I accidentally walked into my parents seeing this as a kid... they had to take me out to calm me down because I was obnoxiously laughing for 4 minutes straight over Gypsy "crushing" Joel.
I have a massive list of scenes way funnier than this. The Sloane interview at the end of Hobgoblins is priceless. Almost any Rowsdower reference is pure joy. The "They Just Didn't Care" bit after Attack Of The The Eye Creatures was perfection. I'm not certain, but I think my favorite Mystery Science Theater 3000 moment of all time is "MAN!! He just scooped of his stool and threw it at her!!"
My mom and I watched this episode once (it was one of the the first mst3k episodes I watched), and we literally cracked up seeing Gypsy ram the daylights out of Joel. We actually had to pause the episode for a bit during the commercial sign so we could stop laughing. Now you know why Gypsy's my favorite character of the series.
0:21-0:31 (Dexter punches Masuka in the face.) Dexter: What is this?! Angel: Your bachelor party, hermano! Masuka: Ow! Ah, watch the grill, George Foreman.
I ended up seeing some pretty bad CGI rip-off movies back then without knowing the concept of a movie's badness, I regretted it now, so I'll nominate all bad disney movies for FAPS, even the scariest ones due to their dark content!
When we come back... Gypsy: Serves you right for taking advantage of these little charmkins! Joel: Yeah? Why don't you ask these "charmkins" what I found oozing out of my pillow case this morning?
Taking advantage of inanimate hands for "rock paper scissors" as a punishment for putting something disgusting in a pillow case, is considered going too far. But holy crap, the way they portrayed Gypsy beating Joel up like was absolutely hilarious, it was almost like a jump scare when she did that.
Reminds me of that episode where Crow went in time to prevent Mike from getting on the satellite, only for his brother(?) to be the one there and the guy whacks Crow during the movie for using a bad pun.
Despite Gypsy's hilariously grating voice at the time, I laughed so hard I hurts the first time when I saw her burst in with that shriek and beat the tar out of Joel.
That "Edge Of A Dream" song deserved better than this lame movie. Still a lot of good riffs to come from these credits, though, and I love that shocking swerve where Tom Servo and Crow turn on Mike and accuse him of being responsible for this movie's very existence before coming up with a long-winded scenario that has nothing to do with the movie in question at all, which results in a brief but funny fight before they come to their senses. Definitely in the Top 5 or 10 End Credits sequences (along with others like Werewolf and The Final Sacrifice). "So the best boy that they could come up with was FUZZY SKINNER?"
Seriously, it's ACTUALLY a pretty good song. It reminds me of the story about the guy who did the theme to Blazing Saddles, and Mel Brooks felt bad that the guy sang his heart out on what was intended to be a silly farce. Do you think Steve McClintock went into the booth knowing the dumpster fire this movie was going to be?
I can't even rewatch the episode without howling with laughter over Gypsy here, it even was like a jumpscare for a bit, Just beating Joel up like that is funny enough, but her ridiculous falsetto voice for that scene is the cherry on top. Overall, I think Gypsy ramming Joel is easily if not, one of the most hilarious moments MST3K has offered.
Nothing like FAPS. Where would we be without good reliable FAPS? Sure some look down on FAPS and talking about it in public definitely turns a few heads, but I think if we’re being honest about our feelings behind closed doors most of us understands the benefits of FAPS. It takes care of all our built-up tension and stress. Sure the satisfaction may not last long yet it’s important to see it more as a reprieve one mustn’t constantly rely on FAPS either. If that’s the case try going a month without FAPS.
The bit where Tom and Crow unfairly roast Mike for everything bad about the Eighties is why I like the Mike episodes better than the Joel episodes. "You know it would've continued to be the Seventies if it wasn't for you!"
Called and donated. But then was torn about my contribution. If these films in addition to other terrible films disappear, then the mads may bring the satellite back down to earth, destroying joel, or mike, gypsy, cambot, magic voice, crow and tom,, as it burns up during re-entry.
that's what happened at the end of he original series. Pearl brought the satellite down by accident, and everyone inside the satellite survived the crashed landing.
They've always made this Don't Pay The Ferryman joke, but i never had heard the song before. So I finally searched it up and literally just heard it for the first time. How come I didn't hear this before? Kevin seemed to love the hell out of it so much. I never heard it on the radio in my life either.
Since they all work for the police in a city that has a lot of serial killers they can understand why someone would be so aggressive if they were stuck in a trunk
Dealing with my mother who's raving about the 1950s. Me: Seriously, mom you can't stop talking about it? You and your 50s. Friend: you're precious 50s. Me: it would have continued to be the 40s if not for you! Friend: yeah!
