@SCOTTGunsallus you’re not wrong, i dont have much bass fishing experience. It was my first time using 6lb test for bass so I wasn’t sure how much pressure I could put on the fish, but after having used 4lb I know now that I could have got them in a lot sooner. Thanks for watching
The rod I’m using in this video is the 12 ft FishUSA Flagship rod, I love it for the centerpin. I’ve caught 15-20lb lake trout on it so it definitely has enough backbone for big fish, but catching smaller trout is still fun on it too. Thanks for watching!
@@SouthMendyeah just recently got my first centerpin (witch is the same as what you got) so I’m looking for something specifically for trout cause I already got a heap of salmon setups and want something mainly for trout but can handle the odd steelhead or coho if needed just don’t know what weight of rod to get 😅
@Contollerpg3d4Fun that’s what’s up, centerpinning is a lot of fun. If you’re mainly going to be fishing for small inland trout then you can go ultralight or light action for sure. If you want something that could handle steelhead and coho too, the lightest I would go is medium light, although that might make fighting smaller inland trout not as fun. Catching steelhead on light/ultra light action rods is not unheard of, but you end up fighting the fish for so long you might kill it. Hope this helps brotha. Tight lines!

@@annie-zheng Yes! For my marabou jig fly, I learned how to tie it from Bill & Mikes Angling Adventures, who is also in the WNY area. I have also been tying a lot of nymphs for euro nymphing for trout recently, and I have been loving OldDominionTroutBum videos, as well as MainelyFlies. OldDominionTroutBum is a great resource to learn how to euro nymph/tight line, and I also watch some George Daniels videos as well.
Depends on what type of fish you’re going for! If you’re fishing for inland trout, anywhere from 3wt-5wt is good. If you are fishing for steelhead, then I’d recommend the 6wt-8wt.
@@SouthMend I think realistically I'm going to be fishing waters with more trout than anything else but i wanted to be able to handle the occasional bass and maybe even a steelhead. I do plan on getting a nicer rod down the line so I'll have one lighter and one stronger in the future. Thanks man!
@faz4983 Gotcha, I currently use a 6wt rod for both steelhead and smallmouth bass so it’ll definitely work for both of those. If you are going to be catching inland trout most of the time then I’d recommend a 3wt just because they’re generally smaller and you won’t need as heavy a rod to fight them (plus fighting fish on a lighter wt rod is more fun!). But a 5wt is generally seen as an all around good rod that you can catch all 3 species of those on (maybe not huge huge bass or steelhead), and a 5wt will be better at casting bigger flies than the 3wt if you’re into using streamers as opposed to smaller nymph like flies. If you have to choose between only a 5wt or 6wt, I’d go 5wt if you’re mostly catching inland trout, and I’d go 6wt if you’re mostly catching bass/steelhead. Let me know if you have any other questions! There’s a lot of things to consider when choosing a rod and I am by no means an expert lol.
