July20th to whoever reads this, I'M STILL IN LOVE WITH THE SAME PERSON FOR A DECADE. Yes, It has been 10 years since I met this amazing girl who now turned out to be a wonderful strong independent woman. Let me tell you a story to where it all started. I was this lost soul trying to find new solace. Another place, another adjustment of meeting new people and bunch of different personalities once again. Trying my might not to invest any feelings towards these new people since I came from a place where I was treated awfully. But I fell in love with these creatures. Yes, because of them I learned to love the things that I wasn’t really destined for I thought so…teaching. I gained confidence again because of them, they made me feel important and everything began to fall into place. I WAS HOME. And then, SHE came. Before it all blossomed between the two of us... lots of dragons needed to slay until we reached July 20th and there, I FOUND MY GREATEST LOVE. They say if two people were friends and became lovers, it will either be a wrong or a good move. For me? It was a good move. It was all worth it. We were friends, we were enemies, she hates it when I try to hide her phone away, pulling out her hair tie just to see her running after me. Those perfect memories I kept hidden in my "treasure memory box" until I fell into the hole way deeper than I expected. Yeah, I fell in love with her. With no reason, I guess she did too. From then on, we did everything together - from project partner, dance partner, school group committee and in everything else. Took our own first's. Riding a ferris wheel,letting her walk barefooted on a sand and seeing fireworks together as we walked home. Walking across the street with no shoes on because we got caught by a rain. Therefore, I made to believe that college was the best years of my life coz I have her. I had her. Years passed with all attempted breakups and makeups, we survived. But things getting rough as we started to drift apart when we were getting mature, a lot of realizations, time, presence and most especially - fell out of love? At that point, both of us got tired of things around us. Too overwhelmed and tired that made us just give up. It was a difficult time, I took it too hard that I almost compromised a lot of important things, made foolish mistakes as to lying just to try to keep her which is totally pathetic and stupid of me. I became a monster to her eyes. I didn't realize that I was the one who made the monster inside me until I saw myself getting eaten by my anger. I lost control of myself. I was so terrified to lose her, I can't bear the pain of losing someone who I spent my everyday life with. Until I... was the one who got scared of my own demon. I got frightened to what I can do. I don't want to go back to the darkness I once from. God knows I don't want to hurt her, I am never going to hurt her. But I failed, I did hurt not just her. But people around me. In that moment, I knew I had to STOP. My mind says to stop but my heart can't. Battling with my own demon... I let my mind take over this time, I let her go. I let her get away from me. I only want her to be happy, but I never knew that she'll be happier without me in her life. So when she did, I had to do everything I could to stay away, to protect her from me. At some point, maybe I did. But this gravity keeps on pulling me back to her. I got exhausted and tried to rekindle with her just for the sake of the past but the truth is, I want to still be part of her life, even with JUST being friends with her. But then again, I failed to stay to where I should only be. I am losing my tranquility and I am digging my own sinkhole. When will I stop. I kept hearing that from my own deepest thoughts. I loved her too much that I can never imagine letting her go that easily. But I learned one thing,as time passes by and that the true and unconditional love I have for her turned to setting her free and just ran away. I had no choice but to run away. That's the only choice that I can do to let her go. I died. Inside. But I should live what life gave me. I thought being away from her physically and having less chances of seeing her makes any difference but still... I got stuck into a sinkhole. I gave up. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of her. Does that make me sad? yes, coz of the things that I know I should have done and could've done better. Does that make me happy? yes, in a way that I got to bring back the best years of my life with her. Remembering how we enjoy passing the time eating our favorite foods, going somewhere to sit and talk about anything that we can think of for hours, playing video arcade and many more. People might ask, is that even good for you to keep on lingering the past? Well, that works on me. I am good. I am stuck but I am good. People have different ways of coping. Some might need to totally get rid of a certain memory. But for me? I'd like to keep on repeating it over and over again coz I'm hoping that in time, I'll get tired and eventually got myself not to think of it anymore. That's my choice. "You are just hurting yourself." someone said... I paused. Smiled back. "I will never get hurt by the memories that once made me extremely happy in my life." I gave up trying several things I am doing, I got sick and tired of hating her just to prove to myself that I'm better off without her and so does she. I lost with my own battle. Now, it took me to let the TIME DO ITS MAGIC. I waited. I patiently waited for the time to finally. Finally tell myself I got out of the sinkhole. Yet, I did it again! I again, ran away. This time no chance of seeing each other anymore, no chance of having a deep talk. Now, Is it all over? Would that make any difference to what and how I feel right now? The answer is, NO. I just continue stitching up the broken lines that I am taking to which I am fine with. Learning to just continue in life, I can't do anything about it. I never planned this. I never wanted to see myself being stuck in the same sinkhole for a decade. But this is what life is giving me, FOR NOW. I know that I may not be the one who planned it this way then GOD has to be. He is planning to what the future awaits me, awaits her. So why am I writing this now? My choice... coz I want to... I want to retell how good of a storyline my life was having her in it. I truly accepted the fact that her role has to stay in the past and I just have to wait for the future unfolds right before my eyes. As this writing is not only intended for her to read but perceived on how it is addressed to everyone who can or will read this. To what purpose? To let people realize that it's okay to get hurt (that means you are still alive), to be scared (that means that you still have something to lose), to cry (means that you have feelings), to be angry (not to yourself or to anyone, but to the things you regret you didn't do), and most especially... TO LOVE AFTER YOU GOT BROKEN. Chin up! We got this! to the person who I love for a decade, If by any chance, you'll read this. I just want you to know that I will forever treasure the memories that we had together. Our story will always be my favorite and a reminder of how lucky and thankful I am for having the chance to meet and love you and be once LOVED by you. - Someone.
