal entries related to this topic

From the video lecture, I learned about the product costing system, which has two categories: job order costing and process costing. Job order costing is based on individual job orders and is used for producing heterogeneous, custom outputs. On the other hand, process costing is applied when outputs are homogeneous and produced in batches or through a continuous production process. Additionally, I learned that before computing a product cost, the first step is to identify the cost accumulation system. It is also essential to determine the appropriate valuation method to be used in the process.

Thank You Sir A! At naliwanagan na po kahit papano from reading the book po to watching this video po! So bali po ang applied overhead ang ginagamit po for the computation then it's either material po siya or immaterial. Kung material po it should be added (if under applied) or deduct (if over applied) sa work in process, finished good inventory and lastly cost of goods sold. Then yung sa part po computation neto is dapat iadd naten amount ng WIP, FGI, COGS and after adding po dapat po siya idivide po siya with there respective amount po sa total na nakuha naten. After dividing po it should be multiplied kung ano nakuhang sagot from the division then multiplied to the amount of applied factory overhead control. Kapag naman immaterial siya affected lang po siya sa COGS. Then ayon po temporary account ang over or under applied so it is really important to close it. Thank you Po!

I was initially confused, but after watching the video a second time, I understood the concepts better. I learned how to perform service cost allocation using the direct method. While I also discovered that there are three methods for service cost allocation-direct, step, and algebraic method. Thank you, Sir A! ❤

This video taught me the following: - The purchase price is what we record in the inventory balances. - The selling price is not used for the cost of goods sold. - The balance column represents the ending balance inventory. - The unit cost in COGS depends on the costing method. Since we use the FIFO method, the cost of the first goods we buy should be used on the goods that will be disposed of.

To answer the question in the video lesson 5:41 , the MOH per unit is determined by dividing budgeted machine hours by units to be manufactured then multiply it to MOH per machine hours Ex.: 20,000/10,000*76=152 Thank you for the video lecture sir!

This video lecture helped me understand the difference between the plantwide overhead rate and the departmental overhead rate. When calculating the overhead rate for each department, it's crucial to identify the appropriate cost driver for every department to avoid errors. Thank you for this, Sir A! ❤

I learned about the difference between the actual cost system and the normal cost system. I learned that Actual cost is best for getting the precise/actual amount of costs however it would be difficult to allocate if we encounter delays and lags in the recognition of transactions. On the other hand, the normal cost system uses predetermined OH rates resolving the problem in cost recognition for the period, although it may not be as accurate as actual cost.

In this video, I learned a new cost that we have to take note of in a manufacturing business, and that is quality cost. I believe analyzing quality costs is integral, especially in a huge production company, as it will help improve the quality of the products and reduce costs that they may incur.

Based on what I understood from the previous video and given that the table is missing the expected machine hours per unit, I will calculate the manufacturing overhead per unit as follows: First, I’ll divide the budgeted machine hours by the number of units to be manufactured to determine the expected machine hours per unit. Then, I’ll multiply this result by the manufacturing overhead per machine hour.
@FranceskaFollero
@FranceskaFollero Месяц назад
This video lecture taught me the basis needed to calculate predetermined overhead. I also discovered that the total budgeted overhead cost should match the total manufacturing overhead allocated; if they don’t, there may be an error in the computation. I appreciate that Sir A presented this concept from two different perspectives. Thank you for this, Sir A! ❤

I learned that underapplied and overapplied overhead occurs with normal costing. I also learned how to calculate the predetermined overhead rate. Additionally, I discovered that the disposition of overhead variances depends on their materiality. If the variance is immaterial, it is closed to Cost of Goods Sold. However, if the variance is material, it is allocated to Work in Process, Finished Goods Inventory, and COGS based on the percentage you've computed. Thank you for this, Sir A! ❤

In this video, I learned about two cost systems: the actual cost system and the normal cost system. Additionally, I discovered that manufacturing overhead doesn’t go directly to Work-in-Progress Inventory; instead, it is first recorded in a temporary account called the Overhead Control Account. Thank you, Sir A! ❤

This video taught me the importance of cost allocation in cost accounting. In this video, I learned about the importance of manufacturing overhead in cost allocation. It covered three main topics; the effect of automation or computerization, the difference between Fixed Manufacturing Overhead (FMOH) vs. Variable Manufacturing Overhead (VMOH), and Quality Cost. The video clarified the difference between product costs and period costs. Product costs are directly related to manufacturing, including direct materials, labor, and overhead, and are capitalized on the balance sheet. Period costs, such as administrative and selling expenses, are not tied to production and are expensed in the period they occur. Thank you, Sir A! ❤
@FranceskaFollero

The video explained the three main types of inventory in manufacturing: Raw Materials, Work-in-Progress, and Finished Goods. Raw Materials are materials available for production, WIP includes goods still being made, and Finished Goods are completed products ready for sale. Each type has its own schedule and impact on cost calculations. Thank you, Sir A! ❤

The video helped me to understand the process of calculating the Cost of Goods Sold for a manufacturing business. I learned that before arriving at this figure, you need to determine Raw Materials Used, Total Manufacturing Cost, and Cost of Goods Manufactured. Understanding these steps and their proper categorization is crucial for an accurate Income Statement. Thank you, Sir A! ❤
