I know I'm 10 months late to the party, but I wanted to say thank you so much for this video. I picked up my first 3D printer a couple of days ago and I'm still getting use to the idea that I don't have to run out and buy or order "this" or "that" online. I can just make it. That's mind blowing to me, but it also sent me down a rabbit hole of understanding the materials I'm using for the items intended purpose. Your video has demystified so much about filaments. And settled a worry I had about my printer choice. I went with a Bambu A1 with the AMS attachment as my first printer. I was worried that because of this choice I wouldn't be able to print durable parts for outdoor use as I thought ABS and ASA were my only two options. Thanks to you, I'll be ordering a couple spools of PETG. Thanks again!
I've had a P1S for about one year and it works, but I often don't print because I almost always have to fiddle with it to print.It's not as magical as the internet makes it out to be .I recently bought a FLSun T1 and haven't had any problems with it.
Oh, I've had the complete opposite experience. The A1 mini and P1S have been such reliable machines. But, this is why we have options - so we can have the printers that we like and prefer!
Qidi Xmax3 fits the criteria, I print 110-115% scale for larger heads with lots of room to spare. very fast and similar specs to k1 series printers from creality
I am one of those people trying to get rid of my old printer to get a p1s combo. I am in high school and my parents said I had to get rid of my old printers to get a new one and am struggling to get people to take them. I have all most of the money to buy it but it is hard to give them away for free
Nice video. I’ve been at it for 11 years and decided to buy a new printer now and started bouncing around videos to see what’s all changed. One thing I can tell you I do for ABS when printing on a glass bed (maybe with a thick capton layer) is take my scrap ABS from supports and mix it with some acetone to make a glue that’s the same color for the next print. This ABS glue holds it down great and keeps it out of the trash.
I was looking for some filament in Flat Dark Earth to make some parts for Airsoft rifles. I got polymaker tough pla because they are the only company that made that color. So far really good. Hasn't converted me from Sunlu yet but I'm liking it
@LoyalMoses maybe sunlu being $13 a Kilo right now is really nice lol. I am having a bit of an issue of getting the polymaker tough PLA to stick to the bed
Qidi x-max 3. The quality and versatility is insane. If qidi would come out with a solid multicolor system or a tool-changer system I'd sell everything else I have and only run their machines.
These helmets are displayed or wearable for Halloween costumes? Do they also print small details like castles (Hogwarts)? Also, do any of these have multiple color options, or is that too much to ask for in one printer?
Thanks for the questions! They can be used for decoration or for wearable costumes, many people use these to make their cosplay to wear. Also, yes these can definitely print small details as well. None of these have reliable multiple color options, but everyone is waiting on Bambu Lab to release a new multicolor large format printer.
Which Comgrow and instead of saying garbage, be more specific to help people, otherwise your generalization just gets ignored. People definitely read comments looking for useful information and even I’d like to know what it was that failed or that you didn’t like.
Looking on eBay. They have 3 printers in the 200$ range. sovol Svo7 Elegoo Neptune 4 pro Ankermake m5c (refurbished) by ankermake. Which one do you think I should go with.
Idk im still super happy with my ender 3 and i want max strength with my prints so im already printing at a fraction of my printers capabilities. That being said its crazy how nice theses budget machines are becoming
I'm surprised you didn't mention the Ender 5 Plus on this list. ill admit, the stock ender 5 plus isn't great value. The value in the ender 5 plus is the SHEER amount of upgrades you can do on it. just a few of the most exiting ones are 1: ZeroG Mercury One.1 conversion. This is an open source CoreXY conversion for the ender 5 series of printers. for $200 you can basically turn your ender 5 into a Voron 2: ZeroG Hydra conversion. This adds 3 point auto bed leveling to the ender 5 printers, not mesh leveling, actual auto bed leveling. you can get kits for around $100 3: Enraged Rabbit Carrot Feeder (ERCF). This is an automatic filament swapper that can swap between upto 16 different filaments. there are also all the normal upgrades such as hotends, motherboards, motors, ect.
What are your opinions one the elegoo neptune 3 plus. I want one for christmas for helmets and other things. Is it a good buy or should I get the neptune 4 plus instead?
Gotcha. If you can swing that extra $50 I feel like that is better in the long run, but if not, it's not that big of a concern, because I LOVE my Neptune 3 Max. A LOT.
I was thinking the Sovol SV04 IDEX with a 300x300x400 with dual extruder should be a great Helmet printer that could use support material to improve the clean up.
I have three Rat Rigs. Two Vcore 3 ane a Vcore 4 I just recieved and is still in many boxes. They have been solid printers and the 500 cube is massive. They are much more expensive, but great machines
The Kobra 2 Plus has been amazing for me. I seriously only leveled it 1 time in 700hrs. And that was when i initially took it out of the box. Never a failed print and super easy to use. Highly recommend
If Sovol fixes all the issues with the SV08 it would be a great buy. Firmware issues, enclosure kit issues, hotend issues. Manufacturer’s are in such a hurry to get products to market they skip on testing and let buyers end up fixing the problems. Elegoo was the same with the 4Plus/Max.
The firmware updates made a huge difference and I am loving them, both for Sovol and ELEGOO. It's funny, there are two distinct groups - people that are upset that companies aren't releasing or competing fast enough, and the group that is upset they release too fast.
Bambu doesn't make a helmet-class 3D printer and I have not had any helmet-class Creality printers sent to the studios. I would have included them for sure!
I know you are not the type of guy to make this kind of video, but maybe you could do a video about tuning klipper printers? Because I bought a t300 and I am not very satisfied with it - the quality is not great and the tech support is really bad. Additionally the interface on my printer feels very slow but on yours it seems very fast and responsive. Im saying this because maybe it is all about tuning? (Even toolboard replacement didnt solve the software issues like the need to upload files for printing twice)
I also picked up a T300 in March 2024. I love the speed (printing, bed), but it's plagued with reliability issues. In fairness, once I did the dog and pony show with Sovol, they replaced the MCU, bed, heater block and nozzle, though they would not replace the tool head. It's sad b/c the printer has so much potential, however, it's definitely on the "NOT IN A MILLION YEARS " No Buy for me. I'd love an SV08 but my experience with Sovol has left me sad and broken.
