Regional At Best (RAB) and Self Titled albums are raw and deep. Not saying the others aren’t, but the lyrics and vocals in both of these albums cut deeper. Definitely reflections of a different season of his life. ❤

Tyler definitely found his faith hard as a teen/young man and was at risk of 'falling away' hence his warning to 'be concerned'. From his songs he seemed overwhelmed by feelings of guilt and feeling that he was not worthy of God's love as he was too broken. Tyler's lyrics are still very personal - you will hear themes of feeling unworthy of his faith in the latest music too though he uses more metaphor now and it's more hidden in with other layers of meaning. With maturity he has become gentler on himself thankfully.
I dare you to buy the book by Arthur Miller titled All My Sons. This is the basis for the name of the band Twenty One Pilots and the whole context of this wonderful band; to do what is right even when it feels too hard to do the right things. In fact, maybe you should read the book which is actually a screenplay and afterwards, make a RU-vid video on your reactions to said book screenplay?? I dare you!!

His dad died in janurary, thats why he says he misses his dad in the song alot of the aongs are about his parents. He grew up in a small town called peirce city missouri
Oooh Leave the City! My favorite song! So, Dema is supposed to represent mental illness, grief, loneliness, physical pain, basically any negative feeling/emotion. Trench (the place not album) is meant to represents the realization that you aren’t where you are meant to be, or to be more exact it is the first few steps you take in healing from mental illness. This is why Trench is referred as the "place between two places," the place between Dema and basically the healed version of yourself. In Tyler's words: "This record [Trench] is about pushing through and starting that, starting that journey between those two places… I knew this record was about getting up and starting that, and I’m not going to find that thing on this record yet. And that’s what this song Leave the City does, it gets you there, and then it doesn’t." So to put it simply, Leave the City is about coming to terms with the fact that battling a mental health problem takes time and that the path to addressing it is not always straightforward. But at the same time, it's promising yourself that you will find your way in the end.
I have a great artist/band to recommend. Half Alive. They have great music with a similar feel to Twenty One Pilots. If you do listen to them, I'd recommend the song Still Feel. Their music videos are really cool too.
I interpreted the city as Dema, and he's staying alive until he can escape Dema and/or be saved by the banditos. "They" could be a lot of things. From a more depressing perspective, it could be the Bishops, and they know he'll break soon and join the Glorious Gone. The more hopeful perspective, and the one I like, is that "they" are the banditos (and/or us), who know Tyler's suffering will be over soon when they come to free him from Dema. It also could be two entirely different "they"s in the song, and is a mixture of perspectives.
“They” is us, the clique. The last note he plays on the piano it the 1st piano note to the song Truce. Also, we, the clique, r stuck in Dema as well if u really think about how we all relate to his music so much & deal w/ mental illness. |-/ Also the definition of a trench is a hole dug to hide yourself from the enemy & we r battling our own “Blurryfaces” if u will
This song can be looked at in a few ways. Outside the lore, to leave the city can be a euphemism for dying, and he's saying that he will stay alive as long as he can. From a lore point of view, and the standard interpretation of the song, to leave the city is to leave Dema and emerge from your depressive episode; at this point, he is trapped in Dema and is holding on to the hope of being able to escape one day, and as a result is staying alive with that hope. The "they know that it's almost over" has a few interpretations. Many people I've seen explain it as the bishops knowing that Tyler will become a glorious gone soon. I prefer to interpret it as the banditos, since the phrase "they know" is used at the end of the song to refer to them ("these faces facing me/ they know what I mean"). The banditos understand what Tyler is going through and know that he is only barely holding on to life. Their support is one of the things that helps him keep going.
