As effortless as all you know As inactive as a charm This vessel's lowly stowaway is armed Let the credits rave and let the critics roll As the groom runs down the aisle In a hail of bullets I just throw a towel And write the bride out A second life, a second hand, a view of space With an elephant obstructing it I'm splashing grays where once was glowing white I hit the pavement in the sunlight And I would beg the kids to just come outside and play But I'd take the ball away What is a sorry state when you can't believe your eyes? You'll gladly take as second prize Oh, and there are prophecies you'll only prophesize Over niceties and gin And now you're asking, I don't know where to begin Oh, and all the critics rave as the credits roll They kept us wet behind the ears So we'll be speaking in hushed tones for fifty years Take this heart and wear it on the outside Oh, and as the rain comes down like a tickertape parade The tears slow and dissipate Oh, and as the blood and sweat You've invested evaporates You'll have tried, but you won't make it pay Sign this and file it under dumbstruck envy That'll strike you down Sightless, the comfort in the danger Enticing, I join the queue Mindlessly, I made her in my likeness Scattered and absolute Silent and transparent The one who holds the candle to the glow of you
Saw these live way back when they were supporting Biffy at the start of their run; bought this album at the gig, played it for my friends when I got back and none of them got it. 🤦♀ I saw the band again later in the Barfly - a venue barely big enough to swing a cat in at the time! Many years later, it's nice to see them get at least some of the recognition they deserve :D
So, many years later I see a biffy clyro studio concert of sorts on tv and realize the singer of Oceansize is backup guitarist for Biffy Clyro. Like seeing Thom Yorke sing backup for Muse.
Milling round, encroaching on My right of way and under the Battle scars of Daddy's latest lesson Little time for intuition Little time for cry-babies Come on son can't you not take a joke? More sticks and stones to break you It's freezing in here, can't even dress yourself Lie awake still waiting on a single bite of cherry for you Hold it in your arms Jeopardize what little you have See any further than your own faults A single bite of cherry for you And yours is not to question And down the road a shining haven (rocks), slaves and _ mothers Live around the corner from themselves You'll never break the chain will you? It's freezing in here, can't even dress yourself Lie awake still waiting on a single bite of cherry for you Hold it in your arms Don't jeopardize what little you have See any further than your own faults A single bite of cherry for you and yours is not to question Question it all, clutch your pride and all you could ever learn The sorrow __ no hope left for you to nurture I just wrote the ending years ago Way down the line Don't you run too far away from home Don't you trust what you have never known Don't go far remember where you are Remember where you are A single bite of cherry for you
@GumballMachine13 Did listen to them and have to say, they are surprisingly good! :) The song Goliath kicks ass! And also Simple Boy is good. Only thing I didn't like that much is the voice of the singer: for me it's too high pitched and too "clean". But all in all indeed good sound from that band, thanx for the heads up!
Quite possibly the most perfect song ever written. This song has everything you look for in a great song : feeling, meaning, sorrow, anger, hope and joy, melody, harmony, complexity, simplicity and is beautifully composed and performed. We miss you Oceansize. The whole you left in the world of music is truly oceansized...
