Such a pity this wonderful performance was marred by the young people in the front row showing so little respect for either the church they were in or the two musicians.
Do I hear a vox on trem around 4:30? It is a particularly good one. This masterpiece of an instrument has the battleship power of an H & H, but the softer registers are sweet and beguiling too.
There are 2 earlier videos of Justin playing this piece. One before a wedding as people were coming in, and the second as part of a competition. Most videos of this are for marching or concert bands. From Chicago, U.S.A.
Oh how beautiful Justin, you are certainly the best organist I listen to. The organ is just amazing, all the pipes, a gorgeous instrument. It was certainly meant for you to play.
WONDERFUL, greetings from Stockholm, Sweden. From wikipedia- Camille Saint-Saens commented after the premiere: "The appearance of the Messe Saint-Cécile caused a kind of shock. This simplicity, this grandeur, this serene light which rose before the musical world like a breaking dawn, troubled people enormously. … at first one was dazzled, then charmed, then conquered." ---He ranked the mass among the best works by Gounod: "In the faint distant future when inexorable time has completed its work and the operas of Gounod are forever in repose in the dusty sanctuary of libraries, the Messe de Sainte Cécile, the Rédemption and the oratorio Mors et Vita will still retain life."
John Innes is an awesome organist at the Moody Church in Chicago. His son attended the same Christian college I attended in Winona Lake, Indiana. His arrangement with Bill Fasig is wonderful and you have two gentleman here who played the arrangement beautifully.
Sounds like you're incorporating some Scott Joplin along with a few other and most likely yourself in this beautiful piece; makes for beautiful improvisation.
I've just discovered your channel and subscribed; you have an amazing music program and wished I lived closer to your church. Not of your faith but would love to visit. 🙂🙂🙂🙂
That was soooooo beautiful; couldn't stop smiling as you guys were making those instruments sing bringing back memories of my childhood!! I'm a pianist so quite naturally I gravitated to the pianist and those amazing runs, chords, and magnificent interpretations, however, of you both. I listened over and over and over. Thank you for sharing your amazing talents!!!!!!
Difficult to comprehend how the congregation exited as though the place was on fire instead of appreciating this awesome presentation of this great Toccata!
