Just came back from Rincon 1 about 2 weeks ago. The drop into Fresno Canyon is MUCH worse than when you went. I would not try it AT ALL anymore. Talked to the rangers on the way out and they said they are talking about it.
Just up the hill at Chorro Vista it's pretty nice... it's been hard for me to spend much time out of the SP when I'm in the area the last few years. Amazing 🤩
I had applied for Best Friends Animal Sanctuary a week or so ago but havent heard anything back. I was looking to the Cat handler. Would you let me know what is happening?
No WalMart no 7-11 no Dollar Store takes a very very special type women to live on that stretch of road! Can you imagine BLM road maintenance working this stretch of road,,,,,,,must bring home away from home with you! I deer hunted Miller Flats near Weed N M (Billy the Kid territory) roads were like this!
Yes it is far, and fuel is a concern, depending on how much your vehicle uses. Best bet is to call the ranger station at 432) 229-3613 and discuss your plans. They're happy to advise!
Oh man, the dome mountain you see as you near the campsite brings back memories. Super windy since the site is atop an exposed cliff, but one of the best campsite views at BBRSP imho, and stunning sunsets and night skies. There are a TON of Sonoran sandburr seeds (I think) around there, hopefully your doggo didn't step on too many!
Is that last shot of the stars real? I’ve never been to big bend. I live in Houston and when I tell you I have not seen stars in over 20 years I am not lying. Just a few dots in the sky nothing like that. We had wanted to reserve something in the national park but nothing available. We plan to spend Christmas there just me and my husband and the dog. He as a 4x4 jeep rubicon with a lift and bigger tires. I’m hoping that will work. I read something about a waterfall but can’t find any videos. Any advice or tips would be appreciated.
Yes it's absolutely real. Granted though, a camera on a tripod, set to long exposure, can capture more than what the naked eye can see at any one time. Your rig would do just fine! Just be sure to carry extra spare and fuel. Here's a video on driving to the Chorro vista campsite, where you can access the Madrid Falls trail ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HcB7fnDZWY8.htmlfeature=shared. Thanks for watching and have a great trip!
A perfect trailer for this great adventure story. One of many favorite images will always be the chickens frenzied escape from the inferno, to the beat of the Macarena.
@@georgedorame909 Not that sort of oddity but I've seen what might have been a bigfoot and many other people have seen the same thing. Being as there are no known bipedal animals wondering about there it seems other than a black bear walking for a rather long time on it's hind legs it could be real.
I probably wouldn't try it in that. Very capable, but there's some fairly technical spots, especially after the big rains they've had since we were there.
We were there last Thursday before labor day. Everything was clean at the Pavilion .the folks at the office were very nice and helpfull .what I liked was The showers at the top of landing from the beach. I stopped and washed my shoes and feet off. Thank you park service for the great facilities .
Yes, this is us! Please check out our new adventure novel, "Clucked", published by Black Rose Writing and available at all major booksellers on Nov 9, 2023.
Great video, thanks for uploading. I love the Guale #2 site; been there a dozen times through the past 10 years. The sunrise and sunsets never disappoint. You're right about the wind. One year I took a lightweight pop-up tent and it was ripped to shreds during the night winds. I've cooked many steaks on that fire pit. My favorite thing to do there is to setup a remote Ham Radio base station and work the world on 20M frequencies. I also take a pop-up fully enclosed (zippered windows) Gazebo and place it completely over the picnic table for comfort and shade. So many memories of that campsite. Thanks again!
Love that area it’s a shame to see all the pines burnt down but I was driving on it last month and noticed a lot of oak trees which will completely change the eco system ! You will end up with lots of turkeys in those areas ! I partied a lot out on that road when I was in high school had some great times with friends I still have after 40 years
Great video and awesome place to camp. We usually camp at Pila Montoya 3. the Pila Montoya Trail connects to the Fresno Canyon Road. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to give Rincon a try.
