Wrong. This may have given an Execution of stay , but eventually it was Mary Barra’s decision to sell off Vauxhall / Opel to PSA was the beginning of the end for Holden. Next she decided to pull GM out of all RHD markets . Even if Holden had increased its market share and sold more Commodore’s than they did during their bump years with the VT/VX models, she still would have killed off Holden .To simply blame Abbot/ Hockey is just plain uneducated. The government obviously picked up on rumours of GM Detroit not being as. Committed to Holden as they had been I the past, so they wanted them to come clean. Funny how you don’t blame LABOR Senator Button for devising his plan to rationalise car manufacturers in Australia, and to reduce the import tariff’s every year rom ‘83 -‘92 . Take you Labor - issued Horse blinkers off and look at the bigger picture… 🤔

*FAKE MOON LANDING CONSPIRACY ENTHUSIASTS* A group of people who very likely suffer from an array of psychological issues. Chief among which is. Identity-Protective Cognition. There are certain markers that preclude those who fall for the denier's schemes and tactics. For example. These markers overlap when dealing with conspiracy theorists and those that deny facts due to their feelings. It all has to do, apparently, with not feeling special, or having low self esteem/insecurities mixed with deep-seated trust issues, likely brought on by trauma, and an insatiable desire to feel important; What would make someone feel more important than thinking they know better than all of the scientific community. It’s a desperate ploy and vicious cycle of needing to feel important, And a sense that they belong to a 'special' inner circle of 'in the know' people who are the custodians of 'Truth' 😎

Then, while the USA was flying all of those Gemini missions to catch up (and surpass), the Soviets didn't fly a single manned space mission. Yes, through the entirety of the USA Gemini program, all 10 flights of it, the Soviets sat and watched. And, by Apollo, the Soviets had fallen so far behind that there was no hope of catching up, and they kept blowing up their N1 moon rockets, which they never got a single successful liftoff. They started the space race so far ahead, and then fizzled out and threw in the towel.

Ridiculous nonsense. Dozens of countries tracked the Apollo missions with radar and radio telescopes. Spain and Australia received the TV broadcasts from the moon. Spain took photos of the SIVB fuel dumps around the moon. Dozens of countries use the laser reflector arrays left on the moon by some of the Apollo missions. China and India have each individually taken photos of some of the landing sites using their lunar orbiters, showing the landers exactly where they're supposed to be. I could go on for hours here. The fact that you don't know ANY of that is very telling. You've never looked. And, given that I myself have given you this info before, just demonstrates (yet again) that you don't read answers to your own comments and questions.

The tariff is what kept the car industry alive in Australia. Sure, as shit it wasn't the cars. Changing the grill or tail lights is about the best you could hope for, mechanical they were pretty much all the same as the model 20 years earlier. I can remember my old man's 1974 model Peugeot having 4 wheel disc brakes, standard on their cars, Holden/Ford it was about 1990. People accepted it and took it until they saw what the Japanese could produce for same sort of money, all over then

My opinion which is far from professional or credible at all , is thank god for the thin walls they had installed on the lem and the service module may have saved them because the blast was able to be directed out and away from the sèrvice module, if those walls were more thick than they were i think way more damage would have occured 😮

I bothers me that the early astronauts thought that only experienced pilots should "fly" into space. First of all, most of the inputs were computerized, anyway. Secondly, after leaving the Earth's atmosphere, there was no need for a pilot experienced with aerodynamic forces. Quite the contrary. A scientist who understood Newton's Laws of Motion was, perhaps, more qualified to handle a spacecraft, in space, in microgravity. Finally, scientists knew what to look for. They knew, in a fraction of a second, what was geologically relevant and what was less so. It was all fine and good to get test pilots to jump up and down on the surface of the moon. But so what?! What did that actually achieved?! One the other hand, when scientists got involved, we made huge leaps on our understanding of how the Earth and other bodies of the solar system formed.
@rockethead7
@rockethead7 5 месяцев назад
You have missed the point entirely. Test pilots tend to be people who can react well under pressure, and who get in tune with the machines they fly to a much greater level than a "normal" pilot. They know their craft's every nut, bolt, and circuit. And, given that most of these people were also engineers, they not only were very good at testing unproven aircraft, but, they were also quite able to understand how it all worked, and would be far better prepared to deal with problems than "just a pilot" or a scientist would. There were several geologists that were selected to go to the moon. And, after the first 5 or 6 landings, the intention was to keep putting geologists in the right "seat" (not a seat, but, you get the point). However, when Apollo got cut prematurely, there was only one mission that they could send a geologist, so, yes, Schmitt flew. But, had there been an Apollo 18, 19, 20, ... 35, 36, etc., there'd be geologists in the right "seat" on every mission.

One has to ask why the corporations went to such trouble and expense to remove the human being from their manufacturing model. I assume that it was not to give the workers more free time but rather because they were a limiting factor. Who’s fault that was is also up for debate but it’s a pattern repeated all over the world as societies developed and became more prosperous. People priced themselves out of the market.

The American space program was paid for with Germany’s WW2 gold reserves . These massive amounts of gold were captured by General Patton .
@rockethead7
@rockethead7 6 месяцев назад
A) Wrong. There wasn't enough German gold found to pay for Apollo. Not by a long shot. Adjusting into today's money, they found about $4 billion in German gold. And, adjusting into today's money, Apollo costed about $300 billion in hard costs, and another $100 to $150 billion in soft costs and international support. So, you're way off by a factor of around 100x. B) Huh? Do you really believe that they kept it, saved it for decades, then spent it on Apollo? What are you talking about? What wasn't looted was divided among the countries hardest hit by the war.
