P.S. A word regarding postage and delivery. Be careful if you choose InPost lockers if you’re vertically challenged (like me)! The couriers tend to throw the parcels into the lockers - if they’re in the back of a top locker you won’t be able to reach it. I now take a long umbrella with a curved handle. I once had said problem and there was no tall person around to help, so in the end I had to close the locker without collecting my parcel. I informed InPost and the parcel was returned to the sender. Very annoying for both of us! I find Evri is the best option for me.

I’ve sold lots of unwanted stuff on Vinted, but I’ve found that some of the restrictions are rather odd. I wasn’t allowed to sell clean, used plant pots, yet I could sell clean, used vases! I can understand why used cosmetics are not allowed, but that includes partly used perfumes, whereas these can be sold on eBay. I’ve found that the sizing on Vinted is rather weird. To me, sizes 12-14 are medium, whereas on Vinted 12 is large and 14 is extra large!! For that reason, be careful when listing that you choose the correct size. I often find that I have to message sellers for actual measurements of clothing, because different makes differ so much. Therefore it helps the buyer and saves you time if you can include accurate measurements in your listings. If you find you’re being pestered for details, just make sure it’s all in the listing and refer buyers to it to avoid time wasters. Vinted is definitely great for selling everyday clothing, but since it’s not an auction and the prices are fixed, if you’ve got an item which you think may be highly sought after I would try eBay so that you can set a minimum reserve price and also maybe have bidders competing for it.

Cheers for the video. Could even use both of those items together for even better results, and it would still be cheaper than using a typical tumble dryer, and a bonus is that clothes won't stink when they're dry unlike with a tumble dryer... Absolute shite when tumble dryers do that aye. They cost a shit load, take up a fair amount of space, they're noisy and use loads of electricity and then waste a wash because they make clothes smell dodgy. Retarded 🥴

Frugality means you use things/money wisely, and then you have money for things that are important to you. 2024 is a no spend on new clothes, except from the thrift shop. Exceptions are underwear and good shoes. I started yoga and balance classes and bought inexpensive leggings. The classes are covered under Silver Sneakers in the US, which is free under Medicare. For me, the same is true for pocketbooks and earrings. I am retirement finally at 72, so I don't need as much.

With the high cost of living, food has becomes so significant. I found that packing a lunch is very important. I have been packing a lunch everyday to work without fail since Covid happened, prior to Covid I would probably eat out 1-3 times during lunch time. Lunch was an after thought that I tried to figure out in the morning. Now am consciously making a little more at dinner so there are lefts to make my lunch out of or pack for lunch the next day. I cook more at home these days keeping it simple so I can still do it on days am tired. I buy all my snacks that my family and I like to eat from the grocery store on the weekend, I find they are cheaper than the convenience smaller sizes you get for the convenience shops or from the vending machine or cafes. I shop once a week, if we miss anything then it will have to wait till next. We still eat out on anniversaries and birthdays but at the beginning of the month, we note what days those are. It helps when you feel like eating out for lunch or getting a take out you remember that next weekend is the actual designated eating out day. I also take good advance of it by researching resturant menu and deals and find there are a lot of them out there now because resturant business has been slow. Deciding to go to a particular restaurant for our eating out because they have a Sunday special of personalized pizzas for $8 on Sundays is great or a three course set menu event or a buffet lunch or a happy hour special brings back the fun in eating out and enables me hang on and wait till the designated date.

I don't consider myself an environmentalist, but I found it interesting that actions that are good for the environment are generally also good for the wallet and vice versa: Buy used instead of new as much as possible. Buy less. Reuse. Reduce waste. Reduce energy consumption.
@megamusicmessenger

That is very true. Most of the environmental cost is in the making of the item so by burying less new items is definitely both good for the environment and your wallet. A win win

I have ZERO DEBT. ... People need to learn to go without if you don't have the money.. Especially: Alcohol - no you don't deserve a bottle of wine if you can't afford it.. Cigarettes - NO you can't afford a pack of 20 if you kids are hungry. Nail done - if you don't have the money learn to do it yourself. More babies. Here in England, Doctors are free, Sexual health clinics are free, The 18 forms of Contraception the NHS provide for you is 100% free. Includes Vasectomy. Don't have more children than you can afford.

I love this! I used to find I was constantly buying new storage baskets and boxes. I finally realised this wasn't because my house was a mess, but because I just kept adding more and more stuff to it. Then i spent some time going through what I had, considering what I needed and that then fed into my buying habits.

One thing I've recently adopted is to move all my direct debits and standing orders to savings accounts etc to leave my account on the same day a few days after getting my monthly salary. Things like subscriptions where it can be hard to move the payment date, I pay from a credit card instead but have standing orders set-up to move money from my current account into the credit card in preparation for its forthcoming payment. All the money that remains in my current account is exactly what I have to spend. I find it creates that mental barrier that makes you ask the question "do I need it now" whenever I am tempted to spend money on something.
@TheMummyBubble

Such a great idea, it is so much easier when you're clear with about what money you actually HAVE to spend on stuff.

I was a stay at Home mom with no money in my IRA or any savings of my own, which was scary at 43 years of age. Three years ago I got a part time job and save everything I make. After 3 years, I am 46 yo and have put $9,000 in an IRA and $40,000 in my portfolio with CFA, Kathie Daisy Bosco. Since the goal of getting a job was to invest for retirement and NOT up my lifestyle, I was able to scale this quickly to $150,000. If I can do this in a year, anyone can.

Cancel out of all tabs immediately! Asap! Go outside, take a stretch. Pause before "Buy now" Has saved me on multiple occasions. And I was actually thinking about this....but it would be a neat idea to allocate one day every 2 weeks to "today is my shop day". Like......Make Friday your only day you're allowed to shop (w/ a budget ofc) so that forces the rest of the days to wait. I thought of this just today because I really want some great mood lighting for my day room/library And a fancy bluetooth clock that has rainbow colors..... But I know I already spent my budget and I need to give myself money for the rest of the week in case I need it for something more important. You can always find discounts on things. Even if you miss a discount, it WILL happen again. Honest.
@TheMummyBubble
@TheMummyBubble 12 дней назад

I admit, I have the advantage of age, and total lack of motivation to go shopping, and this helps. My much loved un-niece says I am so uncool that I'm cool! With wedding stuff, I remind myself that the day isn't aboout me, so I can just wear my best outfit and blend into the background. With purchases online, I have a shopping list and get what I need only. At the moment, I am updating my home a little, and buying things from Facebook Marketplace and funding it by selling other stuff that I no longer need. It's rather fun. My influencers are mostly on the subject of living below my means, so are not a problem. To be honest, I had never heard of the people you were talking about, so it really doesn't bother me.
