Hey! I am starting at UT soon and am renting a room in what appears to be the same building that you have rented in. I have heard differing opinions from different people about the quality of the situation
This is Tunisian architecture, and Greece was influenced by Tunisia. For example, Sidi Bou Said has been painted white and blue for 120 years, while Santorini has only been for 60 years
Nice to see you two having fun and feeling safe. It's so cheap there this could be just the country for you? I guess when ramadan is over there will be many more food stands.
I saw this guy on tv. What an adventure! And then you going there, wow. Can't wait for the rest. Oh, me and my prejudice again: when you arrived in Tunesia and these guys where yelling TAXI my first thought was OH no they are going to be ripped of. And what did I see: just the opposite. I guess when you have lived in The Netherlands all your life like me, you're not used to people being nice. Oh well. Keep it up!
Dispite its small size, the Netherlands has 450 km of beaches along the sea.And there are many lakes with their beaches scattered throughout the interior!👌👍
Het Kurhaus in Scheveningen (that big old Grand Hotel on the beach) has a very interesting history. During WWII it was the German main headquarters, looking straight at England. Erik Hazelhoff (soldaat van Oranje) went to a black tie party there as a resistance fighter and walked into the sea during the event and swam to a waiting boat that brought him to England where he became first a pilot and second the personal assistant and trusty of Queen Wilhelmina. When she returned from exile, he stepped out of the plain with her. Although a controversial personality, he is one of Netherlands' many WWII heroes. The book about his life (and it is also a movie by Paul Verhoeven and a musical) is available in many languages.
23:23 Those boats can carry several things, such as gravel. It's what we call "binnenvaart" (inland transport). I was born very nearby by the way (my parents still live there), and also used to live in another place just around the corner over there, lovely to see you enjoying it there 😃
Indeed, and they not only travel throughout the intricate network of rivers, channels and lakes, but they also go deep into Europe Some lucky older types also sometimes have a nice second life as sailing 'clubhouse' for waterscout- and seacadet organisations...
Of course The Netherlands has a beach. Almost 50% of the border is seafront. It is not an ocean, as you refer to it but a sea. There are lakes everywhere as well because the sand they suck up, is used to higher ground for development.
The Northsea is a shallow part of the ocean. Dutch do not regarded the NS as the ocean though technically spoken, it is. Like the Adriatic is a part the mediterranian.
@@fbabarbe430 What crap. An ocean is an ocean and a sea is a sea. They are all (or at least most) connected. It's the North Sea, not an ocean. Period. What's next, all countries are 1 country because they are connected and part of something else?
@@fbabarbe430Now it's a brachsea (and you also call it a sea) where at first it was a part of the ocean. You can call a cup of coffee, tea as much as you want, but it is still coffee. And I live next to a lamp pole. Doesn't mean I know everything about it.
Delft is a beautiful town but you should visit 's-Hertogenbosch as well for a weekend or so. You should mix the tuna (drain first) with a little mayo, littel plain yogurt, some salt and pepper, small sliced onions, garlic and a little chilly. Mix it and add small cut boiled egg.
In the netherlands we also have black pudding during winter its called bakbloedworst and also bakleverworst witch you now already can buy in the supermarkerts. Slide it up in 1cm dicke pieces and bake them delicious
