What is the biggest dual sport you would recommend. I was thinking of honda crf 450rl, maybe a ktm 500. I di have a triumph tiger 900 rally pro but I think this bike is big and heavy and I need more experience with this bike before doing something like that. I am sure it could be done but I have only been riding for a year and a half and I am 51. I think maybe a 450 or 500. I learned riding on a 1990 yamaha xt350. The 350 would be a good choice but it is carb. Not sure if this makes a difference in the dessert but altitude will affect it. Awesome video and great things to consider that is why I am asking. I would rather go have a great time on the right bike. Than wish I didn't take the triumph or something like that. Thanks
As a local, we get lots of time in in the summer mornings and evenings. Riding in the fall up to Chistmas is usually fine. Shhhh. Don't tell the UTV crowd.
Yes it does. The only thing you can ride a non plated bike on are NF trails and you must have a sticker. (plated bikes also need a sticker for trails).
I absolutely love it! It's plenty powerful for a big guy like me to have fun with and it's very capable. It feels and looks like it's quality. It might not be as flashy as the Can-Am stuff, but you get the feeling when you sit on it that it's going to last forever even if you ride it like you want to ride it. I absolutely recommend getting one.
Honestly after owning a bike and now a quad with a fuel gage you don't really need one. They aren't very accurate, and you are better off setting your trip meter and looking in the tank anyway. That's my 2 cents.
You should try out AOAA in Central Eastern PA. It's a really cool off road park with a lot of trails. I have a lot of videos on the pace so you can check them out.
sucks to see you leave. I live in the Eastern USA (NY/NJ/PA) and it' nice but you can't beat the wonders and the beauty of the great Colorado. I guess the channel has really taken a downhill especially since you haven't uploaded in over a year. But at least I hope it's for the better good. But you really have to move back to Colorado for Retirement.
This video hasn’t even gotten the motor past 5000 rpm. He’s just putting around. Anyone think it’s got balls now? Wait until they tap into the other half of the motor, that or drop to 14/45 gearing for off-road to really open up the engine on the gnarly stuff.
Yeah I was a new rider in this. That was 9 years ago. Skip ahead in the archive 4 years and see the improvement. I now mod one of the largest DRZ groups on Facebook and am in the top 10 of DRZ knowledge on the internet. Crazy how things develop when you love them.
We tried to hit Cabway Lingo and Bear Wallow at the end of the season last summer, but my wife's family has had some major medical issues that have kept us from doing much. There will be more to come! I think Daddy might buy himself a new camera too. Haha!
You are obviously new around here. The entire purpose of this channel is about my riding life. You could have approached this entirely differently and asked a question that I would have thoughtfully replied to and tried to help you out, but you chose to be a dick, and now you can eat one.
1st up let your tyres down especially the front to about 10psi & it will give you way more traction in your front end 2nd I suggest you guys look up cross training enduro & cross training adventure on RU-vid There is a in depth reviews on the dr650 & the drz400 & what one should do to turn this turd int a good reliable off road bike! Engine , exhaust & suspension mods without spending sweet FA on the bike! After the mods are done to a dr650 it completely transforms the pig into a very capable machine that you can do 60ft jumps on if you do desire! The guy running the channel has had lots of drz400’s & dr650’s I strongly advise anyone interested in getting the most out of these tanks to go watch Barry on cross training enduro/ adventure ! Go to playlist scroll down to you see dr650 & watch & see how easy it is to transform this into a really good bike Happy riding to all out there
Rampart has great trails for more advanced riders, too. Maybe mostly for intermediate/advanced riders, but my son, grandson, and granddaughters learned there.
Meh.... I think you are exaggerating the "pea gravel" situation in Rampart Range. There is gravel but it's not everywhere. There are plenty of easy trails and advanced as well.
As a property owner I have to admit, I hate private property. We’re so lucky that we have so much open space in Colorado…23 million acres. A great way we can ensure more open space opportunities is to donate our estates to land conservancy for the acquisition of more public lands. Generations to come will benefit far greater from this than leaving estates to children.
Great Video...I just baught the exact same Grizzly and love it! Can you share info on the Air BNB? Want to plan a trip in the next couple of weeks there and am having the same issue, too much a night for just 1 or 2 people! Thank for the info and keep up the videos!
He would be just fine on the green trails. Most of them are very wide unmaintained dirt roads. The minimum age is 6 for kids. Make sure you read the rules at www.trailsheaven.com
