People who played this in English might not know how much in luck they are: This part was simply cut out in other languages since it was too difficult to translate. Lucas Arts had several tricky puzzles that became difficult by speaking a different language (even British English!). An example for that is Monkey Island 2 when you need to use a monkey as a monkey wrench. That is an exclusive American English word. And no internet to search for the solution 😅
I'm American, and the fact that that that monkey was a monkey wrench never occurred to me. I just thought, "I've hypnotized the monkey into total paralysis. (Later) There's this thing I clearly need to interact with, but it won't budge. Welp, Monkey Island games are goofy enough that a paralyzed monkey may just be what I need." I feel kinda silly for not even thinking of that.
@@templar_1138 Absolutely fair! Until I heard that, I did not know that there are wording joke riddles like this either. Like you said: You just do...something to get it solved. Using a hypnotized monkey is just one option. I mean: At some point you just combine everything with anything. Not sure if many people solved the riddle based on the term "monkey wrench".
@@zakkvanish3668In the first Monkey Island game, Guybrush can fall off a cliff and the game presents a classic adventure game "You fucked up" window, only to have Guybrush come back up unharmed and just say, "Rubber tree." He could've done the same thing with the monkey wrench in 2.
"You say you're nasty pirates, scheming thieving bad bushwackers; from what I've seen I tell you you're not pirates you're just slackers" Guybrush has some excellent flow here.
"Surely we'll all avoid Scurvy if we all eat an orange!" "But unless we're in a nasty scuttle, that wheel needs a turnin!" "Son of a-" "A PIRATE I WAS MENT TO BE! TRIM THE SAILS AND ROAM THE SEA!"
Murray: "And the forces of darkness will applaud me as I stride through the gates of Hell, carrying your head on a pike!" Guybrush: "Stride?" Murray: "... Alright then, roll! ROLL through the gates of Hell! Must you take the fun out of everything?!"
ARRRRRRRGH MATEYS, the time be upon us once more, for sure it be PIRATE DAY! And so I came to search out this song, which be the best piratin' song ever.
Escape and Tales did a decent job translating this style to 3D IMHO, and the special editions of the first 2 games were also in a style similar to this game.
The pirates had great tales! Guybrush was a not a hack Murray's laughs filled our sails Let's bring these gents all back! A pirate I was meant to be, trim the sails and roam the sea!
I hope when the Monkey Island/Sea of Thieves crossover comes out in two weeks, you can unlock this song as a shanty, like A Pirate's Life for Me with the PotC crossover.
it such a shame the song was cut in non-english versions i know as a kid playing the spanish version i wouldve lost my mind, Monkey Island was always extremely funny to me
