Sharing videos I have made of the Langley Ukulele Association's Intermediate A, Senior B and Senior A Ensembles during my daughters time with the group(s). Be sure to look up and visit LangleyUkes.com for more information on this world renowned association and what they do.
I want to know if you give free online uke lessons so others around the world can play as great as your players. And learn to play songs without dependence on seeing music?
What happened to Peter Luongo? Is this his son? He has that flair, too. This group started as a district wide school project. Every kid in the Langley school district was given a uke. Starting in first grade they learned to master the instrument, including composition, singing with harmony, jazz improvisation. We were lucky enough to see them at the uke festival probably 2005 or so. There were some folks who had graduated and still played with them. Peter was funny and the whole experience was phenomenal. It looks like they are still going. They played some Hawaiian songs, too and except for pronunciation they were spot on. Oakland '21
Thank you for your comments. Peter is still involved with the LUA but it is his son Paul now at the helm of the top ensemble. Its always nice to hear from someone who saw the group in the past and (hopefully) left with an impression of what these kids can do.
Thank you for the virtual concert. At White Rock Senior Village. We loved listening to talented young People. Please let us know when we can hear you another time..
Thank you for the kind words. I know personally that all the kids really miss performing live for seniors. Easiest to hear more from the Langley Ukulele Ensemble by subscribing to this channel and the official "langleyukes" channel to be notified when new videos come out.
how wonderful is this? wow. I have lived in Hawai'i all of my life, and this video made me cry with so much pride.... Congratulations to you. Bravo/brava and mahalo.
A friend of mine sent me here and I am so glad she did. First time listening to a Ukulele "classical concert". I love Vivaldi. This was (is!) fantastic.
24 Ukuleles. NOT playing!1 bass player playing. One conductor, who is the ONLY ONE playing with his back to a audience, is simply grandstanding. While, all the other musicians in the group, are either sitting or standing and simply singing. They are all excellent musicians, what a disappointment to watch.
Perhaps you have a point but the group prides itself in their singing abilities as well and not just Ukulele playing. Some songs involve more uke playing than others and the directors do lead the groups with both playing to keep the tempo and some singing to keep the group on harmony. Some arrangements change over time depending on the level of skill of the ensemble. The ensembles change year over year with new kids coming up through the ranks as others graduate out but they always put on a good show and impress beyond their age whether it be uke playing or harmonizing.
