We are the Miniature Men! We both started our journey into this hobby when we were just kids. Since then, a lot has changed in our abilities and the hobby. We are here to help you grow as builders and painters of miniatures all while saving money and time. We will post once a week on fridays. We look forward to sharing our knowledge with you!
The skin flaps were amazing,. I've also seen someone use a method of blood splatter where the mini was wet with white spirit and then they flicked on some blood paint and then took a flat brush barely damp with white spirit and then did a dry brushing motion and the extremely low surface tension combined with the thinner and the paint being insoluble ended up with very very small blood droplets when everything dried.
My favorite urban base tutorial I've found. In the absence of super cheap paper plates, putting a paper towel on the plate and pouring over that seems to work pretty great.
What I love about this is that, with a slight tweak to the paper plants used this is also a super realistic woodland base (which is what I was actually looking for when I found this video!) Liked and subscribed!
I’m just saying why not use skeleton horde or if the want it to dirty paint white on the bones water down a black pant to a water constancy and wipe off the excess and add Skelton horde it looks amazing.
Good detailed video mate. what would really be helpful is a video showing HOW you are attaching the model to such a base. all the vids i've seen on this subject so far have just omitted this important step. obv some drilling involved but would be good to see.
Gotcha I’ll try to keep that in mind. Often with these bases you can just superglue them directly but in some cases I do drill and pin them with paper clip bits
From other viewers experience the plaster I specifically used I guess works best, other brands are too brittle. If the plate is uncoated and just bare paper it should stick if it gets plenty saturated
Thank you & a Happy Christmas! I'm currently building a WW2 German SDKFZ 251/D in 1/16 scale & have bought a resin 1/16 scale PAK36 anti-tank gun for the half-track to tow. The PAK36 will be my first resin model build & I will be ordering some tools not already in my modelling toolbox. A really helpful video!
Painting wise they are not bad. Most people just struggle to find the exact shade of green they want other than that they are pretty straight forward. Game wise they are also pretty simple to run
Been on here an hour and finally… this video explains it and does the technique at the same time in steps, rather than someone interviewing themselves on camera talking about it. Many thanks for this
have wet wipes changed in last 2 years? Ive tried 3 different brands and they all tear now. I used to be able to use them for this many years ago. Dryer sheets still sheer...will try it tonight once dry...
I've been thinking about doing the Void Dancer Troope for Kill Team, but the idea of painting this sort of diamond pattern was just a deal killer. Not sure if I should thank you or not since because of your video I just spent around $100 to order the miniatures I'll need! 😅
I use Testors dull cote on most things. Ak ultra matte if I want something super dull. For these bases you don’t need a varnish but it would help hold down the scatter foliage some so I would do it after that stage but before doing the paper plants.
If I can give anyone a tip. If you are superglueing any flat surface to another relative flat surface. Try to either make a lil hole or even cuts on the even surfaces. It helps the glue settle and adhere more strongly. Also prevents it from breaking off from falling etc.
