I started using this knot in the spring and it works well for my braid to fluorocarbon leader connection. However I fold the fluorocarbon and wrap the braid around (opposite of video) and it works much better since the floro likes to slip out the other way around. Works great going through the guides
I notice that is easier with bigger mono line i was using some 8lb and 4lb and was struggling to doit. Switch it to like a 20lb and it work better. Or maybe i just needed more practice.
WTF AM I DOING WRONG?!?!?!?! I keep on trying this fucking knot OVER AND OVER AND THE FLOURO KEEPS SLIPPING THE FUCK OUT!!!!!! FUCKING HELLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a regular Yucatán knot, there’s nothing different about it. I’ve tied about a hundred of these knots and the leader tag end pulls through the knot every time. Back to an Alberto knot for me.
haha i know what you mean guys...this one is all we need...no talk show...youtube addict they like watching themself on screen..thank you for this video
Very nice job. But you inverted the direction of the line on the eye of the hook. The way you did it, the tip of the hook will move away from fish mouth, and you are more likely to loose it.
What is the reason for the half hitches in the middle ? Why not just do the last part of the knot and put like 8 or 10 wraps into that to lock it back into itself ? Or am I missing something ?
Tied several leaders with fluro and braid this afternoon to use tomorrow. I had short fluro leaders and extended them with braid using this knot. It's great. I have a habit of wetting my knots before tightening them down and I found it helped this knot slide and secure better for me.
Is this knot some kind of prank or magic trick? I’ve tried to tie it dozens of times and every single time the leader just slips out when I go to cinch the knot down. I got it right the first time and never once since then. What am I doing wrong?
I did the same float, though I left a longer tube for less tangles. I use it for trout fishing, the ball itself is heavier than the commercial ones so longer casts with UL gear. Well done!
Ngl, but this improved version of Albright knot is arguably the best knot to learn due to its comprehensiveness, reliability, and strength, which is highly recommended for beginners or even for regular usage. Been using Alberto knot before and lost a lot of lures and fishes, since it tends to slip easily, and then switched to Double Uni knot which is more reliable than the former, although it gets tangled more easily and somewhat reduces my casting distance due to the friction caused by the thicker lead line. Then I decided to re-visit Albright knot, found this video of the improved version, and decided to test it not long after, which somehow improved the casting distance and somewhat it is easier to tie even in high winds condition... Plus ngl, although it is perhaps not as strong as the GT/FG knot, but this knot is still highly recommended for sea fishing because the lead line for it tends to be dummy thick, and this knot could compensate for it without compromising the casting distance, since the Double Uni knot would create a connection that's too thick to go through the tip ring, affecting the casting distance.
