hi@@qwertyuiopasdfghj001 Dietician focused on protein and calories to retain weight and muscle, but I had really bad nausea (probably worse than the final rounds of chemo) and also could not have normal sized meals. The biggest thing that was overlooked was the poor absorption of vitamins and minerals -- has led to anemia and some other deficiencies which could have been prevented by taking supplements after leaving hospital. Surgery was in May23, diagnosed Aug22 with stage two 28mm adenocarcinoma, 11 rounds of chemo (folfirinox) which led to only 1mm of the tumor being viable when analysed after removal. Still feel very fatigued - can sleep for 10 hours then wake up for 3 and go back to bed for another 10 hours. Fortunately, I have always enjoyed sleeping.
An interesting presentation for sure. I had the Whipples Procedure following a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. I declined the 6 months of chemo offered subsequently due to the trauma & how much weight I'd lost & how weak I felt post-surgery. In short, it's brutal. Here I am over 2.5 years later & doing well. I also believe the diagnosis & prognosis given IS traumatic in & of themselves. I deliberately & systematically set about to heal this trauma. I also went in search of alternative solutions. I'm aware you can't talk about these though. ;) I believe more support & consideration needs to be given to patients undergoing treatment. Let's see if I'm still here at the 5-year point. I intend to be & beyond. Wish me luck! ;)
I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer last year and it now spread to my liver. Thank goodness I don’t get sick from chemotherapy. But I would like to know what I can eat and drink to maintain my weight. I lost 54lbs and now would like to know how to maintain the weight I am now.

Focus on fat free diet try to take enzyme tablet to ease digestion take antioxidants which will prevent further progression of all that important thing is to consult a gasterenterologist they can only help with May God ease our difficulties
If weight loss and appetite isn't a big issue. Depend on patient situation. I would be careful with sugars (including fructose from fruits). Sugars feed cancer. Look it up over the net. Also caution with carbohydrates as it becomes glucose also a sugar. Also oils and fats might be hard on the system. Of course depends. I would be eating foods that help fight cancer. Its hard to say what's the right diet. Some may go vegetarian others vegan or even others go on keto diet.what

Please be careful what you see on the net. Listen to your dietitian as often they will be either oncology, HPB or UGI specialists. There is currently no clinical evidence that sugar feeds cancer and the guidelines followed in hospitals agree on that.
All your advice and comments are spot on..especially about not being reticent about taking medication when needed..I.e. for nausea and gas..and finding the proper balance of pancreatic enzymes to take

Very well done! As a naturopathic doctor with a focus in oncology, I have to heartily agree with all points that Dr Rutledge said, especially regarding complementary cancer treatments. Our big role and goal as NDs is to support the person emotionally and physically through their proven conventional options, whenever possible.
