The USA (and maybe even the world) is more than likely entering a recession and lets say you believed it to. Some people say grains usually go down during a recession.However, even if they usually do go down in a recession and its confirmed the usa is entering a recession would that at least make you a little hesitant from entering the grain market on the long side or would it have absolutely no effect on you
Yeah, I anticipate a signifianct sell-off in the market will trigger a sell-off in grains if they continue in a downtrend. But I need confirmation of that first. My idea of a rally in grains could be wrong; but until we make lower lows....

So in futures it seems to me its 99.9 percent about interpreting price charts. You dont use fundamentals or seasonal charts. The price charts(technical s) try to predict which direction the market is moving. So i guess to be the most successful futures trader its all about using and understanding price charts to try to predict where the market is heading. (of course i talking about traders) Ps. When you make a trade do you always now exactly where you will exit if the trade goes against you? I guess the key is limit losses and let profits run?
I treat futures, stocks, bonds, forex, and crypto similarly. That is my approach. Fundamentalists have a different approach. I fall into the camp that Only Price Pays, as Brian Shannon coined. If commodities or stocks were priced according to news opinions, I would likely use that for my analysis. I feel applying technical analysis to understand price trends and patterns has more utility than fundamentals. Yes, I always plan an exit if I am wrong on the trade. If I stick with my plan and honor my initial stop, I will be successful. When I don't, well........... Let your profits run and cut your losers short.

Lets say you bought the s and p or dow because of the charts, knowing you are buying at a top does that put a fear into you? The old adage buy low and sell high.
I would not buy the SPX or DOW based on these ratio charts. Each asset must be assessed on their own and then against alternatives for asset allocation. IMO
