Big job! I tried it with a 51, but half way through, changed plans and ended up making it a 4" chopped 2 door convertible. Still looked insane.Good luck👍
It would be just as easy to turn it back to stock, And it probably never will rust out again, I was just fiddling with the idea of doing something stronger. The Chevy I have to get back on. I want to get that thing on the road this year at least driving, just been too damn busy and then I get on the side projects, and split my time. But I will get back on it. I just keep having these really good deals fall in my lap lol
I see no reason to not just repair it back to original. For one it will never rust out again like that in your lifetime, mainly for two reasons, you probably won't be driving it in the snow and salt and the other one you probably won't keep it that long. By the way, whats happening to your Chevy custom on the vette chassis?
I've owned 13 El-Caminos, I bought a 72 just like that, but it was green in color, it had a bad transmission, and the front in was worn out. Exhaust was rusted out. It had the snap on cover over the bed, great interior. I paid $700.00, turned out to be a great "ELLIE" after the repairs. Great find there, brought back memories, I too winched it out a garage.
Awesome videos man I'm binging them all. Buying all the parts for this conversion as we speak. Already have the outer sheet metal bits included quarter panels. Just need the structure
Thank you I really appreciate that. Make sure you get a rear glass. Because you’re going to need that in order to set the quarter panels. That’s really important. Set the glass the rubber and the moldings. Then Tack your pieces in the place.
@@chicobooze1 No problem I really enjoy watching the videos This is something I always wanted to do but was always too afraid of messing up but I feel like it's time for me to give it a try
So, looking good. I was wondering, what did you use to piece in the gap you had to fill on the door window frame and posts. Did you use a piece from a donor door or did you fab up a filler piece from sheet metal?
Keep the videos coming. I started watching the Mustang conversion and have been hooked since. Really enjoy seeing your progress and great work! Watching from Australia!!
@@chicobooze1 do you still have your other builds? I love your workshop but don't see all the projects? I hope after all that work you don't sell them off!
Just bought a 73 sportster and looking to do the same thing, great job. Just wandering did you try using the original crossover shaft and link it on the left side?
It’s on a Paughco frame, so it doesn’t have the provisions for the jack shaft. So I was thinking about making something else work. And what I came up with was this. And it works really well. I just would use Heim joints and Stouder metal.
I used the factory Corvette frame From a 92 Corvette. Stretched it to fit underneath the 54. I left it for weight distribution. I think I might track this car.
Really busy. I should actually give more time to my channel. And I will start doing that. There’s so much that I do that I don’t video. I’ll still might find it interesting so I’ll get better at that.
I swapped the hinges from left to right and vice versa. Set the doors welded the hinges in place. And used the hinge pins to remove the doors. Did the same with the door latch mechanism Just grafted it from each door. And then welding in the striker plate
