Your yard is amazing 🤩 I can appreciate how much sweat equity it has taken to get it to look so lush & beautiful 😍 Sorry about the poison Ivy, that experience sounded rough 😫 So enjoyable to hear your thoughts about the American Sampler, you’ve made fantastic progress. I even stopped to look up the Queen Stitch. It’s great that you are really enjoying that stitch! The paintings are lovely, a peaceful, serene view for your guests 😊 You just come on whenever you can, no pressure, life is full , I’ll be here , thanks for sharing yourself with us 🙋♀️🇨🇦
What a lovely birthday 😊 Actually today, the 25th is my birthday 🎂 March is the best birthday month! I am doing some baking, quilting & cross stitching. My kids are coming for supper. Everything I Love 💚
Wow we are both Aries and you and my late husband have the same birthday. Happy birthday Heather.. I hope it was so special doing the things you love to do with your love ones.
Go for it. I would suggest to try the Schipper brand because you won't regret it. But their kits are costly compared to the other companies. Herrschners sell their kits. My second fave brand is Dimension paintworks but you have to learn to mix some colors and match it with the color guide. It may be frustrating to beginners. Another brand I recommend is masterpiece by numbers, all colors are pre-mixed like Schipper. Also, I recommend joining a FB group so you can ask questions and learn tips. I do not gesso my canvas, others do that. There are colors that won't cover the numbers on cells, my tip is to apply several layers of paint. If still not covering, I mix a little white paint with the colored paint for the first layer, then top it with the correct color when dried. I always put a top coat on the finished painting to protect them. I also buy a set of detailed brushes for small cells, I don't just rely on the paint brushes they provided. It is actually relaxing to do paint-by-numbers I am sure you'll love it.
@@SimplyCeliacraftingdiary Thanks for all the info. I'm in the UK so I'm not sure if these brands are available here, but I'll have a look. I'm seen others using gesso on the canvas - why don't you use it? I'm definitely going to try paint-by-numbers 😊
Oh you are journaling too!! I got that idea from a RU-vid video. My washi sometimes not sticking well so I had to run my finger many times to make it to adhere to the page. But I like how the washi edges look. Thanks for watching!
What a lovely frame for the Kitty 😊 Compliments the design perfectly. It’s ok to purge projects & I’ve done so in the past. Right now I have one that I’m just not sure about, I am unhappy with the fabric. So, I’ve wrapped it up carefully for long term storage and there it will sit & wait. I have learned to be more discerning about starts. Washing fabric & floss first if it’s hand dyed to rid the excess dye to prevent bleeding after the project is stitched & I want to wash for fully finishing. I audition threads by stitching X’s in the margins to see how fabric & floss play together before I start stitching the pattern. The time & effort it takes is well worth it in the end if it prevents me from wasting valuable time stitching a 1000 stitches on an expensive piece of fabric only to decide I don’t like it. I am getting very close to finishing a Lavender & Lace Angel called The Guardian. I still have about 3800 stitches to go plus 2 small faces ( Angel & the baby she is holding) I am tempted to stitch 1 over 1 , I’ve tried it once years ago. But my eyes are much older now & I don’t trust that my stitches would look smooth. Your experience with 1 over 1 skin makes me want to throw that silly notion out of my head. I have tried practice stitching in the margins but I am still undecided. It will be the last part I will stitch so the wavering decision continues for now. I really look forward to your videos & thanks for sharing. PS : maybe you could put an email in the description box below so I could contact you & get your address as well & send you more goodies from Canada! Take care friend 🙋♀️🇨🇦
I like you methods Heather. I understand why steps like that are needed to save us from having regrets later (like I do). I am too impatient though but I need to change my ways and be mindful next time when I start a new project. Thanks for sharing, really good tips. I think I have that chart The Guardian. I would love to start that but I think I still would consider one over one on her face, just maybe depending on the fabric and maybe test it first. Thank you for always supporting me and my channel. I will put my email in the description in my next video but here it is - celiapinayako@gmail.com.
A Toonie - that is cool. I don't now if we have that king of chocolate coin here in the states , that huge size. It is a joy to stitch the American sampler. I am working on my queen stitches right now.
Thank you. I am glad to know that I have viewers who appreciates the nature walks or activities I share here along with my needlework projects. these are my favorite hobbies and these hobbies makes me happy and alive.
I have that pattern in my “to do” pile - so beautiful! My experience with MG Textiles fabric has resulted in the stitch count going across being one stitch longer than the stitch count going down. I tested this by stitching 2 over 2 across for 14 stitches and 2 over 2 down 14 stitches and measured the stitches to see if it was 1 inch both ways. Your fabric may be fine, mine wasn’t. Sorry if I confused you, but I don’t want you to find out too late after putting hours of work in the piece.
Oh my. I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing. But I've read this comment too late. I have already stitched a bit in the middle. I think I will be okay since the pattern or design doesn't have to be a perfect square (I hope -fingers crossed) but I am grateful for the tip. I will remember this next time I will use MG textiles.
Your resiliency is commendable 😊 the sampler is lovely. I am starting a new sampler today for a Leap year SAL group on fb. I have no business starting something new but hey, leap year only comes once in 4 years!!!
That is great Heather. Thanks for letting me know about a Leap Year SAL.. I am not part of it but seems like I am doing like you all are doing. We all like new starts. :D
It's nice that you were able to find a hiking group in your area. What lovely scenery especially with all that snow. Wow. The area of Oregon I live in snows perhaps every 5 years. We live on the Oregon Coast. We have a lot of areas for hiking here, but I never thought of looking for a group to join. What a great idea. 😊
Hi Julie. It would be nice to go back there in Oregon to explore. I've been to Mt. Hood but never explored beyond the lodge though. you have nice forested area there. Yes, I found my hiking group on Facebook. I was lucky to have found an all women group and last Sunday was there first group hike. It is always nice to spend outdoors with like-minded people.
Luda is stunning !! Love the other frames pieces too. ❤ Stitching is gorgeous. You did a great job on framing ! Enjoyed the snowy ride ! Thanks for sharing......❤❤❤😊 Pam
The fawn 🦌 is adorable, that piece would look amazing in the cabin! Same with the Chipmunk 🐿️ Congrats on all the finishes 😊 Your cabin is a magical place, not gonna lie, I’m a little jealous 😂 Thanks for posting so I can enjoy too 🙋♀️🇨🇦
Oh Heather we kind of think alike, I thought they are perfect to display in the cabin. We are still fixing the place, rotten wood and it needed a lift and leveled before we can put out flooring. But as my boyfriend always says, God is here in this place. I don’t know what he really meant lol. It is our hiding place. I’m glad you don’t mind me sharing :)
Nice collection. We all change our methods and having a selection is very good. At the moment, my Lowery stand is my favorite. I'm just now getting into floss drops and trying not to "break the bank" either 😊. I think that is what you were trying to say about all your must needed tools.
That’s awesome. I think I am going to try using my Lowery stand now that I have a place for my crafting and sewing. I make my own floss cards as well. I dont need them to be fancy 😁
Happy Valentines Day. Once again, I think we are living parallel lives. I just went through my jumbled threads and organized them too. And the new "Rose Garden" project you are doing, I did in 2020. We have the same taste. We just moved from San Diego, California to a small town in Oregon. We also live in a foresty place just like you. And the new house we moved to has an extra room for a sewing room just for me. I have never had a craft/sewing room. You are blessed to have such a house. 😊
That’s really awesome to know we are living parallel lives. And we like to stitch the same design theme. That is so cool Julie. I’ve stayed in Oregon for a bit and I like it there. Enjoy the woods and enjoy your craft room. I enjoyed mine and we are both blessed really. Have a wonderful weekend.
Congratulations on Luda 😍 She is regal & confident & quiet a stadium of people with her entrance. You have such access to beauty of God created Nature 🙋♀️🇨🇦😊
Winter was late arriving to southern Alberta but came with a Vengence!!! 🥶 Last weekend we were the coldest place north of the equator, even colder than the North Pole!
replying 2 weeks late LOL but I hope it is no longer cold there now. I heard Alberta gets really cold there. My classmate gave up living there. We had a break last week and this week as well. I can't wait for Spring.
I’m interested in the keepsake calendar. I would stitch the two pumpkins people dancing. If the shipping is to expensive just let me know and i will pay it.
Hi Leanne @teddybearaddict. You are the winner for the keepsake calendar. Please send me your mailing address to celiapinayako@gmail.com so I get this mailed to you. Thank you very much for your support. ❤
