@@MusicalAddictionOnlineLessons Timpsons on Petty Cury is where Ken Stevens's music shop was in the early 1960s. As you walk up to the market square, the edge of the Guildhall, where the hideous statue is, was the location for the performance by STARS. The Friends Meeting House on Jesus Lane is where Syd performed with Geoff Mott and the Mottoes. If you stand in front of the Round Church, there is a passageway to the right that leads to the university centre. If you find the right person on reception, they might allow you to go downstairs and round to the union cellars. Down the passageway at the side of TK Maxx is where the Criterion pub was located. And along Sidney Street to where the entrance to Sainsbury's supermarket is where the Italian cafe was situated. King Street is where Syd purchased his paints from the art shop called Tindalls. Have a lovely time.

Syd Barett was a talented, gifted young man. Unfortunately, he had the wrong friends and hung out with junkies. Nick.M said: We ignored the problem. A sad story for the whole family. When he released his two solo albums, Syd Barett was on the verge of schizophrenia!!! Psychiatry wasn't ready back then... I'm interested in how Syd lived with his illness???? Unfortunately, there are no more books in German...

There was a very rare and upbeat Floyd song that came out post Barrett,about '69. It was sung by Rick or Roger and was around 6 minutes long. It had a renissance melodic organ,a trippy middle 8 guitar solo with strange sound effects and lyrics of someone dreaming of a past affair with thoughts of "dancing"flowing through his mind. The song was upbeat.lIt was a bootleg but I'm sure it had a title. If anyone has an idea what it is,please let me know. Thanks!

No but I got a HINT on PINK FLOYDS ODDS AND ALLSORTS,1968-1977. At the 8 minute mark of the video is snippets of an upbeat version of the song's OUTRO, lasting about 30 seconds. I hope this helps in pin-pointing the title.It's a rare,lost song as suggested by others

The video was made in 2008, two years after the passing of Syd. Originally it would have included the wonderful Clive Welham, drummer with Jokers Wild and Geoff Mott and the Mottoes but sadly, when I asked him he was in the early stages of dementia.

Thanks for the great video! Was funny to see myself in one of the photos! Hahaha! Amazing also to see my lovely friend Cari Wilkins in this video in the Granchester Meadows photos. We actually met for the first time on that City Wakes tour & went to some of the other City Wakes events together aswell. We spoke to you on that minibus tour, outside Syd's house in fact. I'd taken some flowers around to Syd's house soon after I had heard he had died. Sadly Cari passed also in 2012, suddenly 😪, but this is a happy memory seeing her again here, reminding me of fun times we had meeting up in London for those few years before she passed. We were always mega Syd fans. It's wonderful that you included Sainsbury's aswell as I actually met Syd on the 19th July 2001 outside that very Sainsbury's whilst doing a Cranberry juice promotion & spoke to him briefly. Wish I'd given Syd a big hug really! He stood next to me for ages with his shopping list looking through it & looking at the contents of his shopping trolley. Definitely an adorable legend was Syd! Shine on darling chap! 💖🌈🌟

Where can I find the original photo of the flower power photo of your girlfriend in the Botanical Gardens?
@pinkfloydandsydbarretttour5569
Why, Do you know her? It's part of a larger photo with six of us. Taken by the local newspaper in the Summer of 1967 after we were seen giving out flowers in the centre of town. The photos were never published but years later I bribed a photographer from the publication to find them when they were doing an article about my record label.

I wonder if Ken Stevens Shop is where Syd sold his Mirrored Tele too? Maybe someone in Cambridge still has it. R I P Roger
@pinkfloydandsydbarretttour5569
Sadly I have no answer for that. It could be that the stick-on mirror patches were removed and it was sold as a 'normal' Telecaster. In 1968, Ken Stevens was located on Guildhall Street, close to the market square and a few yards from where Syd played an open-air gig with STARS. They certainly bought and sold a lot of guitars, so maybe that's what happened to it? Another mystery is what happened to the front door of Syd's house on St Margaret's Square. The new owners replaced it. I assume the builder simply took it to a recycling centre, so another artefact disappeared. Obviously, if anyone out there has any information it would be nice to know.

I am slightly surprised and saddened that I was not mentioned in the part regarding Syd at school, learning art and guitar at home and attending Homerton College life drawing classes. I was an integral part of that and attended with Syd. Syd and I both went on to the Art College, and it was there during our frequent 'jams' that we met David Gilmour. I was also in The Ramblers with Clive Welham and at the centre of their meeting. Clive and I went on to form Jokers Wild when the Davids were headhunting local talent.

John, I am sorry you feel you were left out. I was only 12 in 1962 when The Ramblers were around. When I was researching, I checked with everyone I could find. Sadly, the lovely Clive Welham was already in the early stages of Dementia. He was my first choice for the guide on these videos but his recollection had disappeared. Had I been about four or five years older I would have been part of ‘the scene’. My first experience of local bands was around 1965 when, at the age of fifteen, I asked the customers of the pub my parents ran in Histon if they would take me to The Racehorse to watch the bands. My favourites were Somethin’ Else and The Go Fyfe. I spent over six months researching the material for the videos. As well as having lived in Cambridge since 1962. I checked with every single person I could find who knew Syd and Roger Waters and David Gilmour. With regards to the schools and colleges you and the others attended, most of the teachers had left. The only person I could find was David Jones who at the time, was still at The Perse. I tried to speak with Geoff Mott via RU-vid but as soon as I asked any questions about his early life, he blocked me. Sadly, he passed away a few years back. It was a shame he refused to open up. I admired him a lot. The Boston Crabs records are awesome. I think I brought a lot of fresh information to light. For example, I discovered the real location for Geoff Mott & The Mottoes' only public performance. Not the Jesus Lane venue always listed before. As I say, I was too young to be part of ‘the gang’ and I didn’t attend Homerton College, so I couldn’t possibly have known about your relationship with Syd. It’s been 60 years and the various people I spoke with have different recollections of the line-up of The Ramblers. As you were a member you have better knowledge. Thank you for getting in touch. If you have any further information I would love to meet up if you still live in Cambridge.

Only just started to watch this ..... and errors already. I played 2nd guitar, Dave Altham played keyboards and sax. Rick Wills was only ever an occasional stand-in and Peter Gilmour covered for Tony Saintey. David Gilmour was not in The Ramblers. Myself and Clive Welham were.

@johngordon2023 2 года назад
@@britishcrimewriter-LeeWood Hi Lee Thanks for the reply. I am staggered what this could be. In what way does it confirm that? What makes no sense is that The Ramblers had a lead guitarist (Albie Prior) and a vocalist (Chris) and I cannot see how and why David would even wish to join ... I didn't get to play in a line up with David until Clive and I left The Ramblers to join David and David and Tony and create Jokers Wild. I had 'jammed' along with Syd at the Art College and Tech College ... but never in any previous band, especially one I was already in. Please send me a link / notification once that has been posted.

Amazing stuff my ex friend sorta mock me for still liking Syd Barett around 2019 I been a fan since 1990 college days when I found his solo vinyl albums in the college library I'll nevet forget how I connected with Syd's music immediately and found out The Wall movie was about or inspired by Syd and I still prefer the original Pink.Floyd despite of overwhelming support out there for post David Gilmour Pink Floyd for me there's only one Pink Floyd and that's Syd Barrett with Roger Waters only one !
@pinkfloydandsydbarretttour5569
Sadly, people will always mock someone else's taste in music. But when you have a true genius like Syd Barrett and the early Floyd, you know you have great taste. The music sounds as good today as it did back in the 60s.

Syd was friends with Gilmore years before joining pink floyd. Syd and Gilmore used to jam together trading off on guitar and harmonica. In 64 65 Syd and Gilmore got busted together while busking in France. I don't know what busking is? It was on a timeline through years during pink floyd.
