I do both! Really depends on the situation and the amount of laziness I have at the time too haha but tbh if it’s a photo that I really really enjoy of how it came out or maybe a photo I believe that could be better, I’ll use the raw photo and edit it!
@@pb5725 unfortunately, both are independent. there’s not really a way to lock the circular polarizer from how I used it. That’s also my own personal gripe with the filter..
If you got this chroma maglock version, then unfortunately, you can’t screw anything additional on. You would need to stay within the maglock system to stack.
Well I wouldn’t say that, it definitely does work well for video! I have the A7SIII, and the quality that comes out is superb! But if you’re in a run and gun situation like your lighting changes all the time (i.e. the sun comes out and then it’s gets cloudy and then it’s sunny again), then using the filter in my opinion gets rather difficult to use cuz you have to adjust the VND functionality many times. If you’re in a controlled environment (i.e. consistent and constant lighting) or you know it’s constantly going to be one condition all the time (i.e. always cloudy or full sunshine), I would say that the filter is pretty solid and very ideal for those situations. All in all, adjusting the VND part of the filter is a pain in my opinion lol
@@RoyceMyerLee this is my first time buying one of these and I’m still new to my camera, however I also read these need some type of magnet? I have a 1.4 F 35mm GM I would like to use this on for video mostly and some pictures at times as the sun gets overwhelming at times on the ISO. What would you recommend and thank you for replying
@@JJ.StayFit yeah, you would need the adapter plates to use the magnetic functionality on your lenses. Which you’d also have to dish out more money for..the magnetic plates in the long run is pretty convenient if you plan on getting more lenses. But that depends on your and your wallet lol Personally, I would honestly recommend in getting the regular VND from PolarPro (or honestly any company like K&F from Amazon). Thats where I started and I used it for everything. I just got the new system since I have multiple lenses now and changing it out from one to another slows my workflow. But getting the threaded one from PolarPro to put your lens is so much cheaper and honestly you could probably get it even more cheaper used. All in all, a VND would 100% solve your problem when the sun gets very overwhelming. In my opinion, a VND with a 2-5 stop is more practical from your explanation. Hope that helps!
@@RoyceMyerLee thank you so much for the info, and I apologize if I’m over asking so many questions. At this time, money isn’t so much of an issue, just trying to buy the appropriate things as I’m in south Florida it’s sunny here and 1.4fe is a pain in the sun, however I would like to purchase this new set just, wanted to know what is all I need to purchase to have it right, as I’m seeing on their website they have these threaded vs not, and not a lot of people are talking about this subject
@@JJ.StayFit well if money isn’t a problem, it’s only preference and flexibility at this point of whether you want threaded or the maglock system. At the end of the day, if you’re constantly outside like I am, personally, I don’t recommend this filter. And since money ain’t an issue, I would just get the regular VND in the maglock version so later you can use it for other lenses for the future if you buy additional base plates. Not sure how piercing the sun may be in Florida on the day to day, but if it’s always sunny, maybe the 6-9 stop would be smart to try as well.
Just starting my RU-vid journey and I can feel how challenging it is to keep up the pace but very good reminders of the core reasons of why we are doing it. Best of luck in your journey and thank you for sharing your thoughts 💪 Initially found you through your latest video on the VND/PL polar pro filter and the advices and quality of your videos are amazing 👌
appreciate the kinds words man! and likewise brother! the journey may feel long but my gosh it feels good to look back where you started from time to time!
I've tried it for a while and i dont like it takes 1 - 1.5 stop down. I just recently realized this. I am not happy with the effect. But realized it happens with all the mist effect filters and CPL filters. More you stack, more you lose. So I just use 1 mist filter (Glimmerglass1) to minimize ND effect. It shouldnt matter too much if you shoot outside most of the time. Thanks for the video!
good review man. i bought these about a week ago, i only shoot video, and used these on a shoot last weekend - and you are spot on with this review. The image quality is really good, and the cpl is actually super handy, butttttt that fin-dangling with the design is a pain. I was using a gimbal and had to put it on the ground every time I wanted to adjust the nd. That said, I’m planning to stick with this, because of the excellent image quality, and, we’ll see if that comes back to bite me 😜
Man, why do you sound so fake you said "basically what the polarpro did combining 2 filters" you should be saying basically they copy cat other brands out there & put peter name to scam others.
This is just the kind of review I was looking for, real world use in run and gun situations. I currently have the NiSi swift kit which is fine, but I was looking at this because of the combined filters. I was going to keep it on another lens so it's less filter swapping, rather than a total VND system replacement. But since I do mostly run and gun, based on your advice I'm going to hold off on this product. Perhaps wait for a second edition. Thanks for this video! Oh one other thing I want to mention, on my NiSi I can dial the ND to 1 which is useful because I use that for when I take photos, so I don't have to remove the filter when I switch between photo and video. They seem to be the only VND that does this. It's what keeps me from switching to any other filter system.
Ayy thanks for watching! Glad I could help! And that filter sounds solid! Might need to get me one of those to try out! Appreciate the recommendation 🤘🏻
How does this look shooting car interior displays? I generally get such awful rainbow effects whenever a PL is on my camera shooting interiors, I noticed rainbow effect in the headlights, how about digital screens?
So I just tested the filter on my car interior display just now. Fortunately, I don’t get that rainbow effect on my car interior display. Unfortunately though, my interior display is on the older side (10 years old) which isn’t like the touch screens available in newer model cars which have much brighter and cleaner screens. So I’m not sure how it holds up with those types of displays in newer model cars. However, I also just tested it on my computer desktop monitors (gaming monitor and a color accurate monitor) and it displays pretty well without any rainbow effect! But to test it a bit further, I tested the filter on a MacBook Air Retina display with a white background, and even though it doesn’t display that rainbow effect, it’s goes from this blue color to an orange shade. Not sure why that happens to be honest but I thought this might additional test might semi-emulate what the newer model cars have.. Hope all my additional tests help answer your question!
Looks like an awesome filter, thumbs up for the review! The flaw you mentioned is the only thing that puts me off from the 2 in 1 VND/CPL and why i decided to go with nisi swift as it can be easily stacked and removed, i assume for video centric users, a CPL would be more a specific shot as opposed to wanting the CPL on all the time then having to adjust both.
Appreciate it! And great suggestion! I’ll see if I can do some more tests to see more differences 👍🏻

@@RoyceMyerLee Then let me make another suggestion 🤠 You can check if combining a polarizing effect with an ND filter creates an X pattern and vignetting when shooting the sky at a wide angle like 16mm.
This review of the VND/PL filter was informative. The variable ND being linked to the CP is a bit cumbersome for video work. Is there a way to adjust them independently, or is manual adjustment the only option?
Glad it was helpful! And yeah! Unfortunately, unless you put it on a tripod to control both independently, you’ll definitely have to manually adjust each one at a time.
Hey Royce, cool video on the new filter! The VND/PL combo sounds super handy. Ugh, too bad my car was such a mess that weekend, it would have been perfect for some sweet b-roll with that filter Thinking about getting this for some upcoming hikes though, thanks for the review! Have you tried using any other VND/PL filters? Curious how this one compares.
Great points about the Insta360 camera! The invisible stick feature is definitely a game-changer for creating immersive videos. I also love the versatility of the camera for different activities.
The quality for the amount of subs you have is insane bro. keep it up, consistency is key! This vid showed up in my home page so you're definitely getting there. Keep it up bro!
Overall, not too many crazy differences in my personal opinion between the x3 and x4. There are many upgrades for sure like the resolution is significantly higher (8k videos), slow mo is better, longer battery life, and other smaller improvements as well (gesture mode, faster processor, etc.). However, one thing I wish I had on the x3 that the x4 has now is the removable lens protector. That would so convenient! And I think the market for that would interesting for people like me that want to use filters on their cameras too. Personally, I went with the x3 since these upgrade differences didn’t seem to entice me enough for the big price difference. I think the x3 is still my choice despite the new upgrades because the value in price doesn’t make me want to get the x4. If you’re like me who just wanted to try a 360 camera and get used to the camera and whatnot, the x3 is a solid camera to get! But if money isn’t a problem, the x4 is great!
I own the Insta360 X4, DJI Pocket 3, and a Sony A7R5. Out of all my cameras, the Insta360 gets the most use because I can capture freely and reframe later. Basically you never miss a shot because it captures everything going on around you.
Just found this guy's channel and already watched 3 videos. It is very early morning here in Belgium, and when he pulled out the "raincoat for his cameras," I busted out laughing. And of course my neighbours will be wondering what is going on with me, because I am not loud, nor do they even hear anything from my apartment. Mate, a raincoat for your camera? My goodness!
I really need to look into those PolarPro filters. I already have their Slate II CFexpress type Card rugged cases. Yes, l bought 2. And yes, I love those things. I also want to pickup their front lens covers. Those magnetic filters, are calling to me. I might just combine my next purchase, and be fine with it. PolarPro do make some very helpful accessories.
Who knew you could create such professional-looking product photos at home? Love the tip about using everyday household items - definitely going to try that next time I need some product shots. Thanks for sharing your genius!
Wow, this is a great review of the Pelican Air 1535 camera carry-on case! I love how you showed all of the gear you were able to fit in the case. This is really helpful for me as I'm looking for a new camera case myself. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome video dude! Looks like you finally found the perfect case to wrangle all that camera gear you have into one carry-on. No more back-breaking backpacks for you! Seriously though, super helpful review. Now I know exactly what to get for all my future adventures. Thanks for sharing!
very nice, i am just ready to get this lens for my a7cii, so whats your recommendation now, should i go to get it with eyes close , i want it for video mainly.
After using the lens even longer, I still really love it for both video and photos. Expensive for sure but having all the functions and customizable buttons really makes shooting videos and photos so much faster and sometimes much easier. Definitely worth getting for your arsenal!
The inside of the hand pockets are half lined! From the perspective of wearing the jacket, the back of your hand is touching the flannel-lining but your palms of hands are touching the material of the jacket itself. Hope that helps!
Bro, Thanks to your video I cop one for me and one for my wife. Also, I put your name down on Nomadic website on how I heard about it. Hopefully, they give you some sort of discount lol.
