I have a similar issue mine still runs fine just be driving along an dash goes dumb nobus an won't stop until I turn it off then back on an really bad about it if driving in the rain here lately I've noticed it on every once ina while on startup help someone lol
I have this problem but not gauges and I have the 5vdc going to the sensors, and the sensors are putting out pulses to the PCM, good ASD relay as well, but the pcm is not turning it on, so I'm thinking it's probably the PCM too. Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
Yes, it was the PCM. I ordered a rebuilt one from Ebay and luckily it worked. Unfortunately buying a rebuilt PCM can be a 50/50 chance on it being truly "rebuilt/refurbished". Mine came from Auto comp technologies on Ebay.
I currently have this exact same issue on my 1999 , 3.9L Dakota and am very tired of being randomly stranded. I have changed the PCM this time and it did not resolve the problem. I have had this issue before a few years ago and had to replace the PCM and it did fix the issue. I am replacing the smaller items that may be causing this such as cap and rotor button, wires and ignition coil and maybe the crank sensor. It may even be the wiring harness. If i do replace these and it does not fix the problem i may exchange the PCM again as i suspect that may still be the issue......... it happens ....not every part is good out of the box.....especially a remanufactured PCM vendor.
You ever fix the issue? I’ve had my truck sitting, because I work down back roads and it’s left me stranded once because of this. I’m waiting till tax time and buy ya new computer.
