copied from another reply: "I skip meeting the mayor (as well as that entire quest of freeing Jon and taking the raft down Twinpeak) by doing a skip directly to the L Brace (which is kinda the entire point of that section of the game.) The skip starts by getting Hop around the 10 minute mark and at 11:03, I cancel hop on the frame I land which stores a very high vertical momentum value. The frame after I walk off the edge of the river, the game reads this value and instead of making me fall, it launches me up higher than a normal jump and I can skip directly to the chest. If you want to learn the trick, I have a tutorial here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-niNmkWD8vaE.html or if you want to watch a run that doesn't do any skips, I've also done one of those here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0CVT38v6IiU.html"
@roastefied3309 after double jumping, you can pause and switch scrolls and the game will let you do an additional double jump. Just chaining those to skip needing the L Shoes for this room. I have a tutorial here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dbh8WG0JFxQ.htmlsi=fcImUv6aRx2Kn7mE

Looks like I failed it in this run too lol. I've since improved this run by over an hour if you want a much better representation of the run ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HoV9OlstBhI.htmlsi=SRBD0BZWK59PhfAu
lollll, you found some bugs in the game, that's awesome..!!! i watched another speedrun, and it took 4.5 hours to completed it (i know that super fast, compared with me which need days), and found this video i was like 'serious bruh????' but, this is awesome for sure, really!!!!
That hop skip to the L bracer is tough. I tried learning this speedrun years ago and could not get it down. I have a physical copy so no save states to practice. GG on the run!
@@zacharylawrence one day ill revisit it. It helped to see your inputs becuase back in the day there was a description but it was less than clear how the trick worked/actual inputs. BFM is a top tier game even by today's standards on my opinion. Glad it's been getting some love over the last few years.
@kylecorrales9962 hey tell me about it. When I first try to learn from watching someone, I didnt know you needed to hold X while storing the hop lol. Agreed though, this game is wonderful. Been playing it for about 24 years :D
Literally one of the most unique, fun and memorable games ever made. This was from the squaresoft glory days, they just couldn't miss back then. I remember first trying the demo of this game from the demo disc that came with parasite eve or ffviii, I forget which one, I think they both had demo disc's that came with the game. In a time of remakes, this game would make for an amazing remake. Every part of this game was just *chefs kiss * perfect. As long as it's done in a respectful and loving way. They don't make them like this anymore. I try to beat this game at least once every year, it's such a treat.
Hey me too. It's neat how the melody was recontextualized for the sky scroll at 1:28:15. Kinda wish they did something different like that for all five.
You just need to get a strike in vambee bowling. I do a glitch in the run where I knock out most with my sword then hit the last one with a ball but it's the same idea regardless.
Always liked Spyro. I remember playing on PlayStation and GameCube Spyro, Mario, and the Ty Tasmanian games. I "owned" the GameCube while the PlayStation was for my elder brother. Few years later I had a Xbox and was playing Lego star wars and racing games like Pro Street. I also picked up a Wii around 2010-12.Still feels like yesterday. While I still feel closer to Xbox then PlayStation, I wish I got a PS3 back in the day instead of a 360. Exclusives were better (besides halo) and PS3 had built in wireless, and 360 did not.
LoL, I am shocked, just found out there are some hacks and tricks here and there in this game. Nice gameplay especially in that sky castle, a long run stage with many enemy and boss and little health supply. Feeling nostalgic after seeing the ending credit scene. Good story and music design. I hope this amazing game get a remake.
