Worryingly, this is probably the best we can play at the moment and we still lost to a pretty average team! I know there have been defensive howlers this season but I think our biggest problem is the problem we all knew we would have this season if we didn't buy a goalscorer or two in the summer and that is scoring goals! If you ignore that crazy 50 minutes against Blackpool, we've only scored two goals in about 14 hours of league football this season; 16 hours if you go back to last season! People say goalscorers cost money but if our owners can afford a training ground, new stands and St Johnstone FC, then surely they can afford strikers who at least know how to score goals and surely they can give our manager at least some sort of chance of keeping us up! Poor Garry was given a League Two squad which, with injuries and the players' current form, has turned into a National League squad! There isn't a manager on Earth who could've kept us up with this squad!
I agree with you. However the fact that Monk with these low level players should be playing to their strengths they do rather than forcing them to play this passing tactic which seems too complicated for this group of players. Playing 5 defenders, wing backs look constantly isolated from the rest of the team pushing up to try and create chances but when the centre backs and/or midfield lose the ball because of monks tactical style we’re instantly in danger from constant pressure and counter attacks. I also don’t understand the positioning of some of the players in the starting eleven: Andrews is poor defensively but he’s used as an outside centre back. Brophy used in the middle when he can’t pass the ball five yards I understand we have injury issues but monk consistant use of the this formation and tactical style is going to get us relegated if we’re not already.
more interested in pissing around buying advertising boards and improving the match day experience instead of consolidating our place in the league and now it’s come back to bite us, tough lesson not learned
Absolutely hopeless. We've been scraping survival at this level for two seasons, they've learned no lessons during that time and now the luck has run out. The whole football side of the club needs a complete overhaul. The recruitment, the tactics, the fitness, the motivation of the players - it's all a complete mess and nobody, least of all the coaching staff, seem to have a clue about how to address any of these issues. This club has frequent patterns of relative success followed by long periods of downward spiral and that's what is playing out again now, sadly.
It would be us that allowed it to happen. But I imagine that your very long period of no away wins since Nov 2022 comes as a result of you guys being a little fish in the very big pond that is The Championship. A bit like us in this division for the past few seasons.
Just when you thought things couldn't get any more farcical, we go and concede a ridiculous goal like that! What a way for Garry to see his disastrous spell at the club come to an end! Good luck in finding a manager capable of getting a tune out of these useless instruments! It will never happen but if Paul Barry had any sense, Ben Strang would be sacked at the same time as Garry!
I think even if the Us win against Rotherham, Monk will be gone by the end of October, Cardiff sacked their manager because of a similar start to the season and, unfortunately, the same needs to happen here. It hasn’t worked out which is a pity but football is a business and the Us can’t afford to go down
Cambridge flirt with relegation every season. Only difference this season is they are going to make it a nailed on certainty. Truth is cambridge don't even belong in the football league
We look lost Yes of course we are going to be relegated but league 2 is where the board are happy for us to be Is there any point in sacking monk ? A new manager wont make much difference but another defeat tueday then it will definitely be monks final game If that happens sack barry corr as well as he is just as bad
The board should resign en masse. Barry has not invested in the first team for years. I will be calling him out at a near future home game......and it won't be pretty.
I remember when my school under 12 side played against a student group of 19 year olds. We were thrashed, but at least we were decently organised, committed to tackles and had something to be proud of. I am not sure why I thought of that now.
The attendances are very good, but the performances and results are absolutely awful. Fans are doing their bit, but the team is giving them nothing in return. 4th season in this division and it seems like one too many. Going backwards fast!
Wylie the happy clapper often comes on here to have a go at anyone who says anything negative and often accuses said people of not having anything interesting to say. Well, come on then Wylie, tell us why we should all be positive after six months without a win, four losses in a row, eight losses in 10, one home win in 14 etc etc! I still say Strang and our owners who decided to only spend about 5% of the money they were willing to invest into the club on the first team deserve more blame for our terrible position than Monk does but it's clear now that Garry can't get much good out of the terrible bunch he's been given to work with and I think it's best if he just gets away from this terrible mess before he does even more damage to his reputation! He obviously won't forgo any compensation he's due by resigning, so it's probably best if Paul Barry puts him out of his misery tomorrow.
Are you too embarrassed to show "highlights" from the Wycombe game or do you feel sorry for us long-suffering fans and don't want to inflict more pain on us? As I said last week, Strang, our owners and our players deserve more criticism for our current plight than Garry does, however, it's clear that we can't go on not winning and rarely drawing for months and months and, sadly, I think this could be the third occasion in recent times when our manager gets the boot after losing at home to Lincoln. I'd personally give him until the end of October to turn things around but I'd be surprised if we didn't get rid of him if we don't win either of our next two home games.
After the match v Wycombe, we’re still the worst team in league one: 21 Rotherham United 7 -4 6 22 Burton Albion 6 -2 4 23 Shrewsbury Town 7 -7 3 24 Cambridge United 6 -7 1
Worst team in the league, table doesn’t lie: 21 Leyton Orient 6 -4 6 22 Shrewsbury Town 7 -5 6 23 Burton Albion 6 -1 5 24 Cambridge United 6 -7 1. Played 6, one point gained
Interesting that there’s no pre match interview for the Wycombe game, perhaps the club have woken up and smelt the coffee and realised that they are the worst team in League One and tables don’t lie but tell a story
Rank performance but you need to look at the contract offers in the summer to see where some of the problems are, Kachunga and Kai Kai, I wouldn’t have given them a contract and would have brought others in with the money saved
