Mine too. I was a young girl in the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 and no clue about how big was Michel Camilo but this song was fantastic. There was a lady singing to the music and her voice made me pay attention to the lyrics and I was immediately hooked on Latin Jazz.
Pleeeeze! Jesus Christ is the most glorious Jew, who’s still the One any man can welcome in his heart to behave like a good man, but contrary to what you seem to think, he cannot be associated with the modern Israel and its flag. The ongoing (for 2000 years) scandal that justifies what I’m telling you is that the final revelation of the Kabbale (as reported by various followers of the multi-year teaching that came out of it appalled) is that Christ is an imposter and that the true messiah of Israel will soon come and reign on the whole world. Asinine, undignified, stupidly confrontational! That said, quelle musique, putain et en effet, camarade ! 😊
I have been listening to this song for... Say... 30 years. It still fills my heart with happines. Theres also the skill of the players. Awesome! Excellent.
Why is this not on Spotify? This and “In trio” is my Favorite Camilo Albums... both of them not on Spotify... I have them both on CD 💿 but It would make it a lot easier if you could stream them... and everybody needs to here these 2 masterpieces!
I grew up listening to Why Not by Michel Camilo. I believe this album came out in 1985, 34 years ago. I was born in Moca, Dominican Republic, and I am too a pianist, organist by God's grace, and I thank Michele Camilo for the inspiration!
Ajaaa I’m not the only one. I was 10-11 years old also in the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 and i remember a lady singing to it too. Her voice and how funny the song was got me hooked on latin jazz. Finally found it again. Love Latin jazz and I have to thank this man. He just doesn’t know it.
Idk why this version of Why Not is so hard to find on most outlets like Spotify and when searched you only get the big band version which is totally off for me . The whole reason that song is what it is , is the chemistry and fire of 3 guys wailing so hard that they’re making edge of your seat moves and it’s one of the only times Dave sounds like he’s not fully automatic from that time period .. I mean it was hearing this song for the first time on a crappy plastic fm radio in a hole in the wall music store at 15 or maybe 14 years old ... that made me question everything . I had never heard drums or an ensemble play music like that . It probably was on KKGO or some alt Jazz station that mostly played cool smooth jazz and this thing made my head turn and glue to that little 4” speaker and I had to have the album ... since then a lot has happened but when you play this now ? Holds up and still obliterates so many of the recordings and captured moments in history ... how this version of Why Not ! isn’t on a Mount Rushmore of jazz fusion trio masterpieces is beyond me . If this is not currently issued and needs to be reissued ... please . Do the right thing Michel
