The light the brighter the better because there are those sensors that are light sensitive. When your finger is on to it it cast a shadow on it and it detects your finger 💁🏼♂️✨ but i have a different problem with the unlocking.
I haven’t looked at this video for years but see lots of people wondered what happened in the end. Miele kindly came and replaced the internal electronics under warranty and the problem went away. I gather from the new owner that the problem has returned about ten years after the hob was first purchased.

The best part though, every bit of it is so easy to clean. I absolutely love not having any knobs to remove, everything just wipes away in a minute. The cook top is great too and very adjustable. I like how each burner tells you if it's hot. The inside is roomy and also so easy to clean. I would choose this oven again if I had a do over.
I had this same issue with my Miele KM 6115 ceramic hob. After following the advice in the comments for increasing the sensor reaction speed the issue, although not perfect, is much improved. What a crock of shit these are stopping at a cottage in Norfolk,they have one of these idiotic pieces of junk followed to the word and hob does not come on...Utter junk.

i have a miele km 544 induction hob. it has been in use for only three months after being installed some 8 years ago. now i cannot use it anymore the error message F E comes on on the left and te right hand side. the counter on the middle temp hob keeps counting from 20-30 to start off at 20 again. i wonder how a premium brand like miele can survive! any suggestions other then buying a cheap ikea hob?
I have a Miele KM 544 induction hob. Whenever I attempt to use two hobs at the same time, they both are turned off and the letters F and E ( on the the temperature hob) and the number 10 (on the timer panel) appear and I cannot use the appliance after that
just bought & returned a miele m6012 microwave oven,i have never come across a microwave of such appalling quality at such a extortionate price,it must be made for miele by a hong kong company or something.
From the manual: Make sure that there is no direct light (from the sun or from an artificial source) falling onto the hob and that the surrounding area is not too dark. worked for me
Yes, also make sure that the moon is in the house of saturn and you are wearing sandals with handknitted socks. Seriously man, we are not talking about a tablet here, this is a HOB. And there are two places where a hob in a modern kitchen most likely will end up: Next to a window and under an artificial light source. If Miele was dumb enough to design the hob so that you have to avoid both in order to get it working properly, than Miele certainly deserves the flack this video puts on them.
I am having problems with a Miele Induction Hob turning on - the message that flashes up is E 6 and would like to know if anyone else has the same problem. I also have a Miele steam oven fitted directly under the induction hob in which we had to pull out of the cabinetry to get to the electrical plug that services the induction hob and to my amazement the underneath steel plate of the steam oven had a lot of rust. Why was I so amazed - Well when I purchased all my 3 ovens - (Steam and combination/microwave and also top of the range oven). - I expected a better than average product as Miele is far from cheap - I am a full user MIELE kitchen and laundry products. But no more will I purchase MIELE. There are other better products on the market and half the price. Also their after service for any advice is useless - you ring their service number and could wait up to 30 minutes before anyone answers the phone. Not good enough MIELE.
We have this exact hob and our problem is similar but worse. It's a new house to us and 2010 hob out of warranty - along with the other miele stuff the solution that I think is best is replacement with less expansive and better equipment. We have had similar experience with other "high end" kitchen stuff - buy Bosch.
Did you ever get this resolved? We have a combi oven/microwave that has touch control problems, but nowhere near as bad as this. Control module replaced under warranty. Still faulty and now they are implying we should live with it.
Are experiencing the same issue with the same model and have some indication for a possible solution: 1. Ensure that the cooktop is programmed for the fastest response time. 2. Turn off and completely disconnect from electricity (use circuit breaker if necessary). 3. Turn off all lights in the vicinity of the cooktop. 4. Reconnect cooktop to electricity. 5. Turn on and test. 6. Turn lights back on and test again. If this works, it will work until the cooktop goes through a power cycle again.
Had similar problem on different model. Turns out that holding your finger in a mostly horizontal position could be the problem. Like I see that you're doing in the video. Try coming straight down from above the controller with just one finger, as vertically as possible and see if that helps... You don't have to peck and release quickly just make sure only the tip of your finger touches and the rest of your hand if far away from the surface.
We have same problem. Make sure button response time is set to quickest (in manual). If it us really bad on a certain day use the back of a teaspoon on the control seems to work. Not a great outcome for an expensive hob !
The probability is a component failure on the control panel such as a capacitor or more likely the hob controls is not programmed for the hob, production error in the factrory.
My mom bought this carriage as a gift for us this week. It is July 20th 2011 and I'm watching your video in shock. I have the exact same problem. I don't want to tell my mom cus she spent so much money for this. THERE IS INDEED A PROBLEM WITH THAT WHEEL. WHAT DO WE DO ABOUT IT???????
