Rumors flying around our facility right now about a DC opening up near us…….if its true Im jumping ship if it all checks out. Been looking around at other states and their pay/benefits look decent.
I think the days of job security are gone. Certain fields can last longer than others. The personal economy should be our main focus. In the wise words of Forrest Gump shit happens 😅
I work for them like a year I was a city driver in Longview texas I really enjoyed them I mad great money, and yes I will go back I never work the dock
KAG is a very good company. I worked for them for a year hauling Molten Sulfur (loaded into tanker @ 300 degrees). I liked working for KAG as a company, at the end of the day, I did not like the work I was doing because it was a little too dangerous. And I got tired of working a night shift. But, I don't blame KAG for any of that. Pay was great, and even when I left, they offered to try to move me to another position / account, but there was none available at the time. The people there really do care about you, versus some other companies. I have heard their fuel hauling is well over 6 figures, which is what I was trying to get into.
I was an advanced student, age 40, tops in CDL school, a friendly, intelligent guy with a background in trucking. I'd driven straight frame box trucks. But my OTR trainer at USA truck, was a psycho case, schizophrenia with delusional features and severe mental depression on top of that. He had impossible demands and expectations and he hated me when I made typical kinds of rookie mistakes. Several times when he became enraged, I was in fear for my life. Again and again, he denied me food and sleep, and he put me in dangerous high pressure situations like coming down a twisty mountain road, to try and make me quit, but just to spite him, I survived all challenges and stuck it out to the end. Then the company fired me for alleged lack of progress. The experience was like PTSD and I never drove truck again
I mean, just do the math. Like me for example, $37 hrly, approx 50 hrs a week, overtime after 8 and 40 ... and well like I said so the math! And r&l is just one of the megas in LTL... I work for a small local company with only 7 or 8 terminals on the west coast.
No, not necessarily. A career killer is a bit extreme in my opinion. If a SAP driver can get another opportunity, someone terminated answering a phone will still have a future in trucking. It’s not career ending. Unless answering the phone resulted in an accident. That would probably be a different conversation.
All very good advice. As you said, people find you whether you try or not. I work in the Home Office in G.R. and I just happened to see your video show up. Good content. Good luck with your channel. I will confirm that GFS is very on top of their policies and making sure their employees follow it. Well done.
Thank you for another awesome and informative video. I’m about to start community college CDL program and I have been doing a lot of research on the trucking industry and making lists of employers that hire new drivers. I was looking at Dollar General but right now they want one year of experience instead of six months. They must have changed it recently. Schneider trucking has Dollar General dedicated accounts and they hire a new drivers for it. That’s definitely a consideration after I get my license. Their average pay is apparently 1300 to 1500 but I just want to get with a really good company that has quality training, pay is definitely a consideration, but I want to learn how to be a safe, conscientious, and skilled driver, most importantly. I do feel based on my research that having a dedicated account as an over the road driver is the best way to go.
What up my guy..Most truckers wear BlueParrot headsets. They have different models but I have the BlueParrott B450-XT. The noise cancellation is awesome. Great quality headset for sure.
Just got hired today in carlisle pa. They start off 32 a hour . The lady told me if u wanna be a driver they definitely have a 7 weeks training program. Seems like XPO is a good company.
True. Just make your own intelligent decision. Sometimes all this owner operator stuff is a slick way to not pay you, while you take on the liability. Many business franchises are like this too-trying to give the appearance of being an owner- when its just a mirage.
I'm not a Walmart Driver "YET", but sounds to me if you're an associate, Walmart will train you as a Driver so they'll be confident in your ability to "wave" the 30 month requirements
@@lucasw2880 That's a good point that coincidentally I just considered a couple days ago because I was telling my step daughter (former store associate) about the program, assuming it included the stores. Thanks for the correction. 👍🏼
I think only communists think that working is bad, and they go insane of watching entrepreneurs growing the extra mile to build a business and they want to tax them to death which affects everyone in between.
I feel like our own people look down on average jobs and lifestyles. That's why we are at the bottom socially and economically. Even immigrants are passing us socially and economically.
Anytime a job says anything about CSA ALSCORES I BLICK IMMEDIATELY THDRE TO STRICT MAN...THEYLL CALL UOURE PHONE OVER EVERYTHING FUCK THSY IM JUST TRYING GO DRIVE!! SHIT!!!!!!!!
Right now I work a regular job as a FedEx delivery driver and im the bread winner of my home I have a wife an three kids . Currently in trucking school just have to finish paying off my loan for school in order for me to take my road test. In a tough spot right now but I know God has a plan for me an I’ll figure it out. Cause I know in the end it’ll be a great story to tell. I needed this motivational talk I appreciate you my brother 🫡 many more blessings to you. I’ve been feeling defeated lately but this video gave me the clarity and the light I needed to keep going
@dawudsaifullah7507 Not exactly, but routes typically go out between 1am-4am give or take. Chain routes could potentially start a little earlier in some cases.
Been driving over 12 years and never thought twice about working at UPS. They are micromanaged and full of self entitled head above all, big "I" little "you" type of drivers. Can't even drive down the road without your shirt tucked in. I'll take my $2700 take home a week any day over UPS.
I gotta say I’m a former Walmart employee of almost 3 years. Walmart treats drivers for the most part very well and the pay structure is excellent compared to a lot of other trucking companies. No place is perfect. There will always be people talking about their bad experiences with every company. However, having a positive mindset and not allowing everything to bother you while also having a big picture, thought process and most importantly, a thankful attitude helps tremendously. They do require 2 1/2 years of experience But the pay and benefits are incredible.
