There were two indentations on my key fob. Only the one on the top corner would let me twist it open with a quarter, and my battery was plus side up. This fob had a little arm holding the battery in place, so it might be the only version that has the battery seated that way. Always check before removing the battery, just in case.

OEM can’t be better as a signal reaches the vehicle at 100+ feet. Equipped with rolling code technology, the (BCM) body control module receives the appropriate signal thru a Passenger’s door module on trucks & SUV’s, and drivers “B” pillar on vans, etc. All programming runs by car line for about 5 yrs then changes. GM trucks had you pull the (MFS) multi-function-switch to high beam, key on, key off, 3 times, locks cycle then your in program mode. Push lock, door lock cycles, repeat up to 5 key Fobs. First one in is first out. A parts manager told me he had 25-30 people a week ask for new keys as they lost them! What are people doing? Good luck with your project!

Make sure that you have the battery going the correct way. If that doesn't work try disconnecting the car battery for a few minutes and reconnecting, that has worked for others in the past. If that still doesn't work, you might need to replace it.
Do you have to re program the fob after changing battery? I just got my jeep and the guy that sold it to me said it just needs a new battery we did that and still don't work.
If the key was programmed to the car, you do not need to reprogram it if you change the battery. If its still not working the key might be dead or it wasn't actually programmed.
Hello, the directions below should work for this remote. Obtain all remote transmitters for this vehicle. This procedure will erase all previously programmed remotes. You must program all existing and new remotes that you wish to use on the vehicle at this time. 1. Close all doors, insert key into ignition - do not turn it. 2. Hold the UNLOCK button on the diver's side door - DO NOT RELEASE until instructed to do so in step 4. 3. Quickly turn ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF. (Do not start the car, ON is the position just before starting and OFF is where you can remove the key) 4. RELEASE the UNLOCK button. The locks will now cycle from lock to unlock signaling the vehicle has entered programming mode. ***If the locks cycle before you release the unlock button, the programming will not work and your vehicle is not in programming mode - Repeat from step 1. If the locks continue to cycle before releasing, the procedure is not being followed correctly or something is malfunctioning with the vehicle's keyless entry system. 5. Push and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the same time on the first remote you wish to program. Hold the buttons down together until the vehicle responds by cycling the door locks (you may have to hold the buttons down for up to 5 minutes when programming a new remote - previously paired remotes will pair more quickly). Repeat step 5 for any additional or existing remotes that you wish to program and use on the vehicle at this time. 6. Turn the key to the ON position, which exits programming mode. Programming is now complete. Test all remotes.
