Hi i am Rich Man, As a car and motorsport enthusiast, I buy, repair, and try to sell all sorts of cars for a profit, This channel shows the challenges i come across, reviews on some of my purchases, both vehicles and equipment, the fun i come across and hopefully will entertain you and help you in your own diy repairs.
Great video 👍🏻 and very informative. I’ve always fancied a twin top but this has always worried me if this happens when the roof gets stuck . Are they reliable & do you get many problems with the roof ? Cheers Terry
Thank you for this video! I followed every step in it. However, I can't open the boot now and after I pass 35 km/h the car stars to beep. Is there any chance you could help me? Thanks a lot!
It depends on if your doing it yourself or having the work done, follow my link if your doing it yourself for part, it cost me around £200 but different brands different cost, if a garage, then labour plus vat on top
If the cable has snapped I’m not sure but under the bonnet fuse box pull fuse 14 or 15 (don’t drive with fuse removed as it dose other circuits this will alow the boot to open with the key blipper, try that otherwise I don’t know without damaging the boot
It’s not something I’ve done, I know you can swap different turbos if they fit subject to compression from exhaust but i think you would have to have it remapped, I was looking into doing it to my vw tdi but to get full power I also had to swap my injectors hopefully someone has more info for you
Really helpful video thank you. Just got mine fixed at my local garage. The sender unit cost £444 including VAT plus £240 labour. So a lot less than taking it to the main dealer
Fair play dude , doing all that and filming it , pretty pro and seamless AND ON YER BAK !! I’ve just been piping and flaring in the rain on my back also , a nite mare at 18 definitely so at 64 ,, I bet you too dream of a four poster and a garage full of every conceivable bit of kit to make the job easier! Nice one bud 😅
I had a two post lift in my workshop that I rented from Warwickshire county council, but after Covid they put my rent up by 270% if I wanted to stay in it. so I had to close, as it made it unviable, definitely easier with a lift
Thank you for the comment, Sorry i forgot to add the link to my description Link tidd.ly/3Wi9zh0 it was from Autodoc, the part number for mine was A205 470 49 00, part used in the video was METZGER 2250593 Fuel feed unit, cost me £170+vat. They show another make for £100 + vat but it was out of stock and still is today
@villeviitanen1748 thanks for the comment, if you can’t get into the boot pull fuse 14 or 15 in engine bay and replace before you drive as maybe you need to adjust part of the roof mechanism so that the sensors are reading roof closed
My roof is operating fine however when i put it back up boot doesn't close properly yet it doesn't open either. It is pinging once i go over 20mph. Would you know how to go about such an issue please?
@@roora111 beeping will probably be a sensor telling the car that the roof/boot it’s fully closed. It probably isn’t a sensor fault but the part of operation not fully completed, on the the boot where the hand opens the boot you have the boot lock on the body of the car check that the latch has fully rotated and that the micro sensor is showing that it’s closed the physical tines can be pushed with a screwdriver but be careful if the switch, the other sensors are the rams left and right for c pillar make sure they are fully up, and roof to a pillar fully locked failing that it might be a brake in the wiring loom check 1st for continuity then for shorts in insulation
@roora111 the latch rotates one way to use like a standard boot on a saloon car and rotate the other way to use as a hinge for wen the boot opens at the front to allow the roof to fold into the boot
The beeping boot not opening is because the sensors are telling the car that the roof isn’t fully closed The sensors are the roof into a pillar left right The rams (c pillar) for lifting the roof not fully up left and right Or the boot catch rear centre not fully rotated These can be done but pushing catches with screwdriver fully closed a pillar, lifting rams in c pillar hydraulics this is a bit tricky but can be done again using a screwdriver or a socket under rams while you close roof, and the boot tines can be closed in the boot lock by pushing with a screwdriver. To open boot pull a fuse in engine bay I think for memory it is f14 or f15 this will allow you to open boot but replace fuse before driving as it also dose other important circuits once all done beeping will stop, fault is most likely a broken wire in the wiring loom attached to the boot mechanism on left hand side
Old post, but id like to know how far down the helicoil goes please? My merc cdi uses stretch bolts so it probably makes a difference how far down the thread sits as the original is a much linger threead.
Helicoils come in different sizes the thread goes flush to the top, if you can put a tap down and use a large bolt then that’s a alternative but sometime this is not possible
Just lock the car with your key card, if you are at some chargers opening the door will stop it charging, so get out of the car close doors then plug in charger
Employees of the likes of Councils, NHS, etc were issued Zoe with just AC charging and recently. These cars go on the Used EV Market and people end up with something without CCS. But that actually suits many.
hey manm, greets from portugal, my gtc yesterday lost a nut on the ex manifold, i am going to try to see if thats broken or just felt off all of it, oitherwise i need to take that out... because of one bolt... so sad ahah cheers
Presumably you have an older with Zoe with type 2 only, unlike a newer Zoe with CCS. So it's not really a problem then is it. This is pure click bait mate and I hate that.
Ze50 came standard spec with type 2 only, it is not click bait Nissan leaf have now dropped the ccs option I’m only trying to inform and help those who don’t know
Hi there I know this is a old video, just a question that mechanism that stops the door from opening too far how did you reattach the torque screw. Obviously the latch won’t reach when the door is open to re fasten the torque screw but if you close the door you cannot tighten the screw up. Thanks
With the door open i pulled the the arm (of what use to be called a check strap) I pulled this out as far as i could, from memory it took some effort, then i had David push the door a bit as if he was starting to close it, so that the arm was just about touched the A pillar, then i started to insert the bolts, when they had enough threads in the end or the arm i fully opened the door (this fully opened the arm) so that i could get the bolts fully tightened
This video is deliberately misleading and spreading misconceptions. You could have summarized this video with: CCS standard has won, buy yourself a car with ccs plug and you will be fine. The industry is also considerate and does not leave folks in the dark that put their early money on the Japanese standard. They still went with Nissan’s messed up charging solution even though the writing was on the wall for the last 10 years.
How is demonstrating that the car used can’t be charged at the charging stations shown is misleading. If someone can’t afford a £20,000 plus used electric car then purchasing something like a Zoe or leaf may be there option, without informing them of the charging options then they may purchase something they regret
@@jamesbarker7145 most are but a Nissan leaf for example iit looks like they have removed the option for CCS and its now CHADdeMO only zoe has now been discontinued but in the 2022 broucher i have CCS was a option on spec im not sure if the SMART has DC charging as that is only 22kw and im sure others
I have research it that’s why it’s a 43kw charger not a 22kw but it’s just a runaround for me, and fits into my needs. if someone was buying it for there main car then the lack of charging speed and options would be a big problem same with leaf and other early gen ev’s
@@RichManPoorMotors so you have made an entire video about how you can't use certain chargers, even though you bought the car knowing in advance that you wouldn't be able to use them and that in reality that would not be an issue for you? I'm really struggling to see the point you are trying to make here
@@where_is_mark when i purchased the car the charging stations at mcDonalds, starbucks, and the Moto services were not even built, the car is charge at home and is just used for local journeys, making use of the running cost of £1.50 per 90 miles, but i have had people who haven't bought electric EV yet, ask me questions about charging, questions about range, questions about performance and a lot of those will be purchasing a used car around 7 years old. My point as was shown in the video and to inform and help those who don't know, is to check what charger you have in your car before buying otherwise you might not be able to charge easily on route, i showed that CCS is a lot more popular than CHADdeMO and if you have CHADdeMO then there are less chargers and these also might be used by someone with CCS, while there are other CCS chargers free,
Buy a car which has CCS plug. CCS chargers are everywhere and the CCS can charge DC and AC type 2. They are everywhere and every EV sold today in EU has the CCS plug as well as cables for Type 2 charging.
CHADdeMO was still the standard leaf connection ccs was a option at least in 2023 when I was looking at buying one, not everyone is able to purchase new
I have a 2nd gen leaf and a KIA EV6 and I could also have charged at any of them that you showed. Even the Tesla chargers are now beginning to open up to non Tesla motors. can you not get an adapter for the Zoe so that it works with other charger ports? I have not looked myself but I remember seeing that teslas offer an adapter so that theirs can work on non Tesla chargers. cheers J
In 2024, this is really just a zoe problem rather than a EV problem, though isn't it? Up until recently I had a leaf, it's only in the last year I've noticed Chademo numbers going down and CCS replacing them, but there's still thousands around that will likely outlast any gen 1 and 2 leaf - The type 2 only option on the Zoe was always going to limit it to home charging, even when it came out that was obvious - When 100% of new cars are ccs in europe and have been for a couple of years (and ccs > chademo adapters exist now) really the question to ask when buying an ev is "does it have ccs and if not are you 100% sure you will ONLY charge at home?".
2024 bmw 330e still type 2 although as a hybrid you would only charge at work or at home, 2024 Mercedes c300e hybrid ccs, kangoo van type 2, and a couple of others I’ve seen at charging stations but most are going ccs
How do move the parcel shelf flaps to get the boot lid to close coz black flaps are out so I can't put the boot in the rite place under the rear window
Not sure if this is just my car as it’s an ST, but the cable that you’ve miraculously pulled through on that right side I’m not able to pull through or disconnect.
If your on about the cable that I said remove the rubber grommet, look at 9:30 where it was disconnected from the lock after undoing the window regulator panel. Just remove the grommet as you would usually remove grommets by prizing the rubber around the hole
