and another thing is, wtf is the alternative? if there was a better option that was like oldschool seige....i would leave asap to play it. but theres not....seige is still #1.....for this typa game. if there is some similar game idk about plz lmk. i miss old seige!
The amount of just terrible people I meet on siege is wild now. I played through OG Cod and Halo days and it’s just different than that. The hatred is different… but I have still met some really good chill people that don’t go tell you to die because you have a bad game…
Apparently the game has gotten better. I haven't played since the start of Y5 I think. I tried getting back into the game recently but all the changes are overwhelming and I feel like shit because I'm out of practice and not as good as I was.
Maybe we can boycott Ubisoft into returning to sieges old roots. If the community unites, maybe we can push them into changing it, into the game we all loved and enjoyed:)
As someone who played the alpha beta and played since the game even released, tbh is vid hurt so much to watch because i witnessed the downfall of my roman empire, literally was driven away from it, all to return to it and play it in its new saddened state
I just found this video today and I'm very sad that I've actually did fined this but now I want to go back to early 2017 siege and relive all the fun memories again old house smg11 Sledge all of that
Good editing but full of bs. It's full of nostalgia but it seems you forgot how bad was siege at release. The cheater epidemic didn't come at year 3. It was there , since realse and it was harcore. Fairfight was so bad, that almost no cheater was banned. Battleye first ban wave was seen as a benediction. But it did'nt last long. You also forgot to mention the huge security problem with the full IP address of every players was not secured. There was so many DDOS attack in the first year. .......
Blackbeard's shield did not break at his implementation. That was the first sign the game was going downhill fast. The next season, the map was so beyond atrociously bad that most of the game modes for it got removed even from casual. The Japanese season was alright, but we now had two hard breach ops so it made it less important to play tactically as attackers. By the time we got the attack operator that could "hack" the defender cams, I was done. The game turned into a joke.
God it actually makes me sad to see this. its the same feeling of watching a close friend or family member be come a different person due to hardcore drugs. i was a day one player all the way up too year 5 season 2, i stopped playing due to life reasons. i am just now getting back into it and man its just a whole new game, its crazy how much pro player dick ubisoft will suck, but its what brings in the money. i just wish there was a way to go back to 2015-2019 siege
i never shared this online but when they released alpha packs before they did i went over to friend's house who had no internet and i launched siege on my ps4 and the i noticed the selection menu was different and there was a new alpha pack button everytime i would press it siege would crash. Core memory
Live service is one of video games most overlooked tragedies. The game you love can slowly change into something different with each update, and it will never come back no matter how much you beg or plead. Im not even sure if siege still has the same developers anymore to be honest, it feels like everything from the introduction harry onwards shouldve been Siege 2 instead of mutating the game from a "realistic" tactical shooter to a sci-fi champion based shooter. I would give anything to play year 1, 2, or 3 siege, but sadly that game doesnt exist anymore. Theres a shell in its place, with a different soul at its core
So real. They now realized that in order to bring some players back they will have to make the game somehow fun again. Giving Acog back to some of the OG operators is a good call but its not enough. I wish they reversed everything to how it was in 2017-2018 (graphics , movement etc) and just keep all the new operators and maps. The game would skyrocket. I dont understand how they dont realize that.

Honestly we should get a poll on how many RB6 players have played the vegas series if you havent then you dont know the true RB6 franchise Siege is not what defines the Rainbow Six genre that tom clancy created in reality rainbow six siege is a spit in toms face
I got Siege for my 14th birthday back in January 2016. It was my friends and my go-to after school activity for about 2 years straight. I finally got high plat in Operation Health and it felt brilliant. School exams in 2018 reduced our playtime and we eventually faded out by Parabellum. I'm now 22 and recently my group came back to play Siege regularly and it's been brilliant but its not the game I remember. There's so much to relearn and I'm behind the meta by about 4 years. But there is something in the heart of the game that just makes me remember why I love this game so much. Whilst we enjoy playing it, Ranked 2.0 is abysmal, and the excitement I felt at reaching Plat back in 2017 just isn't possible today. I really hope they move onto Ranked 3.0 asap and bring back the emotion of ranking up.

Has anything actually changed in the year since this was created? Played since alpha.. Daily.. Untill about 2018.. Then on and off.. Is it worth picking it back up now on 2024?
It’s actually pretty fun in Quickplay where it is right now, but to say this is the same universe as the Clancy novel is a biiit of a stretch. I mean they HAD a prototype heartbeat sensor in the novel, but that was basically the extent of their gadgetry. Full-body holograms? Electro-shields? Oh fuck no. Honestly it’s like they wanted to make a new breacher IP but HAD to cash in on the Clancy name. Something set like 100 years in the future
Siege changed so much, you could actually say that its a completely different game now. They made the movement and gunplay worse over the years. What these stupid devs dont know is that slow movement/gunplay ≠ more tactical gameplay. They can nerf the fun out all they want but if most of the community doesnt care about tactical play anymore there is nothing you can do. Most people with a functioning brain left years ago anyway.
Siege was ultimately hated by its developers. Players would find gameplay mechanics and combos and the devs would remove the fun out of every possible approach. The removal of ACOGs for "balance" reasons left almost all operators with dogshit options. If there was an OP operator, instead of addressing the issue directly (like Ela's ROF and magazine capacity) they would "balance" them with dogshit uncontrollable recoil or piss poor damage, or make them 2 speed instead of 3. As time went on, there was less and less content per season. Every season in the beginning changed the meta drastically, with some seasons even turning the game upside down and feeling constantly refreshing. Later on, there were not even new weapons added, operators gadgets were unimaginative or repetitive, no new maps for a while, maps getting reworked for no reason and at times into worse versions. Devs hated 3 speeds, quick leaning and fast paced action, but offered no alternative in the strategic realm. More and more gadgets were introduced that required no skill, had no risk and even no or barely any counter. As more operators were introduced, the meta became an unpredictable mess that would make players just run a "default" that would work for most enemy operators combinations. Long gone were the days of learning what the enemy was running and choosing operators to counter that. The release of what KixStar called "one button" operators was the last straw. Lion could push a button and with absolutely no risk, could make the entire enemy team stand still. Dokkaebi could push one button and make the entire enemy team make noise. Ilana could gather info without any possible counter other than getting shot (which would still gather her info of at least one enemy). Trap operators turned insanely annoying where at times you would get into a door and always be hit by blinding effects, slowing of sensitivity, noise, slowness or all of them combined. The insane amount of annoyance made people just go for kills. entirely contradicting what the devs intended. I had almost 2000 hours in Siege but the game turned into a snoozefest after Y4 or so. The introduction of map voting and operator bans, while initially good, just made the game even slower, with queing, banning and first prep phase usually taking more than 5 minutes. The banning initially was in virtually match, the exact same, with people banning Thatcher and Mira every single time. Map voting also led to the same maps beig played over and over again. This led to some maps being almost impossible to play while you were forced to play Oregon almost 50% of the time. Even the graphics and the character designs suffered a downfall. Siege was initially a gritty serious shooter (the Article 5 cinematic is a good example). Now there's bunny skins, and "sassy" characters all around. The voice lines instead of being cold and tactical sounding sound like banter out of a Valorant match. Graphics turned into all pale cartoonish looking for the sake of competitiveness.
it pisses me of now because i got this game in may or april of 2023 and i just wish i could tell my younger self to get this game when it came out it honestly makes me want to cry that i didnt get to be apart of one of the greatest games i have ever played but i just have to hope the game pulls a fortnite and does a legacy update and goes back to the black ice update with some of the features of the new siege and even a new anti cheat.\
"Tom Clancy" what a crock. If he were alive he'd be suing to remove his name from it. Rick and Morty headgear and Halloween outfits? Anime skins? It's basically Fortnite now. Watch any Tom Clancy movie (Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, Sum of All Fears, Without Remorse, the Jack Ryan series) or better yet read Rainbow Six the book and you'll see what a travesty this game is from where it came from.
I started playing siege in the middle of operation: black ice, i saw it live its golden age, i remember how i would get home from school and play siege for hours. I remember when the halloween sledge event was over, my friends and i would hop on a custom game house and play there. I'm sad to see it die like this. (I apologize for any grammar mistakes, i am not a native english speaker.)
