The loveable cuddly old balding guy with glasses, white beard, bow tie and tweed jacket watching the surveillance footage just happens to be one of the baddest motherfuckers to have ever graced our television screens: Edward Woodward. He played David Callan in Callan and Robert McCall in The Equalizer, before Denzel Washington made the film version and sequels.
The scene with the spray kids is foreshadowing for all the murderers wearing matching hoods and for Angel asking them to spray over cameras. Since no music and other sound cues are being used to portray the deleted scenes, it might be harder to imagine them fitting in
why the fuck did they actually delete these scenes... cause of some bullshit 'time limit' in theatre.... its only 6 and a half minutes mate. These scenes add a least some level of complexity to almost all characters...
I would've liked it if this plotline was left in so that Nicolas could've saved him during the fight with Skinner instead of that Aarons kid. It's a great joke but it doesn't serve any purpose
5:07 that's Angel's predecessor as sergeant at the village, who went missing! You hear inspector talking about him when Angel arrives ("big mushy beard!"), and towards the end of the movie we see his corpse in the catacombs. Oh, the level of details!
That kid's career was one the verge of shooting upwards around this time in 2006 but by the time this film was released it foundered. £2m four-album deal with Sony BMG off, all his scenes cut from a major comedy film, and he lost a part in Narnia to Will Poulter (same age).
5:05 That actually excellent foreshadowing. Earlier in the movie, Frank described Sergeant Bobwell as "an exceptional officer, truly exceptional"...which is exactly what he just called Nicholas. It's a perfect way to show how Nicholas is heading the in the same direction that Bobwell did
The poor kid would have been murdered by his own grandfather (or at least on his orders) for the sake of a stupid best village award. Can you imagine that?
Everytime I hear James Marsters talk all I can hear is a british accent in my head, countless years of watching buffy I can't even hear his real american accent . 😅😅
@@finnsimpson5253 It's a voicemail message for the officer back in London - it's an "if I'm not in the office call..." voicemail, and he says 999 (the number for the emergency services in the UK) because that will get through to the police
The stuff with the school kids should’ve been left in also I think it would’ve been good if they added Gabriel to the dead bodies under the castle to show Nicholas that the NWA is so ruthless they’d kill their own family members to win the best village award
Braniac is a complicated character. He is a Kryptonion super computer, probably the most advanced AI in the DC Universe, and he completely disregards what he was programmed to help preserve: LIFE. Depending on the origin story, he abandoned Krypton to its doom, taking with him one shrunken city and all of Krypton's knowledge. He then would travel from planet to planet, collecting knowledge and a city before destroying the planet. He values knowledge over life. One of his future incarnations became a hero in the 31st century. Brainiac 5 is a member of the Legion of Superheroes.
I'm actually upset the school kid scenes were cut. It felt a little out of nowhere at the end of the film when Angel asked them for assistance. I think they could have cut down the time on those scenes, and they would have fit right in.
I was just as confused by that. I watched this film at 16 when it first came out and remember thinking during the scene when Nicholas is getting his picture taken with the school "Man, that girl standing to the right of him is going to be cute in a few years." Come to find out that was a boy :/
@@potato1341 This was a deleted scene. In the theatrical release he didn't have a speaking role or even a given name. Finding out the kid's name was Gabriel is the only thing that gave it away.
Gabriel was played by *Joseph McManners* (born Dec. 1992). Starred in _The Little Prince_ (2004, BBC); _Celebrate Oliver!_ ; 2005 album: _In Dreams_ . Many videos of him here on RU-vid, singing, television appearances, interviews etc. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ighr3a6c1oc.html [~3: 40 - 3: 53] _"...I like to do my singing and stuff but I'm also quite a sporty person; I like to play football and tennis with my friends"_ Doesn't he appear remarkably at ease and happy? Also, near the end of the movie, Sargeant Angel takes a bag of spray cans to the kids and asks them if they're ready to put themselves to good use, followed by the next scene all the security cameras being sprayed over
It's always interesting to me how much good material a good editor throws away. Most of these are pretty good jokes, but they would have thrown off the pacing, so they had to go. You have to be ruthless.
@@LouisK364 The film was supposed to be monotonous in the beginning. It's a dichotomy between what the audience is feeling vs what Angel is feeing. He can't switch off.
