Winsor Blue has pigment PB 15:3 which is Phthalo Blue Yellow Shade, Winsor Green has pigment PG7 which is Phthalo Green Blue Shade. No? Now they distinguish the shades in the name: Winsor Blue (Green Shade) - PB15:3, Winsor Blue (Red Shade) - PB15 Winsor Green (Blue Shade) - PB7, Winsor Green (Yellow Shade) - PG36 I prefer PB15:3 and PG36
@@MarionChapmanArtist I forgot to add on my previous comment about your question about a transparent Burnt Sienna. Probably the color is Transparent Red Oxide (PR101), a lovely color that mixes so well with Ultramarine Blue to create a very interesting chromatic black. It can also create very pleasing crimson colors with Quinacridone Magenta. I would also recommend Transparent Yellow Oxide (PY42), a great color to have to darken yellow and for mixing greens. I just watched your video about your palette, I think you would enjoy Indanthrone Blue (PB50), also known as Anthraquinone Blue. This color can create beautiful purples with Quinacridone Magenta and great greens with your yellow or Transparent Yellow Oxide.
I love this technique. I have been admiring your hand tattoo...I have several pieces of my own artwork tattooed on my arms and legs....but I have been wanting a hand tattoo....You have inspired me.
Love your technique for the trees and how easy you made it. I've been working on my trees for several months and they have improved but I do like yours. Also I like the idea of keeping white in the tree. I also like the quote about "leave space for the birds to fly through."
How beautiful Marion. A lovely technique. You are a wonderful teacher and I am glad you are coming back to watercolour. I hope you start to feel better soon. Big thumbs up 👍 🎉cheers, Judy.
Thank you so much for sharing this technique. I know how it feels when it seems nothing is going your way creatively. I have faith that you will find your way. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and your time. It helps to let the rest of us know that we are not alone in those moments when we feel we just can't get "it" right.
Aww, thanks Viv!! I love reading that. Also, I've been gathering some items to paint with watercolour ground and will get that vid going in the next few weeks. x
Hello Marion. Thank you for these two tutorials. They have given me inspiration for several projects. Plus the information on products that I can use. 🎉❤ cheers Judy

Hello Marion. Thank you for this tutorial. It is very inspiring. We are away at the moment, but l now have some lovely projects to do when home. The wax coat certainly enhances the artwork. I also appreciated your health and safety comments regarding chemical. Cheers,Judy 🎉
You're actually painting a silver wattle, which have the grey leaves. Golen wattle have green leaves. There are about a 1000 varieties of wattles in Australia.
@@judyelton1695 Hi Judy, I've finally edited part 2 for this watercolour travel journal. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kXMGzQKSLXg.htmlsi=omzrmg-C19D9x8OP
I just discovered the use of Dorland's Wax Medium to seal my watercolor paintings before viewing this video. I really like it, especially when using my watercolors in non-traditional ways. I do take issue with you in that Dorland's contains mineral spirits, which are toxic to humans, especially if inhaled or swallowed. The label instructs the use of DWM in a well ventilated area and states that it can be buffed after 24 hours, so I assume 24 hours is the dry time. Getting back to toxicity - poisons can enter the body through the skin. While this might not cause the acute symptoms associated with inhalation or ingestion, it is definitely something to be aware of and to take precautions to avoid damage to the neurological system, kidneys and liver, especially with long term use and repeated exposure. I was duped into not wearing gloves the first time I used Dorland's because I couldn't smell it. However, even after washing my hands several times after application, my hands continued to tingle for hours afterwards. I now wear gloves EVERY time I use this product. Be safe and avoid the potential long term health effects of chemical exposure from this product. The packaging does not claim that this product is "non-toxic", it lists precautions. Use them.
That is such a great way to display watercolour without spending a fortune on frames/ framing. Thanks so much for a great demonstration of the technique Marion. Do you buy the wax online from the huge company??
You can make your own concertina watercolour book or you can buy one already made www.marionchapmanartist.com/journals-for-you/p/style-01-ej5na-csf3p-mbsef-96ghf
Once again Marion, a fabulous tutorial. What a wonderful idea. I will make make four to give at Christmas for my daughters and granddaughters. Many thanks.🎉❤
Hello, I'm intrigued by your mention of the recommended you tube channel, is it colour lex? I tried searching for variations on that and couldn't find it. I can't find the link you mentioned you'd put into the description. Thanks for this video.
Sweet video, i just got my second lortable painter, and got some expansion pans for it. You can also use the little band to hold a couple of brushes or pencils while your painting too ❤❤
Sorry to be late to the party... but do you have any other videos about how to use 'warm and cool' color theory as is pertains to blues and mixing? Sigh, I'm pretty sure there's something here that I don't understand yet and need to. ❤😊
Hi Windy, I love your question. I’ve scanned my archive and not sure I do. Perhaps this vid on colour mixing in general may help in a broader sense. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NpBoy0aRa2w.htmlsi=0odDOlkMklt-348l
that was lovely review of book,,, at least it is a book that you can grow into as painting skills develop!! i thought it looked interesting.... perspective is great topic,, so are the sketching tips... thanks for sharing!
Hello Marion. Thank you for the book review. Many of the theories in the book you have covered over time on your channel🎉. Which I am grateful for. Your exercise is delightful. Once again you have incorporated colour and brush techniques in it.I think I might adapt it to a smaller version for a card.❤
Great question. You could replace Windsor blue with phthalo blue and replace phthalo green with Viridian but check that it’s transparent. I hope that helps .
