I think I missed the bit where you explain how to ensure the toothed side of the saw is orientated into the branch, not away from it. Any tips for getting this crucial part done right?
Don’t Listen to this Idiot. As a Professional Arborist of 20yrs this is a Great Way to become Crippled for the rest of your life or Worse Dead. If you wanna learn how to Prune a Tree as a Professional to teach you how to do it safely.
The one thing I struggle with understanding is the blade. All the blades I'm seeing on Amazon are in a complete circle. - without any mechanism to open it to a single blade? What am I missing?
This method works, but its frustrating when the chain gets stuck in the branch. As you cut deeper into the branch the branch begins to pinch the chain and it can get stuck quite easily.
And just like that you totally ruined my tree climbing project! How am I supposed to justify the cost of a harness, friction saver, expensive climbing rope. and surely some tense moments hanging way up in the air wondering if I did anything wrong??? Not to mention all of the adult language caused by the struggle... 🤪
Did anyone else giggle and smile while watching this? Especially when He said you don't want to be standing underneath it😂 This is one smart video. Thank You! I never knew of this method.
Fantastic! Well, 1st that you or property were not hurt in the process & 2nd... quick job & inexpensive! Possibly, you could cut the limb in shorter sections - less weight per section & they will drop a bit differently. Well, I have smaller limbs that are closer to the ground that need trimming & i'm eager to try this in the fall. All the best to you; greeting from Virginia Beach, VA 😊
chain saw chain is more like $20 the rope is another $20 after you ger the chain stuck you'll now need a second of each i have one stuck in a tree for a few years now - cutting green limbs is MUCH more of a challenge have a phone ready to call 911 when the branch swings down onto you
Overall, good strategy. I find it easier to use an actual heaving line rather than a hammer. Then use the heaving line to pull the rope up and over the branch. Also, use bowline knots or something similar to tie the saw blade ends to the rope ends. Thye makes it super easy to untie them when you are done.
I use a hammer and an axe. I throw the axe up so that the cutting edges strikes the limb and the axe gets lodged, then i repeatedly the the hammer striking the axe to drive the axe through the limb.
