Hey what's up! I'm John and I live in Houston, Texas. I am a beginner car collector and I'm also learning how to tune and maintain my cars! Thanks for stopping by and please subscribe to my channel as I grow and modify my car collection! Life is fun with cars!
@@j168vlogs ah ok I want to add this ones to my car but wasn’t sure I already have the older versions I believe but I’m go check the, out thanks I wish you could off show how or what it looks like under the speaker location space where you took off the old bass from the rear of the car
@@gametechbuilds3755 Hey what's up! Sorry, don't have any video but I have looked up there in the past and it's just a hole lol. I do think removing the oem subwoofer made the bass more boomy in my car. Man, I haven't driven my GS in a while, really miss the subwoofer. Thanks for your comments!!
Hey what's up! I actually sourced out the work for the sub removal. I heard it is not that easy since the screws are below the rear dash and not accessible from the trunk
after watching several of these...starting to realize there is just a tad too much vlog (for me) and not enough of the car(s). lots of camera bouncing when transitioning back and forth and back and forth....
Hey what's up! Yeah, I see what you mean about the camera bouncing around, I'll keep that in mind. I use to put out less vloggy videos but the editing was insanely time consuming so I just go with the flow now. Thanks for the comment!
snip that zip tie flush at 10:33...knuckle cut waiting to happen. 🤕 actually shocked at the amount of the GRC that isn't painted in body color. Even my WRX has a 100% painted radiator support. Curious how much more of the exposed metal (or metal that can see the elements) is unpainted. yes, it has been chem dipped and is primed, but no body color paint. will JDM WRX horns work too?
Hey what's up! thanks for the tip, I like to leave a little extra on the tie in case somehow it loosens a tooth. I am an engineer what can I say. Toyota will save money everywhere they can which is ok for me as long as the car will last haha. The WRX horns may work with the OEM harness but I remember they were a bit pricey a while back.
VSC makes nice pieces (for race cars). That VSC ps mount looks rough for street use. Very direct, very stiff. 15mm of poly away from literally being a solid bar. Does the Perrin ps mount come with different durometer bushings or was that the Cobb ps mount I am thinking about?
Hey what's up! Yeah, definitely the VSC has a lot less urethane than the Perrin for the ps and the VSC transmission mount looks to also lock down the transmission more with a very unique design. Don't drive the car as a daily so I'm ok with track level mods. These pieces look very special. Thanks for watching!
@@j168vlogs... since I daily my wrx, I went the group-n mount direction (ps and trans). added the WL positive shift bushings and upper rear diff inserts. I'm trying to minimize driveline movement w/o making too harsh for daily use. I haven't touched the engine mounts yet...
@@K03sport haha, I had the same exact setup with WL and Group N but I ended up replacing my rear diff carrier bushings to group N as well. It made an incremental improvement for driveline stabilisation and response. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Si6vc4cUkRw.htmlsi=A0tSiaXac0orVZZ9
Hey what's up! Thanks! After doing the rear trunk bar on the GS350, I was like "nope" for the rest of my cars. The TE bracing I have planned is all underbody.
My left leg and foot is addicted to doing something while driving a sporty car. And my right foot heel and toes also crave double duty simultaneously. And well my right arm and right hand just don't want to only steer when driving. a sporty car. My focus isn't on rapid acceleration or 0 to 60 times. Just engagement with the machine. Automatics have their place most definitely and especially in daily stop and go traffic. It is also telling in my opinion that Aston Martin, Pagani and Gordon Murray have offer manuals in their most recent cars. Nice mod on the GR too. And triangular braces are superior to straight bar braces. Sometimes referred to as the supreme geometry. It's also great that the whole assembly is concealed from view and doesn't compromise limited storage capacity.
Question, for the upper bracing. Was it a direct bolt on? Or did you have to remove some stuff to make it fit? I have a 2019 gs350f and couldn’t get it to fit for some reason. Thanks for your help!
Hey what’s up! Sorry to bear bad news but the new transmissions for the last GS refresh won’t allow proper figment. See notes in description. Checkout IG banditgs350 he may have an alternative. Thanks for watching!
@@j168vlogs I have an Acura RDX. I was thinking the pricing on the W7s is a bit steep so I either get one of those or two of the W6s. I'm not looking to rattle the whole neighborhood. Just something that can hit hard when the music calls for it but also have the clarity and accuracy a audiophile would be proud to have. I listen to a variety of music but mostly electronic.
@@MrSupernova111 ok got it. The 12w7 I have needs to be played loud for accuracy otherwise it is inaccurate at lower volumes. I would start off with one 12w6 2ohm and a 1500 watt amp wired in series for a 4 ohm amp load, that should be good. If you are dissatisfied with the volume, you can get another 12w6 2ohm and wire both subs in series/parallel for a 2 ohm amp load which at full volume will "disturb the peace". Sealed Box is most accurate, ported/bandpass will make it more boomy. Good luck man! here a link for the wiring info to double check my comments: jlaudio.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204374200-Dual-Voice-Coil-DVC-Wiring-Tutorial
I think you still need emission inspection but not safety in order to get that yearly inspection sticker. It sounds ridiculous meaning you can have an unsafe car w/ bald tires but if you pass emissions, you are good to go.
about to do this same group-n ps mount when I do my dual catch can setup...I already have the group-n trans mount...I just want the shifter to feel more direct and engaging... snick snick
@@loukanghexican2593 I have around 4 videos talking about the GSF brake swap. Not a step by step since there are a few of those already. I just give tips that I did not see in past videos/writeups. The GSF/RCF are pretty much identical. LS460 is the same brembo caliper but not fancy powder coated and flashy. Have fun!
Hey what's up! I removed the stock sub and keep it in case I decide to revert back to stock system. It's good to remove as it allows sound pressure to travel into the cabin as it may allow for a louder and cripser *thump*.
SoCal is so much fun!! Lots of restaurants. We also got the canyons for driving!! I live like near 10 different canyon roads. Yeah it’s pricy but I can say, I never get bored here. Loved the bbq and the subie mat 😂
does your Gs350 have Mark Levinson ? my ‘15 Gs350 has ML and was debating adding this sub , as the stock sub has a muddy bass with certain notes. I also have a JBL MS8 from my last car I was debating putting in, do you think it would be a good addition ? Thanks !
@@j168vlogs i don’t play really that loud, i’m more for SQ than anything , i notice when i turn up the volume it’s more so i can feel the stock bass . i’m more for clean tight bass than super boomy, but i like boomy when it is in the song . i heard the 12w6 was better for SQ purposes, and was also pointed towards Focal K2’s for SQ. any opinion on either of those ?
@@arjunt973 I have always liked JL Audio. W6 used to be their flagship so I would go with the W6. One thing I like is that they are offered in 4ohm so you can wire as a 2 ohm setup and draw double the power from your amp lol.
@@j168vlogswill a 13” fit in the trunk ? custom box. also what box should i run ported/sealed . also do the panels rattle as i’m hoping adding a sub won’t cause that
@@arjunt973 Hey what's up! I would check the recommended box dimensions for a 12w7 on the JL audio website. From what I remember, they recommend a ported box for these subs. It would be a very close fit, these subs are really heavy too! I think over time you will have panel rattle in your car. I don't daily drive my GS, so not enough seat time to really know.
Ahh I want to have both a GS and IS 500. You inspire me to keep pushing in my career/ side gigs. You’re right the GS has potential to be a future classic. Thanks for the upload and inspiration 😁
Mine has just arrived and these days I will be installing it in my Sti 2020. I realized that in the box, the adjustment screws came loose and missing 1. Will it be easy to get?
Hey what's up! Sorry to hear you are missing parts. I don't think that exact bolt can be found. I would contact the company you bought from and ask for them to mail you the oem bolt. If not, you may consider purchasing an equivalent strength stainless steel metric bolt from a hardware store but I am not sure if that is safe or not. Hope you get it solved fast!!
Hey what's up! I use that rule usually if the FSM gives grossly incorrect torque values. Thanks for watching fam! Appreciate a knowledgable viewers input.
8:51 Subaru top mount oil filter systems aren't great since the anti drain back valve doesn't work well with their engines and allows oil to pass through the filter and flow through the supply side of the filter back into the engine instead of keeping the filter primed. The oiling system then has to fill the filter back up every start when that occurs which causes a delay in oil pressure and subsequently additional wear. Thank goodness more cars don't have top mount oil filters lol. Plenty of Subaru owners notice when they remove the oil filter it's fairly dry when you would hope the filter would be holding a decent amount of oil. Seems ridiculous to me that an OEM would do that, but it happens on my brothers GR86 as well.
Hey what's up! Dang man, that was some great clarity you provided, really appreciate it fam! Knowing that, I understand why Toyota does not have top mount oil filter designs on their engines. Have fun!
Hey what's up! Man, so sorry for the wait but it will be soon. I want to see how the car sounds with stock exhaust and engine at full blast for prolly 500-1000 miles and then change out the exhaust. Thanks for your patience bro!
The orange part in the filter is an anti-drain valve which prevents oil from draining out of filter when the engine is shut down. All external filters have it
Hey what's up! Thank you for the comment. I remember now reading that back in the day on NASIO. Great to know GR Corolla drivers are just as technical.
btw for future videos, the sound seems to only have been Left audio. Glad you made the video, break in oil changes should be a thing even if manufacturers want to pretend like it's not needed
Hey what's up! Yeah, I was thinking about an M4 but my friends told me to save for a Porsche if I am not a big euro car fan. BMW has come a long way considering Toyota uses them in their Supra now. Thanks for the comment fam!
@@KG_BM Wix XP is probably the logical replacement for Toyota filters since they prioritize oil flow over absolute filtering efficiency, just like Toyota, but seem to have better filtering efficiency than Toyota filters based on some oil filter comparison videos by the "Brand Ranks" YT channel. The Toyota filters seem to be designed with maximum flow in mind for cold and hot operation, and therefore relatively poor filtering for smaller particle sizes, and Wix similarly has great flow characteristics compared to higher efficiency filters that are more restrictive like Purolator Boss, etc.
It’s called a crush washer … It’s a great idea to do the first oil change at 1000 miles to get rid of the contaminants that will be in that first oil change .. But if you want to step it up a notch, Amsoil signature the best oil on the planet
Hey what's up! I agree that Amsoil is the best and would def use for track cars. Oh man, would love to have a track only car eventually. Appreciate the comment fam!
Amsoil is a great marketing company that just happens to sell oil. Just do not buy into their 10,000 oil change interval otherwise you will end up in a world of pain. For the RCF Renewable Lubricants is better, it quietens down the cold start chatter and engine runs smoother. Unfortunately Renewable Lubricants doesn't have an oil that meets GR Corolla specs. Pennzoil, Mobil1 meet and exceed oem specs
Have you considered going to Coffee and Cars? Houston area has a few, just saw a post on facebook for one in Cypress Tx. There's also an event called ESCM (Eat Sleep Car Meet).
REAL GT3 car! Amazing spec man! Thats what I love about this car. I have a blackline 350... RCF when I'm ready, hope to get any 2020 up in the future, stock market pending haha
Yo! I love all the new rides you got! Livin' the dream! Do you know why this is listed as specifically for use with the 18mm rear Group N swaybar? I just noticed that while looking at the description in the Group N catalog. It's not like the bushing directly connects to the swaybar itself. I have the 20mm swaybar that I'm going to install but I'm having second thoughts about installing this also.
Hey what’s up bro!Been a while since I heard from you lol. Thanks!Love the cars and def feel blessed to have them. Not exactly sure why it’s only made for the 18mm sway bar, I actually think my WRX is stock with a 20mm rsb but I went ahead and installed it. My assumption is the 18mm rsb allows for more independent suspension movement so they want to make sure the car doesn’t lose traction on rough roads with a stiffer bushing?STi seems very exacting when it comes to their products which is pretty awesome imo. Up to you!
