@@garymcgregor7048 Thank you so much! Glad to have you here! Yeah they’re fantastic trains, shame they’re already on the way out. Not sure if you saw but they put out an announcement on their facebook saying about their withdrawal soon
@@garymcgregor7048 yeah, it was announced a few days ago. Personally I believe they’ll end up with something like 810s with bimode. They already have a contract with hitatchi for the 385s so it’d make sense. 68s would definitely be awesome to see!!
The cafe bar was operational when the inter7cities entered service but they closed at the start of lockdown and for whatever reason they have never been reopened. Sometimes a catering trolley is onboard but you have to get lucky there
@@gftyhify Oh thats sad, they gave a small trolley service but thats all we got. I must say their service falls well below that of LNER and I assume Avanti
I think that for long high speed rail services like this, it is worth it as for a trip as long as 8 hours, because it provides a better and more comfortable experience for a journey of that length.
@@kennethlim3382 It was originally meant to serve as the London Eurostar terminal for trains passing north towards Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle etc but since no trains ever ran north of London, its used entirely for Southeaster High Speed domestic services. Its never had its “International” name honoured. So, tldr its used for domestic services to the coast and eurostar just pass by! Hope this helps! 😁
@@arnoldspottingvideos5269 Thank you, I’m glad to hear it! 😁 AWC First Class is next on my list for British Trip Reports. Just wanted to get this one out to trial voice overs first. I don’t mind their product, but I’ve never managed to have food onboard as theres always been an issue with catering
@@ChrisMoys-yb8xk So I’ll start with the ECML. The line is 393 miles long and runs from London Kings Cross in the south, through main stations including Peterborough, Doncaster, York, Darlington, Newcastle and finally into Edinburgh Waverley in Scotland. Its the capitals line and runs at a top speed of 125mph or 200kph. Its used by 6 high speed operators which are LNER, Lumo, Transpennine Express, Cross Country, Grand Central and Hull Trains, all of which use 125mph stock. Freight and commuter use the line in the south primarily but there are some services in the north pathed for 75 and 100mph! Hope this helps :)
@@Cepia120 Thank you so much! Yeah it is a fantastic train, the gauge changing really is unique for trains I’ve done. I’ve got one coming out for the S130 very soon too
Great video! So nice to see 43's still working as they're long gone from the Bristol area where I live! One thing I can't understand is if a lot of the sets are 4 coach units, why did they keep both power cars - would one not be able to handle the coaches with a DVT on the other end? Would surely reduce maintenance costs and maybe fuel usage. Guess they don't have much longer left now, will be a shame when they're gone completely but the fact they're still around is amazing!
@@whiteloafers9658 Thank you! It is lovely yo see them around. I’m surprised they kept some as 4 car in general, a lot of the 5 coach ones I’ve seen have been rammed to the brim so 4 cars seems a little strange. I did hear that the HSTs for the same amount of seats as the Turbostar uses WAY more fuel, but I guess it would if it has 4400hp. Definitely I agree, it will be sad to see them go. I used to see them all the time running ECML services, it was brilliant. Thanks for your comment!
Jay why did scousetrainspotter 1999 stop his channel? And also one of his last posts was saying there would be a video on the future of the channel but it never came😢
@@Henrystrains543 basically, we were going to make scouse trainspotter1999 channel into the behind the scenes and trip report channel but I ended up just using this channel. That was what the video was gonna be. Also, all the videos he records now get uploaded here. You’ll have watched some videos of his and not even realised it as its a joint effort channel 😁
@@JaysTransportohhh nice i see, what ones were filmed by him and what ones were filmed by you? Also when are you thinking of going to do all of those videos in and around London?
@@stevecutts5450 Well, considering we’re building the fastest line in Europe, and the east coast is getting a speed increase in the next year or so I’d say we aren’t that bad. We don’t need 186mph trains, it’s pointless in this country. For it to really make sense you’d have to run them non stop from Edinburgh to London with no intermediate stops. Our towns are so close together. If you actually look at lines across Europe, which I’ve travelled on extensively, they go 200 miles with no stops, or with only one or two. Our azumas make usually on average 8-10, with some only making 6
Yeah! Its on the ECML too, the English Preston is on the WCML. It is easy to get them mixed up. Its like Berwick Sussex and Berwick upon Tweed, its confusing
@@yeoobabab404 its to provide electricity to all the coaches as the steam loco isnt capable of doing all of them iirc. Also, if the steam loco fails for any reason, then they have a backup as to not cause massive delays on a mainline
@@mariadelmarjimenezarroyo We’ve got a trip report in the works for EVERY high speed train in Spain, apart from the Avril. It was in testing when we filmed there. We did catch it at Sagunto though which is awesome to see
Above chathill they run on diesel as there are still power supply issues on the ecml north. There isnt enough capacity in the overheads to cater to all trains
