First off, great video as usual. I also have a 2006 Land Cruiser, so I usually check here before I start a job to see if there are any tips to glean. Regarding the diagnostic mode, I am under the impression that procedure may no longer be used for accurate temperature range when filling the late model Land Cruiser transmissions ('04 - '07). I believe you use the online or downloaded service manuals (based on previous video) which stated the correct interval of 97 - 115 F, but the original range in the printed service manuals state checking at a range between 115 - 130 F. The lower temperature was the result of a TSB (T-SB-0129-08 July 9 2008 Toyota change recommendation to between 97 F to 115 F) issued against several models and years of vehicles. The point is that the diagnostic mode built into the ECM is still using the 115 - 130 F range. As you demonstrated, the light will come on at 115 F and if it exceeds 130 F, it will begin blinking. I ended up just using my Scan Gauge II to read the realtime transmission temperature, but it could also be read in TIS. The higher temperature could result in lower than the currently recommended level of ATF. You're amazing these videos are awesome! Just got a 2000 lx470 this year and once it goes in for a lift ill be doing all the fluids in the driveline. Definitely subbed!
Almost always on PartSouq.com. They ship from the UAE and it’s still cheaper than buying domestic. Only exception is for very heavy parts - but things like seals, trim pieces, etc. they’re my go-to.
Hi, thanks for the video. Any long-term experience? Is the leak now fixed even though the weather strips were added without any glue or sealant? Best regards, Jan
I’ve been through many significant downpours now both at freeway speed and stationary - no leaks whatsoever. I was skeptical of the manual not calling for sealant, but seems to not be an issue.
Thank you for your great vids! Did you consider replacing the horiztonal felt piece at the bottom of window opening? And do you think this helped more than replacing the window motor?
What brand of fuel pump did you use? I just went to replace mine and I have the same pump and assembly as yours but my new pump was longer and skinnier and the connections were different. Can you send me the link or part number to the pump you used in this video please?
Thanks for the video! I've just bought my first 100, and for the life of me can't figure out what are these small plastic covers on the bottom of the seats are for. When you fold the seats fully - there are two covers on the double seat and one cover on the single one. They cover slits. What do they do?
I just did this on my LX, at least on the passenger side. And to note i didn’t have the connector to disconnect in the upper right corner. My seals were so dried out it was more like plastic than it was rubber lol. 3.5hrs of cleaning sand install. I’ll do the driver’s side next I’m too old to tackle both sides in one day
From what I read is better to do the fast one , since there tiny particles from the clutches wear and tear that helps it stick better so by leaving some of the original fluid/clutches particles Read this somewhere in ih8mud
All of your videos are gold! I had two 100 series years ago, and regretfully stepped away from them due to dealer high maintenance costs. Your videos are helping me step back in to the community, and am currently searching for a ‘98-‘00 LC! You pretty much know you had the right vehicle for you, when sellers regret lingers for every single day that they are gone. The Subaru, that sits in one of their spots gets the job done, but no big smiles like the LCs.
Once again - thank you! Not that I'll ever do this work myself, I simply don't have the tools, experience, or patience to work on car engines. Not enough room. I'm a boat person. However - you have provided me with a real-world insight into what's involved when I ask these jobs to be done on my LC and what Toyota will charge me for. Thank you! :)
How you doing... Just wandering what are the sizes of the inlet and outlet oil coolant hosses that connect to the bottom of the radiator, cause mine doesn't look like the right size . I have a 2006 LC can't get the hosses all the way in to the connector they are kind of small diametter hose .. Thanks
I think it’s likely, but you should find an FSM online for your model year to be sure. If you have trouble finding one, you can do a 24hr subscription through Toyota’s tech service bulletin for ~$20 and get the entire manual. Would recommend it if you’re planning on keeping the LX long term.
Great video thanks! Any info about which edge of the seal faces the body would be helpful. Looks like it could be installed either way. Seal on my 04 is not original and may have been installed wrong. Thanks
