There are 6 joints and not 8 in Frame 2 as internal hinges are not counted as joints.

M = 90.13 kN-m is the momemt about 6 kN force and is given by cutting a section just to the left of 6 kN force

hen axial deformation is neglected, why only one member is considered while adding to Dk? For example, if a hinge is inserted between two supports, if axial deformation is neglected, why 1 member is considered instead of two?

Thanks for this insightful tutorial... I was able to find the void ratio on a related question through this video... I have some questions to ask and they are: • How were you able to know that the preconsolidation pressure is approximately 185 kPa from the graph? • In choosing the point to draw the tangent line, how will you know the exact to use? • Did you just draw a line in between straight perpendicular line and tangent line or you did calculate for the angle and bisect them with the line drawn? • If you did bisect them, how were you able to get the angle of bisection from the graph? • And finally, what do you understand by field compression index and how can we find it from that your question? Thanks in anticipation!

Surcharge load pressure is to be added in each layer by multiplying it with passive earth pressure coefficient for that layer

@@MasterCivilEngineering       Our group has been able to obtain 1cm in-situ survey data up to 25m. The data has already been published in JGS. Data on locations where soil samples are difficult to obtain. We have measured up to the level of weathered rock. How to handle singularities in data reduction? We have determined C,φ by confirming and discussing the same soil strata. thank you. I'll study more.

For finding failure plane angle in drained condition you have to take drained friction angle

Yes the value of total stress is 20x8.5 + 9.81×6 = 228.8 KPa
