It was fun watching you play Strive while it lasted. Glad you gave it a shot, but if you're not having fun, you're not having fun. I still like it just cuz it's my favorite version of Potemkin (Giganter being actually useful is nice), but I cannot deny that previous versions of Slayer have more sauce.
im honestly still impressed by how good xrd is, visually and also in all the little attention to details, i wish they remastered the game to update some of the older animations to be on par with the later additions but as it stands xrd is still a very special game it has a perfect balance between fun, accessibility and depth i think
Thoughts on the new Chipp special? (Im genuinely surprised they made something outside of the box for Chipp considering hes had nearly everything already)
On pc i rarely have to host my own lobby. There's almost always people hosting in the us. And rollback is good enough to join eu and South America lobbies for me with my Internet. Plus you can always join the xrd or my discord and hit people up. It's worth it
He's always been a comical proportions character to be fair. Pilebunker always stretched his arm out and undertow in xrd made him have huge claws like strive 2s
@@LucidButtonMasher last time i played, been a while, you can punish from behind after she fires. i play against my brother and she's a pocket pick of his.
going off from what ive experienced with both games (~10ish hours on both +R and strive, nothing big), strive just feels waaaaaay more cramped as opposed to +R's fluid movement
I feel Strive focused on the current generation with Street fighter approach with Nrs level Gatling and wall-break pretty much traditional fighting game that what I am getting most of the time.
ok i've played a fine amount of strive (literally my only fighting game unless you count like 30 minutes worth of ps4 share umvc3) and i've never played xrd but from what i've seen xrd and +r clips are usually always something new happening that i've never seen before in any other clip, and in strive clips i feel like i'm watching the same thing i've seen countless times before, which makes me really curious about what it's like to play those other games in the series. i own xrd and haven't played any of it, but from what i've heard it's a discord fighter, which is probably going to be a very painful experience lmao
If you have it on pc, it is not a discord fighter and is my favorite fighting game of all time. Feel free to join my discord for more personal games, but you can always hop in the player made lobbies to find people. Look for the blue symbols next to names since they are newer to the game. Enjoy bud, it's a great ride
You've also perfectly described what i feel about strive and never knew how to put it into words. It really is the same stuff. Not enough variety in interactions and combos. I think the air tech out situation compared to juggling them really is the culprit
(Did my previous comment get deleted? I despise RU-vid.) You should try the old games out. People fell in love with them for a reason. Xrd and +R both have fairly healthy populations given their age. +R reliably has at least a handful of people playing at any time of day, many of whom don't have 30,000+ games played. Of course it's busier during evenings and weekends. Xrd has a significantly worse online experience but there are still player lobbies in the evenings, and the Rev2 Matchmaking Hub Discord is a good way to find opponents around your skill level who actually care about the game.
@@LucidButtonMasher I dunno how you fix it necessarily. I prefer Strive’s idea of combos because they feel less like I’m memorizing paragraphs of combos and I can just kinda do stuff and it works. Like my least favorite thing in Strive is memorizing like 3 different charged dust combos for different characters, and Xrd has a lot of character specific stuff. Maybe that’s also part of it like oops you did c.S there but this is the combo you do on semi-medium weight and you have to 5K instead of c.S on hit number 15. At the same time, yeah Strive just feels like I’m doing the same things all the time. There’s gotta be a middle ground somewhere I think?
i was pretty devastated to find out he's omega braindead in this game so i dont play him but im glad people are having fun with him even tho i despise fighting him
@@LucidButtonMasher in the other games you at least needed to be a conscious entity but in this game you could be a single celled organism and win with him so dont discredit yourself too much
see a lot of flag against strive. I wanted to play strive because of the beginner friendliness the as I am stuck with Plus R (which some call it a good thing) but as I played more online matches kinda lost interest since many players I played with in the +R discord are practically veterans and feel like can’t really compete. Or I am just not Dandy enough
It all takes time. There are plenty of people who are new you can practice with, asking for new players in my or that discord does help. Either way, being good always takes time
Alternatively, you are your own person allowed to have your own opinion. You can like something that someone else dislikes and it won't make you a sheep or trash or whatever else they'd like to say. Maybe that's a pansy take, but I just think it's better to do stuff that you enjoy and to enjoy talking about it, rather than to keep doing something you don't like and complaining about it. All this to say, give Strive a try. Like myself, you might actually end up liking it more than the older games, but thats just my opinion
So, I found hidden tech with may in ACPR during one of my match. Which I call 6p charge cancel which allows her to cancel into specials, command grab and super even jackhound. Help her to play mind-game. Break game rule. Now, may has her own mist-finer.
That sounds interesting I will definitely try to do Yamada san, jackhound or other special with charge 6H. Since, I am aware charge 6H only cancels into command grab.
@@LucidButtonMasher At least you tried. Many Xrd players criticise Strive without playing it. It's a personal choice to refuse playing a game, but blaming it without playing it is just disrespectful.
respectfully, it feels like "when my game is jank its funny and cool, but when strive is jank its bad and cringe" great video either way (also i-no's super is invulnerable throughout the move but not on start up)
Yeah it definitely is that. I have a bias i can't get over since i genuinely don't enjoy strive as a whole. That may be unfair due to how i complain about it. I just enjoy what i enjoy
@@LucidButtonMasherBut like genuinely though, why do you keep playing it? If you actually aren't having a good time, do you actually derive more pleasure from being negative than being positive? Nobody's stopping you from doing the things that you enjoy doing more
@@anotherpersonfromnorfolk1587 He came back to it cuz his favourite character got released for it. Had fun with the character, but found out it still wasn't enough to get him to like the game.
the strive slayer change i can't get over is the mappa hitbox actually reaching his hand now. i feel like it was not meant to trade with any faust far slash but now it does, thankfully good old 2h works
I think that he would still only have 1 jump but the ability to jump cancel his command dash special to add momentum to his jump and a super jump to get some serious height. Also maybe allow him to create frame traps and cut through projectiles by charging his Slash and Heavy Slash (Sword) attacks. Edit: Also give charged sword attacks higher counter hit properties than they usually would be just for the hell of it.
@@LucidButtonMasherisn't that Hos? (Also Robo already cool >:[) I think Nagoriyuki actually kinda fits pretty well with the old gear character gimmicks, like Sin's hunger and whatnot. Just ya know, different gattling stuff, and most likely affect his kit to be even more bs :]
